They are mostly still very young, with undeveloped minds, making it impossible for them to take care of themselves.
"Damn it!"
Damian Knight cursed with a dark expression, caught in a dilemma.
By this ti, the air was filled with smoke from burning objects, and the temperature had risen to an unbearable level.
What to do?
Should he ignore that child?
Damian glanced at the two wailing infants in his arms, gritted his teeth, and started heading downstairs.
If he saved that one, perhaps all these kids would die here.
This wasn’t a choice; he didn’t have a choice.
But just as Damian stepped down two stairs, hurried footsteps sounded from behind him.
Damian turned to see Sumr Monroe rushing over, anxiously inquiring, "Are the children okay?"
Damian asked in surprise, "Did you get what you were looking for so quickly?"
Sumr was silent for a mont, then shook her head lightly, "I heard the explosion, worried you couldn’t handle it alone."
Damian furrowed his brows, "What about your things?"
Sumr opened her mouth but said nothing.
Compared to things, of course, lives are more important.
If she left the children to search for things, how would she be different from the murderer who killed her mother?
Seeing her silence, Damian understood her thoughts, gave her a deep look, and with a slight move of his lips, uttered two words, "Fool!"
Sumr shot him a look, pulled over a sobbing child who couldn’t catch his breath, and asked Damian, "Did anyone get hurt in the explosion just now?"
Damian rembered the lost child and shook his head, "No one got hurt, but a child is missing."
"What?!" Sumr exclaid, her face turning pale.
Damian directly shoved the baby in his arms into hers, saying as he walked toward the explosion floor, "You take the kids down first, I’ll co down as soon as I find him!"
"Damian Knight!" Sumr, holding the babies, gritted her teeth and said, "This life of yours was saved by , without my permission, you can’t die here!"
Damian was montarily stunned, then smirked, "Don’t worry, apart from you, no one can take my life."
With that, he turned and dashed into the floor ablaze with flas, his figure quickly being swallowed by smoke.
Sumr watched Damian’s retreating figure, feeling indescribably complicated inside.
It was as if so soft, fluffy seed had quietly taken root and sprouted in the barren, hard soil of her heart...
"Sister, I want mommy..." a child tugged at her hem, sobbing.
Sumr snapped back to reality, and resolutely said, "Okay, sister will take you to see your mommy!"
Saying this, she carried the two children in her arms and didn’t waste another second, leading the group of children downstairs...
Over a dozen floors, Sumr herself had no problem going down.
But taking so many children, while holding two, she felt as if all the strength in her body had been drained, her arms going numb and weak.
With the dust particles in the air unsettling her lungs, she had to cough a few tis.
When she finally reached the ground floor lobby with the children, she was utterly exhausted, moving purely on willpower.
Outside the building.
"Save my child... I beg you, she’s only six months old!"
"My son! Let in!"
"If anything happens to my child, I won’t live either! Sob sob sob..."
"Let go of ! If you won’t go save them, let us do it ourselves! Let go of !!!"
The scene was becoming increasingly chaotic.
