Mother Huang and Lin Qianqian were eating in the company cafeteria for the first ti. Mother Huang was now utterly determined to ensure her son and Lin Qianqian ended up together. She spared no expense and adopted a shadowing tactic. Her rationale was simple: You say you have no free ti? Fine, then we’ll co to the company to be with you.
When Huang Xiaojue discovered the two of them were actually eating in the company cafeteria, his face drained of color. He had been so careful these past few days, doing his best to avoid the cafeteria, only for his mother to barge in with a woman, without so much as a word to him.
Neither Mother Huang nor Lin Qianqian had ever seen Huang Xiaojue look like this. Lin Qianqian, too, was startled. She was a pampered young lady who had never held a job, spending her days idly at ho. Her greatest ambition in life was to marry well and continue living a life of wealth and luxury. She had admired Huang Xiaojue’s tall and handso appearance from their first eting and had readily co along when Mother Huang invited her. Seeing things take a bad turn, Mother Huang imdiately whispered, "Qianqian, go wait for in the lounge for a mont."
Huang Xiaojue didn’t say a word, simply pulling his mother into his office.
Once the door was shut, he couldn’t hold back any longer. "Mom, this is my company, not a marketplace! Could you please, at least call before you show up next ti?"
"Whenever I call, you always have so excuse! Yesterday, you said you had to entertain clients. What is it today? It’s the weekend! Is it really that difficult to co ho for one al? I refuse to believe you can’t spare even a little ti. Xiaojue, you’re just giving us the runaround! If I didn’t co to your company to corner you, you’d keep standing us up like you always do. Xiaojue, how many girlfriends have I introduced to you? Wasn’t every single one of them outstanding? Take Qianqian, for instance. Huang Xiaojue ignored her, simply busying himself with tidying the items on his desk.
He packed a large bag, picked it up, and turned to walk out.
Mother Huang panicked. "Son, what are you doing?"
"Resigning!"
"Why would you resign?"
"To go ho and keep you company."
"Son, what are you trying to say?"
"Mom, you co here creating a disturbance every day. How can I possibly work like this? You know I’m the general manager. Hundreds of employees watch my every move. Family mbers constantly showing up and causing a disruption at the company—what kind of image does that create? I’m too ashad to continue working here. I’m not going to be the general manager anymore! I’ll go ho and keep you company. Forget one al; I’ll keep you company for a hundred years, it makes no difference to ."
Mother Huang was both angry and anxious. "You, child! How can you talk like that? You’re the general manager. How can you just resign?"
"It doesn’t matter if I resign. Dad and you can support . You can support for the rest of my life, and I’ll never work again."
Mother Huang retorted resentfully, "Fine! I won’t dare disturb you at your company anymore!"
He gave a wry smile. "And Mom, let make this crystal clear: I will absolutely not get together with Lin Qianqian. You should tactfully disabuse her of any such notions early on, to avoid needlessly offending her."
"Why not?"
"I’m busy with my career!"
"Your career is already good enough."
"No, it’s far from enough. The first thing I do when I wake up every day is check the Forbes Rich List. As long as my na still isn’t on it, I won’t rest for a single day."
Seeing her son’s cheeky grin, Mother Huang let out a long sigh. "Forget it. Your wings have hardened; I can’t control you anymore."
