"Sixth Master, sothing terrible has happened..."
Adrian Desmond recognized Housekeeper Mr. Lucas’s voice. Mr. Lucas was not one to make a fuss without reason, so he wouldn’t be knocking on their door at such a mont unless it was important.
"Don’t go!" Sienna Johnson was also in an awkward, uncomfortable state. How could she let Adrian Desmond leave at a ti like this?
"What’s the matter?"
Adrian Desmond didn’t want to leave either. He bent down and kissed her, and Sienna Johnson cooperated, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Sixth Master, Miss Carpenter has attempted suicide..."
It was like a bomb dropped into a calm lake, sending ripples outwards. Sienna Johnson felt Adrian Desmond stiffen in an instant. Before she could react, Adrian Desmond had swiftly pulled away from her and started throwing on his clothes.
"Prepare a plane for !"
"It’s already ready; we can leave now." Mr. Lucas had anticipated that Adrian Desmond would go to Aurinnois. As soon as he learned the news, he had made the arrangents.
Sienna Johnson lay there, exposed and shivering. Adrian Desmond hadn’t even bothered to cover her with the quilt; he had simply "abandoned" her.
She watched him hastily dress, his face tense, then hurry away... Her heart ached with a sharp pang, and tears welled up, rolling down her cheeks.
What was she to him?
He’d play with her when he was happy and discard her when he wasn’t.
Sienna Johnson’s body gradually grew cold, and with it, her heart. She hated Adrian Desmond, hated him intensely.
A faint noise suddenly ca from the window. Sienna Johnson heard it and quickly pulled the quilt over herself. She looked towards the curtains, where a man was half-hidden, and asked in shock, "Who are you?"
"It’s ," ca a slightly rough male voice.
"Lucas Robertson?" Hearing his voice, Sienna Johnson felt an unexpected surge of joy, so much so that the sting of Adrian Desmond "abandoning" her monts ago lessened.
"Didn’t you say you’d help escape? Where did you go?" Sienna Johnson’s voice was tinged with reproach and resentnt.
"I went to kill Maxwell Bradford."
He had been concealed behind the curtains. As the wind gusted in from the open window, it carried with it the distinct, tallic scent of blood.
"Blood?... Are you injured?"
"Yes."
Sienna Johnson no longer cared about her state of undress. She slipped on a nightgown and walked towards him. The closer she got, the more potent the sll of blood beca.
"Co out, let see."
He stepped out from behind the curtain. In the dim lamplight, she saw several gunshot wounds on his body and a knife wound on his shoulder. His condition looked dire.
"Don’t tell you went after Maxwell Bradford for revenge all by yourself?"
"I did."
Sienna Johnson didn’t know what to say to this man. "Co with ."
She led him into the bathroom, switched on the light, and said, "Take off your clothes. I need to see your wounds."
"This..." Lucas Robertson was clearly taken aback by Sienna Johnson’s request.
"I’m a doctor! In my eyes, a patient has no gender."
"You’re a doctor?" Lucas Robertson was quite surprised.
"What? Does that surprise you?" Sienna Johnson was displeased by his doubt.
"I just didn’t expect it. I thought you were just a pretty face with no other use."
"You..." If she didn’t know this man could help her escape, Sienna Johnson would have imdiately called the bodyguards to throw him out of her room.
"With injuries this severe, why didn’t you go to a hospital? My resources here are limited; I can only provide basic treatnt. If any bullets are lodged too deep, I won’t be able to remove them," Sienna Johnson asked.
"I killed Maxwell Bradford. His n know I’m seriously injured. They’re undoubtedly watching the hospitals, waiting for to walk into their trap. The mont I set foot in a hospital, I’ll be killed."
So, after killing Maxwell Bradford, Lucas Robertson had nowhere else to go and had co to find her.
"Alright, lie down in the bathtub, and let take a look."
Sienna Johnson felt she had no other choice but to treat his wounds. She had to leave this place; she couldn’t stand being near the hypocritical Adrian Desmond for another minute.
Lucas Robertson stripped down to his boxers, a hint of embarrassnt on his face. Sienna Johnson, however, only had eyes for his wounds.
She retrieved the household dical kit. It was surprisingly well-equipped, even containing suture needles and thread. Sienna Johnson used a scalpel and forceps to extract the bullets from Lucas Robertson’s body. Fortunately, the bullets weren’t embedded too deeply. The real problem was his broken arm.
"Lucas Robertson, to be this injured and still alive... Are you a cat?"
"What does that have to do with cats?"
"Where I co from, they say cats have nine lives."
"You saved , and I still haven’t fulfilled your wish. I won’t die!" Lucas Robertson stated with determination.
"As long as you rember. You disappeared for a whole month; I was starting to think you’d forgotten your promise," Sienna Johnson grumbled.
"I never forget what I’ve said! And I will definitely do what I promised you."
"Mai..." It was Kiki’s voice from outside. Lucas Robertson, startled, grabbed a blood-stained dagger from his side—whose blood it was, he didn’t know.
"Mai, bad news! Miss Carpenter attempted suicide." It seed Kiki had heard the commotion and rushed over to tell her.
"I know. So? Is she dead yet?" Sienna Johnson asked, her voice devoid of sympathy.
"I don’t know..." Kiki replied.
Just then, Selena Robertson, drawn by the voices, reached the bathroom doorway. Peeking inside, she saw the man and almost scread, "Mai, there’s a man in here!"
"Don’t be alard, he’s a friend," Sienna Johnson said, reassuring Lucas Robertson first. Then, she pulled Kiki, who had been standing behind Selena, into the bathroom.
"Who is this?!" Kiki exclaid upon seeing Lucas Robertson, turning to flee. Sienna Johnson quickly stopped her. "Mai, I’m going to call for help!"
"Don’t you dare!" Sienna Johnson commanded.
"Why not?"
"Because this man is going to help us escape."
Sienna Johnson then briefly introduced Lucas Robertson to Selena Robertson, who was still looking at him with suspicion. "He killed Maxwell Bradford? Do you think Maxwell Bradford’s n will just let him go? He’ll probably be killed the mont he steps outside."
Lucas Robertson’s mouth twitched at her words.
It’s too dangerous outside; of course, he’ll stay here. Sienna Johnson had already decided to let Lucas Robertson recuperate at the Desmond Family estate. What place could be safer? They just needed to avoid the bodyguards and servants.
"What if the Sixth Master finds out?"
"Put him in your room!"
Selena Robertson looked at the heavily injured man and shook her head like a rattle drum. "No, no, this man looks dangerous. Who knows if he’s a con artist."
"Then put him in my room."
"That’s even worse! The Sixth Master is incredibly jealous. He gets upset if you even exchange a few words with the household bodyguards. If he found out you were hiding a man in your room, he’d kill him!"
"Then what do you suggest?"
