Jero cautiously knocked on the door until a voice from inside said "Co in," and only then did he dare to enter.
The room’s lights were off, the temperature seed at least ten degrees colder than outside, and the light was extrely dim.
Yet, even so, Jero could still see the shadow on the man’s face.
Jero gathered his courage and said, "Duke, I confird the news from that side. The bomb wasn’t defused; they just cut the wire. But I’m afraid it wasn’t Sumr Monroe who cut the wire, soone else did it."
At this point, the man’s expression finally relaxed a little.
Logically, his plan was flawless, Sumr Monroe couldn’t have known about the bomb, much less cut the right wire.
After all, she was just a woman.
A woman, seeing a bomb, would surely be so scared her legs couldn’t move, where would she have the courage to cut the wire? It’s not a movie plot.
"Who was it?" the man suppressed the raging anger in his chest and spoke coldly.
Jero took a breath and said, "Aaron."
Upon hearing the na, the man’s handso face imdiately twisted.
"How could he be in Cathaysia?"
Jero shook his head, "I don’t know the reason, but our people clearly saw him on the cruise. Last ti we took his guns, he’s probably held a grudge against us, so he’s been secretly watching our movents... I judge it was likely Aaron dismantled the bomb for his own safety, allowing Sumr Monroe to escape unscathed."
The man’s expression only improved a bit.
He’d rather it was Aaron who acted, than admit he lost to a woman.
Jero observed the man’s expression and tentatively asked, "Do you think we should go after Aaron? That kid has already ssed up our plans many tis."
"No need," the man said coldly, "Their family is too mysterious. Until we fully understand them, do not act rashly. Pass it down, from now on, anything related to their family is off-limits."
Jero responded with "Understood," and then asked, "What about Sumr Monroe..."
The man said dismissively, "Just a woman, put her aside for now. She can’t stir up any trouble. Our primary targets are Damian Knight and the other three, the rest don’t matter for now."
"Understood!" Jero bowed and retreated.
The room fell into deathly silence once again.
