Sumr Monroe exhaled a sigh of frustration, lit the sleep aid made by Mrs. William, turned off the lights, and closed her eyes to sleep.
The sleep aid worked effectively, and Sumr quickly fell into a deep slumber.
On the other side, Damian Knight, lying in bed with the lights off, was tossing and turning.
He hadn’t contacted Sumr for six hours now. He had been busy during those six hours, so he didn’t have ti to reach out to her. But now that he was back at Redleaf Manor, he felt an increasing urge to contact Sumr.
Yet, rembering that Cece ntioned a week, he forcibly held himself back. Just sleep; the night will pass quickly.
Two hours later.
In the darkness, Damian Knight sat up suddenly, and with a "click," turned on the bedside lamp.
He had insomnia!
Damn it, why did he end up with insomnia again?
Is it the jet lag issue? It must be!
Damian Knight reached for his phone on the bedside table and scrolled through his inbox, which was full of ssages, yet none from Sumr.
This heartless woman, he didn’t contact her, and she didn’t even call to check if he got ho?
Annoyed, Damian leaned against the headboard and lit a cigarette.
Amidst the swirling smoke, he suddenly noticed sothing he had brought back from Mr. William.
He decided to get up and brew the dicine, drank it all in one go, not leaving a trace.
Back in bed, he didn’t know if it was the effect of the dicine or that his biological clock had reached sleep ti, but sleepiness finally crept in, and he closed his eyes and entered sleep.
Ti moves slowly when one is awake, yet once asleep, it passes in the blink of an eye.
Damian Knight was woken up by the phone.
Waking up in a bad mood, he answered the phone and spoke harshly, "What is it?"
The caller seed startled by his tone and, after two seconds, introduced himself with a trembling voice: "Hello, Mr. Knight, I am the principal of Crestfall University."
Damian paused, then most of his morning grumpiness dissipated as he spoke, "Hello, Principal Payne."
Principal Payne relaxed a little and said, "I seem to have disturbed your rest."
"It’s fine, go ahead," Damian said, dressing while putting the phone on speaker.
Principal Payne’s voice was filled with amusent: "Regarding the matter you discussed with about introducing a friend to study at our university, there’s progress."
Damian’s morning grumpiness vanished instantly, and he asked, "How is it going?"
Principal Payne said, "A teacher from Britton University has just arrived here. He wants to start a preparatory class to pre-enroll top students from various universities. I reserved a spot for your friend. You can have her co to enroll today. Enrollnt starts at noon, and classes begin at 2 PM."
"Alright, thank you, Principal Payne."
Principal Payne, sounding quite flattered, said, "Not at all, if it weren’t for you, how could Crestfall University have the largest library among national universities?"
Damian replied indifferently, "It’s nothing. Once my friend graduates successfully, I’ll donate a high-tech experintal building to you."
The principal’s eyes lit up at that.
"Have your friend co to my office early; I’ll take care of the procedures for her, so she doesn’t have to run around in a place unfamiliar to her."
"Thank you for the trouble."
"It’s my duty, really."
A high-tech experintal building! With that, why worry about University B surpassing them in rank? Excellent faculty resources would surely pour in!
The principal ended the call with full gratitude.
As soon as the call ended, there was a knock on the door of the principal’s office.
Seeing the person, Principal Payne’s eyes imdiately brightened.
"Professor Osborne! You’re here? Please, have a seat!" The principal stood up enthusiastically to welco the man walking in.
The man had a pair of dark eyes, a high-bridged nose, and thin lips, exuding elegance tinged with coldness.
With a black suit and ticulously polished shoes, from hair to heel, he carried an air of precision that commanded seriousness.
eting the man’s cool gaze, the principal gradually withdrew his enthusiastic smile, sowhat awkwardly offering a cup of tea, "Professor Osborne, what brings you here all of a sudden?"
