Sumr Monroe hadn’t yet reacted when Damian Knight had already eaten it in just a few bites.
"That’s Holly Holloway’s!"
"I know." Damian Knight blurted out, then quickly corrected himself: "I wasn’t full, and maybe she already had breakfast? Taking it would be a waste, better for to eat it instead."
He didn’t want to share anything his wife made, even if the sandwich was big enough that he was now feeling stuffed and finding it hard to breathe.
Sumr Monroe didn’t think much of it, just assud Damian Knight had a big appetite.
She took a sip of milk and started talking to Damian Knight about Old Madam Stanton.
"Old Madam Stanton passed away."
Damian Knight was slightly surprised and asked, "What happened?"
"She fell and probably hurt sothing inside."
Just as Sumr finished speaking, Isaac Ross’s call ca through.
After listening intently, a sarcastic smile curled up on her lips. "I understand. Thank you."
She hung up the phone and let out a scornful laugh. "The old lady didn’t have to die. The machine I donated to Ross Hospital—Henry Stanton refused to spend money to buy it, leading to her surgery failing, and she passed away a bit after midnight."
Damian Knight looked incredulous.
"I knew Henry Stanton was soone who put his interests first, but I didn’t expect him to have no limits like this."
Sumr raised an eyebrow: "I’m not at all surprised. If he were willing to pay for the old lady’s surgery, then I’d question my own judgnt."
"Oh, right." Damian Knight rembered Stella Monroe’s situation and said, "Bella and Cece are off to Myanmar today, and Stella Monroe’s dication results should be out soon."
Sumr nodded, glanced at her watch, and said, "It’s about ti. I’m off to school."
"I’ll take you."
They headed downstairs together, coincidentally running into the auntie who had brought fruits yesterday as she entered.
The auntie had a smile with an inexplicable aning and greeted them warmly: "The couple heading to work?"
Sumr was montarily taken aback, not yet having a chance to react when Damian Knight already replied, "Yes, thank you for the fruits yesterday. I’ll have my wife invite you over for a al soday."
"Sure, sure." The auntie smiled and went upstairs.
Sumr blushed and glared at Damian Knight: "Who’s your wife?"
"You are." Damian Knight glanced sideways at her. "Aren’t you?"
Sumr bit her lip, not planning to et Damian Knight’s gaze. Whenever their eyes t, her heart couldn’t help but race.
She needed to see a psychologist as soon as possible!
When they reached the gate of Crestfall University, Sumr saw Willow Grant and a group of teachers as soon as she got out of the car.
She happened to run into Holly Holloway, who was heading out to buy breakfast, and Holly muttered softly, "They’re waiting for the teacher from Britton University. Look at Willow, she’s been staring at us."
Sumr turned her head to look and saw that Willow’s eyes were full of jealousy.
—She had seen Sumr getting out of Damian Knight’s car.
Sumr ignored Willow and said to Holly, "I have sothing to do, so I won’t join you for breakfast."
"No problem, head back to class. I’ll get you so soy milk."
"Okay." Sumr nodded, watched Holly leave, and quickly walked through the school gate.
She really didn’t want to run into the Britton University teacher, just in case she was recognized.
Just as Sumr entered the school gate, a car stopped by the roadside.
A few teachers imdiately went to greet it.
"Professor Harlan!"
The elderly man with white hair got out of the car and energetically greeted them, "Hello, hello."
He spoke in broken Mandarin, and Willow Grant seized the chance to speak with the newly learned Aurelia accent: "Your Chinese is excellent!"
Professor Harlan promptly turned his attention to Willow and said in English, shaking his head: "This is just freshly learned Chinese. I know I don’t speak it well. Your complint is more than I deserve. But your Aurelia English is on par with my Chinese."
