"Cursed Spirit Manipulation..."

"No wonder you've set your sights on this body."

Mirai put down his teacup. He stood up and placed a hand on the coffin lid.

"Before Yuta Okkotsu appeared, there were only three Special Grade Sorcerers. Now, maybe we should add to the list."

"But the easiest one to target... is Suguru Geto."

Kenjaku watched him, his eyes filled with calculated awe. "You really don't take non-sorcerers seriously at all."

Mirai sat back down. "After all, you're an old monster who's lived for a thousand years."

"But using residuals to judge my surveillance... you'd better change that habit. Humans have evolved. Technology is dangerous."

"Micro-caras. Drones. Satellites."

"Even a thousand-year-old sorcerer can be caught on 4K video."

Kenjaku smiled. "Indeed. I underestimated the monkeys' toys."

"But speaking of underestimating..."

Kenjaku's smile widened.

"Anti-Gravity System: Reversal."

BOOM!!

The gravity in the pavilion suddenly inverted and multiplied by a hundredfold.

The floor shattered. The stone table turned to dust.

A massive, bottomless pit opened up beneath them, swallowing the entire structure. The dense Cursed Energy transford into a crushing tide of black gravity, pulling everything into the abyss.

...

The Underground.

The impact shook the entire estate.

In the Second Basent Level, Naobito and Hisashi exchanged terrified glances.

In the workshop, Juzo stopped hamring.

In the farm, Haruta accidentally killed a Cursed Spirit in surprise.

Creak.

The wooden door opposite the workshop opened a crack. Sothing inside was waking up.

...

The Pit.

"I really don't take you seriously," Kenjaku murmured, looking down at the darkness.

"Especially soone like you, a so-called Special Grade."

"How could I walk into a trap without knowing your weakness?"

Information from the Kamo Clan. Data from the Higher-ups.

Zenin Mirai.

Ten Shadows. Space Manipulation. Wood Release.

"There is no such thing as a perfect technique," Kenjaku whispered.

"Your intangibility isn't active 24/7. When you attack, when you walk, when you pick up a teacup... you are solid."

"I waited for the mont you touched the cup. That was your opening."

"Even a Special Grade would be crushed into at paste by this gravity. Except Gojo Satoru."

Kenjaku peered into the dust.

"So impatient?"

A mocking voice echoed from the abyss.

RUMBLE!

A terrifying surge of Cursed Energy erupted like a volcano.

Countless withered branches shot out of the pit, piercing the gravity field like spears.

Wood Release: Tree Throne.

A massive throne made of twisted roots rose from the darkness. Mirai sat upon it, unhard. His legs were crossed, his chin resting on his hand. His crimson eyes glowed in the dust.

"Since you plan to change bodies anyway... getting a little injured shouldn't matter, right?"

Mirai raised a finger.

"Technique Expansion: Shock."

BOOM!

An invisible shockwave blasted outward.

"Wait—!" Kenjaku's eyes widened.

CRACK!

Kenjaku's legs exploded.

Muscle, bone, and blood turned into mist.

"GAH!"

Kenjaku collapsed, his lower half gone. He fell onto the rubble, looking up at Mirai with shock and fear.

"You really shouldn't be underestimated, Ancient One," Mirai said coldly. "If it weren't for these eyes, I might have been tricked."

"Can't we just talk things out?"

Mirai shook his head, looking disappointed. "This was a gift I prepared for you. Why make such a fuss?"

...

The Negotiation.

Sizzle.

Steam rose from Kenjaku's stumps.

Reverse Cursed Technique.

Flesh knitted together. Bones regrew. Skin ford.

In seconds, a pair of long, pale legs were reconstructed.

Kenjaku stood up, naked from the waist down, but unbothered. He glared at Mirai.

"Speak your terms."

"See? It would have been so much better if we did this sooner."

Mirai waved his hand.

Withered branches twisted out of the ground, forming two new sofas and a table. He even placed a fresh pot of tea on the table.

Mirai sat down.

"Now... let's get back to business."

"You want Suguru Geto's body."

"Na your price."
