Yang Qingxi lowered her gaze slightly.

"Maybe... if we hadn’t sent him to prison," she said quietly, "so many people wouldn’t have died."

The words lingered in the room, carrying a weight that neither of them could ignore.

Su Mo looked at her for a mont, then let out a faint breath.

"Don’t bla yourself, Miss Yang."

His tone was calm, though he himself was quite shocked by this incident. It wasn’t a reason to bla oneself.

"Sending him to prison and what he chose to do afterwards are two different things."

He leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees.

"If soone commits murder, you don’t bla their teacher for teaching them wrong. Nor do you bla their parents for giving birth to them."

His gaze t hers.

"What Ye Chen did... was his choice."

He paused briefly before continuing. "If anything, what we should focus on now is stopping him before he causes even more trouble."

Yang Qingxi looked at him quietly.

Her expression gradually eased.

Yes...

Even if they hadn’t sent Ye Chen to prison, soone like him would have found another place to unleash his violence. He wasn’t soone whose hands were clean to begin with.

As the leader of a rcenary group, there was already more blood on his hands than most people could imagine.

Blaming herself wouldn’t change anything.

What mattered now... was what ca next.

Just as Su Mo was about to reach for his phone again, Yang Qingxi spoke.

"There’s sothing else."

Su Mo paused and looked at her.

"What?"

Yang Qingxi took a breath, then said, "The system issued the reward settlent this morning."

Su Mo’s interest was imdiately piqued. "Oh? How was it?"

"More than I expected, but that’s not what I am talking about." Yang Qingxi waited for a bit before she said, "First... your guess was correct."

Su Mo raised a brow.

"Fan Biwang. She’s indeed one of the heroines."

For a mont, Su Mo was silent.

Then, his lips curved upward.

"Told you," he said with a faint smugness.

Yang Qingxi rolled her eyes slightly.

She continued, "In addition to Chu Jing, Leng Shuang, and Secretary Lin..."

She paused.

"There’s another na."

Su Mo’s expression beca more attentive.

"Who?"

"Dermila Ausburn."

Su Mo’s brows knit together slightly.

"Ausburn...?" he repeated.

His gaze turned thoughtful.

"A foreigner?"

[At least we can be certain she wasn’t at the party.]

[If there was a foreign beauty present, she would’ve stood out imdiately. There’s no way I would’ve missed it.]

Yang Qingxi’s eyes narrowed slightly when she heard his inner thoughts, but she remained silent.

Su Mo leaned back slightly, thinking.

"...You think she’s related to the Ausburn family from the Noerdon Country?"

Yang Qingxi nodded without hesitation.

"Highly likely."

[The Ausburn family... From what Leng Shuang told .... Even in the international sphere, that na carried weight.]

Su Mo tapped his finger lightly against his knee, his gaze turning deeper.

"Very well," he said after a mont. "We’ll have Leng Shuang look into it."

"She has the channels for this kind of information."

Yang Qingxi nodded in agreent.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Leng Shuang had arrived.

When she stepped in, her posture was slightly stiff. Her movents carried a faint trace of hesitation, as if she wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Before, though, she had offered herself to the master once. Then and now, the situation was different.

Besides, it was hard for her to fathom.

’How could Miss Yang agree to it? Didn’t she threaten just a few days ago?’

Her gaze briefly swept across the room, landing on both of them.

There was a hint of nervousness in her eyes.

But the mont Su Mo spoke, that nervousness disappeared instantly.

"Shuang," Su Mo said, "I need your help to investigate sothing."

Her expression sharpened. It seems she had misunderstood.

"What do you want to find, Master?"

Straight to the point. She was afraid that if she said anything wrong, Miss Yang, observing her from the side, might once again call her for a private talk.

Su Mo nodded slightly in satisfaction.

"Well, first—have you seen the morning news?"

Leng Shuang shook her head.

"No. Did sothing happen?"

Seeing her reaction, Su Mo didn’t waste ti and briefly explained the situation.

As he spoke, Leng Shuang’s expression gradually changed.

From calm to shock.

Her brow furrowed tightly.

"W-who could be behind sothing like this...?" she muttered. "Even in my entire career... I’ve never caused this many deaths at once."

Her tone carried genuine disbelief.

Su Mo remained silent for a mont, as if considering how much to reveal.

Then he spoke.

"Do you know a rcenary organisation called King’s Palace?"

Leng Shuang’s eyes flickered.

"Of course," she said. "They’re active internationally. One of the more dangerous groups."

She looked at him.

"What about them?"

Su Mo’s gaze sharpened slightly.

"The mastermind behind this... is their leader."

Leng Shuang froze.

"...What?"

Her mind imdiately began connecting pieces.

But before she could speak, Yang Qingxi added calmly,

"He was the one imprisoned for He Xiong’s murder case."

Leng Shuang’s pupils contracted.

mories surfaced instantly.

’Was it that man?’

She had seen him before.

At the ti, she had felt a faint sense of familiarity, but she hadn’t pursued it because she was busy taking revenge on the defaulters.

"No wonder..." she muttered softly. "I thought he looked familiar."

Su Mo didn’t dwell on it. He brought the conversation back on track.

"Anyway," he said, "I need you to find out where the bodies from the prison incident are being held."

Leng Shuang blinked slightly. The request was... unusual.

But she didn’t question it.

"Understood."

She nodded imdiately.

"Give a few minutes."

Without wasting ti, she turned and left the room.

Silence returned.

Yang Qingxi glanced at Su Mo.

"You’re really planning to use corpse puppetry?"

Su Mo nodded casually.

"If we want to understand what happened inside that prison, the dead are the most reliable witnesses."

Yang Qingxi didn’t argue.

It made sense.
