"Miss, if you go to your window and look down, what do you think you’ll see?"
Yan Xixi was even more curious. She really walked to the window and peered out but saw nothing.
"Miss, do you see it?"
"See what?"
"A pile of dog poop."
She laughed out of annoyance. "You’re disgusting! Don’t you know I’m cooking?"
"What are you cooking?"
"Sautéed flowering cabbage, stir-fried fiddlehead ferns, cold-tossed chicken slices with asparagus in chili oil, poached shrimp, and a large pork bone and vegetable soup. Well? Are you interested?"
She deliberately boasted, "I’ve also made two desserts: papaya and white fungus soup, and mango mousse. Would you like to try my culinary skills? My mango mousse is out of this world..."
He let out a cheer.
These were her signature dishes. When they were together, whenever she needed a favor or sensed he was in a bad mood, she would always make a few excellent small dishes. His absolute favorite among them was the cold-tossed chicken slices with asparagus. It was her original creation. Afterwards, he’d never tasted anything like it in any fine dining restaurant, no matter how good. He even had the family chef try to replicate it, but they could never quite capture that unique flavor.
And the mango mousse... He rembered she had made that dessert the night before they broke up. He usually disliked sweets, but that night, he had eaten it with great relish.
Now, hearing about these dishes, his mouth was watering. Especially when he secretly glanced up from the tree-lined avenue, he could see her head sticking out of the window. Even from such a distance, he could make out the healthy glow on her face. She practically seed to radiate light, and even her casual ho clothes looked so chic and beautiful on her.
How could he possibly stay put? He picked up his phone, preparing to head over alone.
"As it happens, I’m hungry. Miss, would you welco for dinner?"
She was taken aback, suddenly feeling a bit weird, and once again leaned out the window to look around. It was rush hour; people were coming and going in the residential community. But after a few glances, she didn’t see any familiar faces on the boulevard.
However, she didn’t notice a row of parked cars. That was the temporary parking lot next to the community’s tennis court. Wan Donglin had arrived stealthily, naturally keeping a very low profile. He hadn’t driven any luxury car; otherwise, if Yan Xixi had seen its emblem, she would have recognized it imdiately.
"Miss, you said you were going to treat!"
A thought struck her, and she suddenly asked, "Where are you now?"
"Does it matter where I am?"
"Of course! We’re about to start dinner. You definitely won’t make it in ti."
"Miss, stop making excuses. As long as you invite , I’ll be there in minutes."
"Hey, Freeloader, are you for real?"
"Absolutely! Unless you’re planning to go back on your word and not treat ."
She realized he was serious—he was really coming to her place for dinner tonight! For so reason, she felt a vague sense of unease. Arriving in minutes!
It was as if she were completely transparent to him, with no privacy whatsoever—just like how he used to tease her relentlessly back then.
She hadn’t expected this. He knew she’d changed her address and moved in with Xu Xiaoya? How could he possibly know?
Could such a coincidence really exist in this world?
She’d actually known this ’Freeloader’ for quite so ti now—more than half a year by a rough count. Even if he were a stranger, just eting up wouldn’t be a big deal. But eting for the first ti at her ho... based on her past experiences, that was very dangerous.
