Sumr’s heart was cold; she was completely different from when she first returned to Stanton Manor.
Nothing Henry Stanton said could hurt her anymore.
However, Sumr put on an extrely aggrieved expression and said pitifully, "Dad, aunt, you’ve misunderstood. I didn’t go out to play. It’s just that when I left the hospital, I didn’t see you. I thought you had sothing urgent and went elsewhere and would co back to get later. So I waited at the hospital entrance for hours, but you still hadn’t co back..."
Henry Stanton was at a loss for words just as Stella Monroe spoke up first, "Sadie, children shouldn’t lie in front of their parents. If you’d waited that long, why didn’t you call us?"
Sumr said with a pitiful look, "My phone was dead, and I never thought you really wouldn’t co back to pick up."
Upon hearing this, Henry Stanton was overwheld with guilt. He walked up and patted Sumr’s hand apologetically, "It’s my fault. Too many things ca up today, and I just forgot. But I promise you, it won’t happen again."
Sumr lowered her eyes and nodded, looking extrely wronged.
Stella Monroe couldn’t stand Sumr’s appearance. Henry Stanton had never seen Sumr’s true face, but she saw it clearly.

Stella Monroe was seething inside when her phone suddenly rang.
It was the Daoist she had hired!
This Daoist was quite famous and had so real skills, but she had paid him enough money to make him say what she wanted him to say.
Stella Monroe’s eyes flickered with cold sharpness, but she quickly regained her composure.
She put on a smile and answered the phone, "Master, please wait at the door for a mont. I’ll co to et you shortly."
After hanging up, she turned to Henry Stanton and said, "Henry, Mom said she wanted to bring a Daoist to perform a ritual for Clarissa. The Daoist is here now, so I’ll go call Mom downstairs."
Henry Stanton quickly stopped Stella Monroe, saying with concern, "You’re still expecting. Running around like this, aren’t you tired? Just have a servant go upstairs and call Mom down. You sit tight, and I’ll go get the Master."
Stella Monroe laughed, "It’s only been a few months. You can’t even hear the baby’s heartbeat yet. I don’t feel much. It’s fine."
"You say you feel fine, but you’ve been vomiting the whole way? Just focus on your pregnancy. Try not to move around unnecessarily."
Stella Monroe looked a bit helpless and nodded, reminding him, "When you see the Master, make sure to be polite. This Master is hard to invite and very respected in Crestfall. I know several prominent families often have him for divinations. The wife of the Ross Family, for instance, has him do a reading weekly. He’s very skilled!"
When Henry Stanton heard the Ross Family ntioned, his expression grew more serious.
Even though he was an outstanding graduate of Crestfall University and had received a scientific education, he was from a mountain village like Old Madam Stanton, and deep down, he still believed in those superstitions and the existence of divine beings.
Hearing about the Master’s authority, he said earnestly, "Don’t worry, I won’t make a mistake. I’ll go and get him now."
As he spoke, Henry Stanton instructed the butler to go upstairs and ask Old Madam Stanton to co down.
Since it was Old Madam Stanton who wanted the ritual, she would surely want to witness it herself to feel at ease.
After giving the instructions, Henry Stanton reminded Sumr, "Don’t forget to burn incense for your sister."
