Vera Xavier was finally furious. She had originally thought Skylar Crowe was just Susan Caldwell’s muscle, and since Skylar had also suffered terribly at Susan’s hands in their past life, they were practically in the sa boat. She hadn’t planned on giving Skylar a hard ti, only wanting to teach her a small lesson so she’d know when to quit.
But she never expected Skylar Crowe to be so vicious. If that sharpened bamboo pole had actually stabbed her, it would have punched a huge hole right through her. She would have been either dead or severely injured.
Vera Xavier quickly shed her jacket and, with a reverse twist of her hand, wrapped it directly around the bamboo pole. She lifted her foot and kicked Skylar Crowe in the chest, then followed up with a rapid succession of kicks that sent Skylar flying once again.
After Skylar Crowe hit the ground, Vera leaped to her side and plopped right down on her chest. She showed Skylar no more rcy, raising a hand and slapping her across the face. "This is for bumping into earlier."
She followed with a backhand slap. "This is to teach you for running your mouth!"
"This is for hitting !"
"And this is on behalf of your parents, to teach you so manners."
She struck with incredible speed. WHAP, WHAP, WHAP! She delivered more than a dozen slaps, swelling Skylar Crowe’s face until it looked like a pig’s head. Skylar was completely powerless to fight back.
Upstairs, Jack Judd and Aaron Cheney heard the commotion and, fearing she was in trouble, rushed downstairs.
But when they got down, they saw her unleashing her fury and teaching soone a lesson. The two of them breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Vera Xavier wasn’t on the losing end, everything was fine.
Jack Judd leaned closer to Aaron Cheney. "Don’t you think Vera is a little... ferocious?"
Aaron Cheney and Jack Judd had gotten to know each other well on the train ride over, and they usually spent their free ti bickering.
Aaron Cheney said with a proud look, "She’s Third Brother’s woman. How could she be so pushover? Vera is usually so good-tempered. If she’s hitting soone, that woman must have been asking for a beating!"
Jack Judd chewed on his finger. "I an, I’m sure Vera is in the right, but I’m still so scared! I’ve decided. From now on, I’m going to cling to her leg for dear life. I will never, ever offend her. I’ll spend every day keeping her happy!"
He suddenly felt he’d been incredibly bold to have provoked her in the past. As he watched her puml Skylar Crowe, his own cheeks started to ache in sympathy.
"Just save it!" Aaron Cheney said with contempt. "Keeping Vera happy is Third Brother’s job. If you do his job for him, what’s he supposed to do? Watch out, or Third Brother will destroy you!"
Jack Judd heard this and thought it made a lot of sense; that plan seed even more dangerous. So, he clapped his hands and shouted, "Vera is mighty! Vera is a badass! Vera, beat that arrogant little bitch to death!"
Aaron Cheney disagreed. "Stop egging her on. What if Vera really hurts her badly in a fit of rage? We’re far from ho; it’s better to keep a low profile."
"But we’ve still got Third Brother, don’t we?" Jack Judd said confidently.
Aaron Cheney thought about it for a mont. "Good point! Go, Vera! If you get tired, just call for us!"
Hearing their conversation, Vera Xavier was speechless with exasperation. ’Could they be any more useless? They just stand there watching fight, not lifting a finger to help, and now they’re giving comntary? Unbelievable.’
By now, most of her anger had dissipated. There was no need to bother with Skylar Crowe any longer.
So she stood up, gave Skylar Crowe one last kick, and said, "Get lost!"
Skylar Crowe was dazed from the beating. In her entire life, no one had ever dared to hit her like that!
She clutched her face and snarled, "You just wait! I won’t let you get away with this!"
