"Go on, go to bed."
Leng Yuan let out a breath, suppressing the desire stirring in his heart. He raised a hand and ruffled her hair, keeping his voice as steady as possible.
His heart ached for his wife, who had been busy all day with Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang. He was afraid of tiring her out, so he hadn’t planned on touching her tonight.
Gu Jiaojiao, having had her fun, felt satisfied. When she heard Leng Yuan speak, she didn’t want to disturb his reading any longer and prepared to get up.
But as she did, her gaze fell on his prominent Adam’s apple.
Leng Yuan was well-proportioned. His neck was exceptionally long and slender, and when his Adam’s apple bobbed, Gu Jiaojiao found it incredibly sexy.
It was the first ti she’d ever thought a man’s Adam’s apple could be so sexy.
Gu Jiaojiao’s lively eyes darted as a mischievous glint appeared in them.
Whenever she wore that expression, she was definitely up to no good.
Leng Yuan helplessly patted her head and was just about to speak.
Gu Jiaojiao made her decision.
’I’ll just steal a quick kiss, then go to sleep.’
Before he could react, Gu Jiaojiao boldly kissed him.
His body tilted back uncontrollably, and he nearly fell out of his chair.
Gu Jiaojiao yelped, instinctively throwing her arms around his neck.
The man steadied himself, the words ground out from between his teeth.
"Gu Jiaojiao."
Gu Jiaojiao...
Leng Yuan had never used such a grave tone, nor had he ever called her by her full na.
’Did I hurt him just now?’
Gu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but look up, only to et a pair of eyes swirling like a tempest, like a vortex that could suck a person’s very soul inside.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she let out a dry laugh.
"I... I’ll go to sleep right now."
She didn’t dare look at Leng Yuan’s neck to see if she’d left a mark; her animal instincts scread at her to get away, and fast.
The book had fallen from his hands at so point. Now, his gaze was dark as he looked at the little woman in his arms, and a humorless laugh escaped him.
He yanked her back, his voice dangerously low.
"Jiaojiao, thinking of going to sleep now? Too late."
Gu Jiaojiao shook her head.
"No, it’s not too late."
’I can probably still get a reprieve,’ she thought. ’I can definitely fall asleep this ti!’
But the man was forceful, leaving no room for refusal.
Gu Jiaojiao...
’This man has gone crazy,’ she thought. ’Absolutely insane.’
An indeterminate amount of ti passed before Gu Jiaojiao felt utterly drained.
But the man continued to wear her down patiently.
’That’s it,’ she decided. ’From now on, that spot is a forbidden zone. I’m never eyeing it again.’
In the end, Gu Jiaojiao’s mory was a blank. She didn’t know if she’d passed out from sheer exhaustion or from his relentless assault, let alone when he had finally finished.
In any event, Gu Jiaojiao slept straight through until broad daylight before she groggily opened her eyes.
She tried to move, but her whole body ached as if she’d been dismantled and reassembled.
She stared at the ceiling beams for a long mont until her head cleared, then she sat up and got dressed.
Gu Jiaojiao had no energy. It was as if she’d slept last night, and yet, hadn’t slept at all.
After washing up, she stepped outside. A gust of wind hit her, and she was instantly awake.
The snow had stopped soti during the night.
But it must have been knee-deep.
And yet the courtyard was now spotless, having clearly been swept.
Gu Jiaojiao...
’Looks like I’m the laziest one in the family.’
Even Sweet Girl and Xiao Yang were out with brooms, helping sweep the snow from the doorway.
’No, I’m not lazy. I was just exhausted by Leng Yuan.’
’I refuse to take the fall for this.’
Gu Jiaojiao gave herself a ntal pep talk, but still couldn’t stop the blush from creeping up her face.
Throughout the entire Qingshan Team, there truly wasn’t anyone who woke up later than her.
