“Dad, why are you being so dictatorial?” Su Qingyu couldn’t help but say.
“Last ti I asked you to marry Ye, you called dictatorial. Are you regretting it now?” Su Pengzhan said with a smile.
“That’s completely different.” Su Qingyu snorted coldly. “It’s dangerous for him in the military, I think he could develop in the business world.”
“That’s your subjective wish, Qingyu. This is Ye’s own choice; you can’t be so dominant.” Su Pengzhan persuaded her earnestly. “Ye wanted to beco a military instructor, but you outright rejected it. You think I don’t know about it?”
“Dad, this is between my brother-in-law and sister. Please, don’t get involved,” Su Ziqing spoke up timidly.
“Go back to your room.” Su Pengzhan’s face turned cold, and Su Ziqing was instantly terrified.
“Don’t think about secretly communicating with Ye; I’m staying right here today.” After hearing this, Su Qingyu was displeased but utterly helpless. She had always been the obedient girl, never opposed her father, but this ti, she was determined to object.

“Kai, I just thought of sothing,” Chen Yuxin said to Ye Shikai while having breakfast and chatting on the plane.
“What is it?” Ye Shikai took a sip of the thick soup, speaking indifferently.
“I thought you were doing business overseas, but it turns out there’s an organization backing you.” Chen Yuxin took a sip of coffee and Ye Shikai’s utensils suddenly paused in his hands upon hearing this.
“An organization, indeed there is one.” Ye Shikai continued eating his bacon without hiding it, directly admitting to it.
“It looks like you’ve been investigating again,” Ye Shikai said coldly. Chen Yuxin understood the implication; no one likes being investigated, especially by soone close to them—because it’s not just about privacy but also about trust. Ye Shikai was particularly sensitive to this.
“Yes, I did investigate you.” Chen Yuxin was equally straightforward and then retorted, “Haven’t you investigated before?”
“Heh, it seems we are even then,” Ye Shikai suddenly laughed. Then, he put the utensils down and asked the flight attendant to remove the breakfast, leaning back against the seat, looking sowhat drained. “Xin, can we not ‘question’ each other in this way?”
“Can’t we be honest with each other?”
“Sure.” Chen Yuxin nodded. “Kai, ever since Chen Ruoya gave your investigative report last ti, I’ve been very interested in the forces behind you.”
“What kind of interest?” The look on Ye Shikai’s face beca colder as he felt the gravity of the situation.
“I want to see how powerful the organization that helped you conquer territories is.”
“Xin, I suggest it’s better that you don’t know,” Ye Shikai turned his head away, saying coldly.
“What, getting impatient so soon?” Chen Yuxin wasn’t displeased but instead smiled and leaned her head to the side, propping it up with one hand.
“Maybe I’ll take you to see when there’s a chance,” Ye Shikai said with a wry smile.
“Alright, just don’t break your promise.”
“Xin, we have ti, let’s go back to our high school together,” Ye Shikai unexpectedly blurted out after a while.
“Going back to high school is a good idea; I could even host a high school reunion,” Chen Yuxin said, rubbing her temple with her index finger.
“For soone of your status, it probably wouldn’t be appropriate to attend our ‘ordinary’ class reunion,” Ye Shikai teased.
“No worries, no one knows my identity except for you.” Ye Shikai understood what she ant. Just as commoners don’t know what the emperor looks like, Chen Yuxin’s status was too high, out of reach for ordinary people, and thus unknown to them. Furthermore, since she transferred out of high school midway, she probably lost contact with those classmates.
“Then let’s just go with the flow,” Ye Shikai pulled out his phone and found his high school class group chat in a ssaging app. Not many people spoke there; most were just lurking.
“Kai, why do you want to go back to high school?” Chen Yuxin asked with a smile.
“High school was great; no need to be as tired as we are now.”
“Yeah, that’s true.”

“The day after tomorrow afternoon, high school reunion, rember to be there,” Chen Yuxin suddenly said to Ye Shikai not long after disembarking the plane.
“That’s so soon, when did you arrange it?” Ye Shikai was shocked; he had just ntioned it, and Chen Yuxin already took care of it.
“Just now, in the restroom, I had Chen Ruoya handle it,” Chen Yuxin said indifferently. Ye Shikai checked his phone, and sure enough, the high school group chat was buzzing with life, with most just exchanging pleasantries, but that was the norm.
“How did you do it?”
“I offered the class president so perks to initiate the reunion,” Chen Yuxin said, waggling her phone, smiling smugly.
“If I’m not mistaken, you also asked the class president to cancel their own attendance last minute under the pretense of a sudden urgent matter,” Ye Shikai nodded in understanding. Money indeed talks; the “so perks” she ntioned must be a significant fortune for the class president. The reason for their absence was probably a precaution, in case the president would let sothing slip.
“A free feast, I bet they won’t decline.”
“You seem to think too little of our old classmates,” Ye Shikai said with an embarrassed face.
“Zhu Xi Hotel’s luxury private room costs a hundred thousand RMB per table; you think they would co so willingly if it weren’t free.”
“Fine, let’s say you’re treating the whole class to a al,” Ye Shikai laughed. “You left back then without a farewell dinner; consider this makeup for it.”
“If that’s the case, then you should pay for it,” Chen Yuxin said with a sly smile.
“Why?”
“You forgot why I left without saying goodbye.”

“Really, why are they not here to pick up when I co back?” Ye Shikai drove back to his neighborhood, and as soon as he opened the front door, he was startled by the scene in front of him. Su Pengzhan was sitting right in the middle of the sofa, with the two sisters on either side.
“Well, Dad, you ca and didn’t even let know,” Ye Shikai said with a smile.
“Ye, you’re back. Have a seat,” Su Pengzhan’s brows relaxed slightly, gesturing to the sofa beside him. “I ca here today to ask you about taking up the position as a military instructor.”
