"Sir, Madam, after confirmation from the police, the hospital will contact you regarding compensation," Doctor Chambers said, not forgetting Isaac Ross’s instructions, adding, "The fees for your examination today will be fully covered by our hospital. For future examinations, we will arrange for a female doctor to assist you. Please co with us."
Stella Monroe directly refused, "I won’t be examined anymore! In a hospital like yours, I wouldn’t dare even if the doctor is female! Just give us the results of the previous exam I did, and for any other check-up, I’ll go to another hospital myself."
With Stella’s words, patients who initially intended to continue with their check-ups began to leave one after another.
It was foreseeable that this scandal would soon spread throughout Crestfall, dealing an unprecedented blow to the reputation of the Second Ross Hospital.
Doctor Chambers was clearly aware of this too; his face was full of helplessness as he nodded to the nurse beside him, "Please bring this lady’s examination results."
"Alright, Doctor Chambers." The nurse turned and walked away, returning shortly with the examination report in hand.
Doctor Chambers gave a brief glance to Sumr Monroe, as if seeking her approval, though the look was subtle and incomprehensible to others.
Sumr, standing by, furrowed her brows tightly. She was already regretful over the male doctor who had been arrested; no more incidents could happen now. She could only nod imperceptibly.
Noticing this, Doctor Chambers finally walked over to Stella, handing her the report and saying, "According to the blood test results, Madam, congratulations, you are pregnant."
"What?!"
"What?!"
Henry Stanton and Stella Monroe both spoke out simultaneously, their faces showing extre shock.
But Sumr imdiately noticed that Stella’s shock was feigned.
Expressions could be faked, but the look in one’s eyes could hardly deceive—she caught a fleeting glint of smugness in Stella’s eyes.
"Congratulations, Aunt," Sumr smiled as she stepped forward, her gaze fixed intensely on Stella.
Stella inexplicably felt a pang of guilt.
Sumr’s gaze was too piercing, like a sharp dagger slicing open her head, revealing her thoughts.
But Stella quickly composed herself.
The plan she had with Felix Jennings was extrely secretive; besides the two of them, no third party could possibly know.
Worst case scenario, even if Sumr guessed it, she wouldn’t be able to expose it.
Felix had said the dicine Stella was consuming would mimic pregnancy symptoms as long as she kept taking it. Without an ultrasound, no one could discover that she was faking pregnancy.
Sumr’s congratulations might very well be a form of submission.
Thinking this, Stella covered her mouth in feigned surprise and said, "No need to congratulate ... At my age... Oh dear, I really don’t know what to do."
As she spoke, she turned to look at Henry Stanton’s expression.
Henry had no sons under his knee; as his wife, she knew he dreamt of having a son. Unfortunately, after giving birth to Clarissa, she never conceived again, consuming countless dications to no avail. If Henry knew she was pregnant now, he would surely be delighted!
However, when Stella looked over, she saw no trace of joy on Henry’s face, only a very complex expression.
It was entirely unexpected for her.
Stella was montarily stunned. Due to her guilt, her heartbeat quickened.
She took a deep breath, just about to speak when Henry questioned the doctor holding the report, "How many months is the child?"
