Rona Langdon paused for a mont before continuing, "Children with good language arts scores have strong communication skills and are better at dealing with people. Look, she got an eighty-two in language arts. That must be the highest score in her class. The test was probably a bit difficult this ti, so her score is a little lower than usual. A result like this is definitely not sothing Vera Xavier can compare to!"
Rona Langdon was still shalessly singing Cara Preston’s praises when Cara, hearing the keywords "scores" and "Vera Xavier," finally snapped back to her senses.

Rona Langdon shot her a glare, signaling for her not to interrupt. Then she said with a smile, "Cara has always been far more outstanding than Vera Xavier. You probably don’t know this, but Vera Xavier has a really bad temper..."
Master Nathan simply couldn’t listen anymore and cut in, "I happen to like girls with a temper. As for those who seem docile on the surface, they’re either pushovers with no opinions of their own, or they’re hiding a bellyful of sinister intentions."
Rona Langdon didn’t dare to refute him. He smiled, placed Vera Xavier’s test paper on the table, and said, "Vera is not only excellent, but she’s also humble about it. A girl like that—magnanimous and composed—is a really good match for our Nathaniel."
Rona Langdon was about to say sothing else, but a glance fell upon Vera Xavier’s test paper. Whether Master Nathan had done it intentionally or not, he had placed her language arts test, with its score of ninety-eight, right on top.
Rona Langdon felt as if an invisible hand had just slapped her hard across the face.
Even with skin as thick as a fortress wall, she couldn’t quite bear it. The expression on her face was a sight to behold.
Cara Preston’s expression was even uglier. She had been trying so hard to show her best side to Nathaniel Nathan, but she never expected to be so thoroughly humiliated this ti!
She turned and shot Vera Xavier a look, her eyes filled with unconcealed hatred. She had already been deeply humiliated at school today, and now she had to be humiliated again at ho!
Zachary Preston didn’t look too pleased either. Rona Langdon had well and truly lost face today.
Master Nathan smiled at Zachary Preston and asked, "What do you think of my earlier proposal?"
Zachary Preston replied seriously, "This isn’t the old society anymore; arranged marriages are out of fashion. I think we can let Nathaniel and Vera spend so ti together and see how it goes. If they’re a good match, then everyone will be happy. If not, we can’t force it. Besides, Vera hasn’t even graduated from high school yet, so there’s no need to rush things."
Master Nathan agreed with Zachary Preston’s words. He smiled and said, "That’s exactly what I an. Let the two of them get to know each other. I, for one, am quite satisfied with Vera."
After he finished speaking, he turned to Nathaniel Nathan and said, "Vera has her college entrance exams coming up soon, so try not to disturb her too much during this period. She must be studying incredibly hard right now. When you go back, bring so of our family’s nutritional supplents over for her. Make sure she’s well-nourished so she doesn’t ruin her health studying."
His instructions sounded reasonable enough, but the ssage was crystal clear: the supplents were for Vera Xavier, and Vera Xavier alone.
As for the Preston family’s other daughter who was also taking the college entrance exams? Sorry, she wasn’t part of the equation.
Of course, Nathaniel Nathan wasn’t going to object to Master Nathan’s arrangents, so he imdiately nodded.
Master Nathan exchanged a few more pleasantries with Zachary Preston, and then he and Nathaniel Nathan took their leave.
