Gu Jiaojiao was a little surprised.

Her cousin had transmigrated into a book she wrote, and even with a cheat ability, had managed to ruin her reputation to this extent.

She couldn’t help but be impressed.

Chen Xiaoli knew she shouldn’t air her family’s dirty laundry in public, but she just couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Lately, Xu Chongfeng and Xu Chongshan had been acting as if they were possessed, doting on Xu Wenwan so much they wouldn’t even let her lift a finger.

Even her father-in-law, who was usually strict with Xu Wenwan, was now spoiling her rotten.

Chen Xiaoli felt there was sothing wrong with the whole family.

If it weren’t for the fact that Xu Chongfeng still had feelings for her—and that while he protected Xu Wenwan, he never let his wife suffer any real injustice—she would have stopped putting up with it long ago.

Now, her mother-in-law had given her money and asked for her help buying cotton and fabric.

Needless to say, it was definitely to make a new quilt for her sister-in-law.

The family hadn’t split their assets, so part of that money was hers. She couldn’t control what others did, but she was not willing to let her share be spent on Xu Wenwan.

But no matter how unhappy she was, her mother-in-law had spoken. Besides, she claid it was her own money, so Chen Xiaoli couldn’t cause a scene.

She could only help run the errand.

Gu Jiaojiao had just been worrying about where to buy more cotton and cotton cloth!

Hearing that Chen Xiaoli had such a connection, she instantly beca much more enthusiastic.

"Sister-in-law, don’t worry so much. All that worrying will spoil your pretty face."

"It’s not worth it."

Hearing this, Chen Xiaoli touched her own face, glanced at Gu Jiaojiao, and then took a deep breath.

"You’re right. I won’t worry."

Gu Jiaojiao smiled. "That’s the spirit. It’s everyone’s money anyway. If she spends it, you should spend it too."

Chen Xiaoli’s eyes widened.

"If we spend like that, how will we get by!"

The family only got two or three hundred yuan a year. Spending like that, it wasn’t nearly enough.

Gu Jiaojiao sighed helplessly and offered Chen Xiaoli a new perspective. "Sister-in-law, you need to think bigger. Let it go for your own sake. Even your sister-in-law knows how to pursue a better life, so why are you holding back?"

"Besides, you don’t control the family’s finances. What’s there for you to worry about?"

Gu Jiaojiao leaned in close to say the last sentence, then gave a mischievous wink.

But Chen Xiaoli felt as if the gates to a whole new world had just opened.

’That’s right! If money’s being spent, we should all spend it together!’

’I’m earning money, too. Why can’t I spend it?’

Chen Xiaoli saw the light and imdiately ward up to Gu Jiaojiao.

The two of them chatted happily for the rest of the way.

Before she transmigrated, Gu Jiaojiao had t all sorts of people. After just a few words, she could tell what soone wanted to hear. As long as she wanted to, she could get along with anyone.

She knew Chen Xiaoli was unhappy about Xu Wenwan, so she brought up her situation briefly before changing the subject to her son’s studies.

Chen Xiaoli’s son attended the primary school over at the commune, and his grades were excellent.

Sure enough, as soon as the conversation turned to her son’s schooling, Chen Xiaoli’s face lit up with a smile.

Gu Jiaojiao was knowledgeable and worldly, and the ideas she shared were things Chen Xiaoli had never considered before. Chen Xiaoli listened, completely captivated.

It wasn’t just Chen Xiaoli; even so of the older aunties on the cart couldn’t help but be drawn into the conversation.

’This is just as good as gossip!’

When they got off the ox-cart, everyone still felt the conversation had ended too soon.

The two aunties even specifically asked Gu Jiaojiao when she was coming back and if she’d be taking the ox-cart, suggesting they travel together!

Gu Jiaojiao smiled and agreed to everything, but Wu Cuizhi silently kept her distance.

Gu Jiaojiao saw everyone off, then walked a few steps to the side with Chen Xiaoli. She hesitated for a mont before speaking.

"Sister-in-law, to be honest with you, I want to buy so cotton and fabric too, but I don’t have enough fabric ration coupons. I was wondering if you might know a way."
