Gu Jiaojiao’s voice was gentle, but she didn’t put away the cleaver in her hand.
The old woman wanted to enter, but the cleaver in her hand was intimidating, so she could only stand at the gate.

When Gu Jiaojiao offered a single polite phrase and nothing more, the old woman had no choice but to suggest they talk inside the courtyard.

As she spoke, she stole a glance at the courtyard behind Gu Jiaojiao.
Clean, neat, and spacious.
This courtyard was much larger than the one they occupied, and it had more rooms. It was even big enough for their whole family to move in.
She was itching to go inside and have a proper look.
But, intimidated by the cleaver in Gu Jiaojiao’s hand, she could only stand at the gate and look on with envy.
Gu Jiaojiao didn’t much care for the old woman before her; the look in her eyes was full of scheming.
So she didn’t bother being polite.
"Oh? This is how I talk. If you don’t like it, go ahead and report to the county."
With that, she slamd the courtyard gate shut.
The old woman was dumbfounded, pointing at the closed gate.
"She... she dares to treat like this?"
At ho, her sons and grandsons were all obedient. Even her daughters-in-law didn’t dare raise their voices at her.
And now, she had been publicly humiliated by a granddaughter-in-law.
The old woman was having none of it.
"Bang on the door! Get Leng Yuan out here! I’d like to see if he dares to disrespect , his own grandmother!"
Leng Qiushou hesitated.
The old woman urged him on again.
He had no choice but to step forward and knock on the gate again.
anwhile, Gu Jiaojiao had gone to their room and told Leng Yuan that Grandma Leng had arrived and was at the gate.
Leng Yuan wasn’t surprised that Grandma Leng had co.
He had been expecting this ever since Leng Qiushou ca back.
Leng Yuan stood up, patted Gu Jiaojiao’s head, and murmured softly.

Gu Jiaojiao nodded.
Only then did Leng Yuan leave the room, walk to the entrance, and open the gate.
Seeing Leng Yuan, the old woman took a few fearful steps back.
Then she rembered her position: she was his grandmother.
She imdiately steadied herself with her cane and fixed Leng Yuan with a cold glare.

Leng Yuan ignored the old woman, his gaze shifting to Leng Qiushou and Leng ManCang instead.
The two n flinched and backed away several steps.
They scrambled to explain.
"We tried to stop her! It was Grandma who insisted on coming over. We really did try to stop her."
"Yes, we tried to stop her! We really did!"
They were terrified.
The mory of being pinned to the ground and beaten senseless by Leng Yuan was still etched into their muscles. Even though it had been years, the mont they saw him, they could feel the phantom pain.
They had made a mistake.
They should have dragged Grandma back and stopped her from coming over.
Grandma Leng, however, remained as arrogant as ever.
"What, are you going to hit them right in front of ? Go on, I dare you to lay a finger on them."
Upon hearing this, Leng Yuan strode forward and sent Leng Qiushou to the ground with a single punch.
When Leng ManCang moved to intervene, Leng Yuan simply pinned him to the ground and started beating him as well.
Aunt Leng and Third Aunt Leng started to step forward.
Leng Yuan’s voice was calm.
"If you dare co any closer, I’ll hit them even harder."
The two won didn’t dare approach, they could only beg for rcy with their words.
"Leng Yuan, we know we were wrong! Please stop! Those are your cousins! Stop it!"
The old woman was livid. Gripping her cane, she started forward. How dare he hit soone right in front of her! She was going to teach this insolent grandson, who didn’t know his place, a harsh lesson.
