Upon hearing Ning Wan agree, a glimr of a cunning plan succeeding flashed in Ning Yan’er’s eyes, but it was fleeting. She looked at Ning Wan and said, "A bet naturally cos with rewards and penalties, though I haven’t thought of any yet. Since you agreed, the loser should fulfill one request from the winner, what do you say?"
Ning Wan didn’t answer right away but looked at Ning Yan’er and asked, "What if neither of us becos his woman?"
Ning Yan’er wasn’t bothered and imdiately replied, "Then let’s consider the bet nonexistent."
The reason she wagered was that she felt quite confident about becoming Xi Mohan’s woman. If she wasn’t confident, she wouldn’t have bet with Ning Wan.
After all, Xi Mohan is the man she is determined to get.
When Ning Wan left the house, three hours had already passed.
She carried a four-layer insulated lunch box in one hand and a thermos in the other. The lunch box was filled with dishes she had specially prepared, and the thermos contained soup she had simred for over two hours.
Without using the family driver, Ning Wan called a taxi. As soon as she stepped out of the villa, she saw the taxi parked at the door. She quickly opened the car door and got in, then said to the driver, "Sir, please take to Xi Group."
The driver seed to be a warm person. He glanced back at Ning Wan and smiled, "Young lady, are you delivering lunch to your parents?"
Ning Wan, known for her good nature, shook her head, "No, I’m not."
Thinking about eting Xi Mohan made Ning Wan feel a bit excited inside. She had spent more than two hours on the al and tasted it herself; it was quite good, especially since it was sothing Xi Mohan liked.
Every noon, she would deliver lunch to Xi Mohan, but she rarely got to see him, as it was usually handed to his assistant.
She wondered if Xi Mohan had actually eaten the als she prepared. Despite his dislike for her, the food itself was innocent.
The driver, seeing her smiling face in the rearview mirror, seed to understand instantly. With a deepening smile, he said, "So you’re delivering lunch to soone you like?"
Ning Wan nodded and made a sound of acknowledgnt.
The driver imdiately laughed, his affection for Ning Wan soaring, and said, "Just by looking at you, it was obvious. I’ve been a driver for many years, and it’s my first ti picking up a custor as nice as you. The Xi Group is about an hour’s drive from here."
Ning Wan smiled but said nothing.
The driver was quite enthusiastic, chatting with Ning Wan the entire way, even sharing stories of courting his wife in his youth. He couldn’t keep quiet, but Ning Wan didn’t find him too noisy. Instead, she thought the taxi driver was pretty adorable and decided she would take his car again next ti, so she asked for his business card before getting off.
It wasn’t her first visit to the Xi Group. Her daily visits had made her quite familiar to the reception, allowing her access to the top floor without hindrance.
Xi Mohan had only recently taken over Xi Group. Many tasks required his personal attention. It was from his assistant that Ning Wan learned that, as Xi Group was getting on track, Xi Mohan had to work overti in the office every noon and didn’t have ti to go out for lunch. He had been eating takeout for more than a month.
So, after learning this from the assistant, Ning Wan started cooking lunch for Xi Mohan herself the next day.
Entering the elevator, Ning Wan pressed the button for the thirty-sixth floor. Just as the elevator doors were about to close, a hurried voice ca from outside, "Hold the elevator, please don’t close the doors..."
Hearing the voice, Ning Wan quickly pressed the open button. Fortunately, she reacted swiftly, and the elevator opened again just in ti.
As the doors opened, Ning Wan saw a young man quickly approaching the elevator. He was dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, holding a suit jacket in his hand. He wore glasses, looking gentle and refined, with an impressive deanor.
