Old Mrs. Leng pounded her cane on the ground.
She knew her comfortable life was all because her grandsons had made sothing of themselves.
Five of her six grandsons had jobs in the city.
Leng Yuan didn’t count.

But just ntioning these good grandsons of hers made her old face beam with pride.

She stood up, glaring coldly at her two daughters-in-law.

Old Mrs. Leng shot Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng a condemnatory look. Completely ignoring their attempts to block her, she walked out, leaning on her cane.
Seeing that the old woman was serious, Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng hurriedly chased after her.
The last thing they wanted was for their sons to co back and be farrs.
Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang also rushed out after them.

The old woman was dead set on going.

She ordered Leng Qiushou.

The old woman instructed her two daughters-in-law.

Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng wanted to say sothing, but one glare from the old woman silenced them.
They exchanged a look, both understanding the aning in the other’s eyes.

Inside the kitchen, Gu Jiaojiao was mincing at.
Her pickled vegetables were ready, and with plenty of pork in the house, she planned to make dumplings.
Gu Jiaojiao was in the middle of cutting the at when there was a knock on the main gate.
Leng Yuan was in his room writing, so Gu Jiaojiao didn’t call for him and went to open the gate herself.

The old woman stepped forward with her cane, looking Gu Jiaojiao up and down with critical eyes.

As she spoke, Gu Jiaojiao didn’t even glance at the cleaver in her hand.
The blade spun once around her fingertip before landing steadily back in her grip.
The old woman’s face twitched. After a mont’s thought, her tone suddenly softened considerably.
"You must be Jiaojiao! I’m Leng Yuan’s grandmother. I have sothing to discuss with him."
