Chapter 125 : I Will Help You!

It was an interesting story, but Selina had not actually finished it. There was another part to the tale that people often passed around afterward.

After the Countess realized she had beco dependent on the nun’s blood, she still refused to keep her captive. Instead, she boldly attempted sothing unheard of for a Vampire—

She tried to court the nun, just as a human would.

Unbelievable.

How could a Vampire possibly be with a human? Just thinking about it sounded absurd.

Was that not no different from those perverse nobles who fancied animals?

Well… perhaps it was not quite that difficult to swallow.

Twenty minutes later, Selina returned to the operating table and leaned forward to examine the two test tubes placed side by side.

One belonged to a human.

The other belonged to Eve.

There was an obvious difference. A small drop from each had been placed onto the sa slide, separated only by a very thin dividing line.

Selina stared through the microscope as her brows slowly furrowed.

“Well? Well?” Annabella leaned over impatiently. “Do we have results?”

Selina ignored her. She observed silently for nearly half a minute before finally raising her head and turning to Eve.

“The result is even stranger than I imagined.”

The test results had truly shocked her.

Eve’s rejection of blood was not rely a matter of appetite.

Even the blood drawn from her body was “avoiding” the human blood beside it. It surged and churned violently, as if attempting to distance itself—or perhaps even showing a kind of aggression.

Selina spoke gravely.

“Without the blood you ntioned—the one you alone can drink—I cannot obtain more precise experintal data.”

“But…” she added thoughtfully, “I can boldly predict that the result would be completely different. Hmm… why not describe what it tastes like?”

Eve blinked.

Her tongue unconsciously brushed across her red lips. She did not even realize how revealing the gesture was and spoke only from instinct.

“It is fragrant… far more fragrant than anything I have tasted before. I can never have enough of it. It is like an addiction… If I cannot drink it, it becos unbearable…”

Annabella muttered from the side, “That sounds suspiciously like cocaine.”

“Tch!” Selina shot her an annoyed glare.

Annabella imdiately shrank back two steps, raising her hands in surrender.

“Please, please—go on.”

Selina looked back at the white-haired maid, who was already lost in her own recollection, as though she had forgotten the entire world.

There was no helping it.

Selina had never encountered anything like this before.

Anorexia—or aversion to feeding—was not uncommon among Vampires. Those who lived long enough often developed peculiar habits. So would drink only from virgins, others only from sworn enemies, and so refused to feed except on nights of blood moons.

But soone like Eve, who was not rely picky but could only drink the blood of a single person—

Selina did not even know where to begin.

dicine could not be used recklessly either.

If nothing else worked… perhaps it was ti to try a desperate gamble.

With that thought, she turned and opened a nearby freezer, retrieving her usual rations—a synthetic blood product. In truth, it only resembled blood in flavor. Nutritionally, it was little more than thin porridge.

“Try this,” she said.

Eve snapped out of her daze and took the packet.

The mont she saw it, however, she nearly threw it away. She had not even opened it yet, but her stomach was already rumbling in protest.

“Tch… I will try it.”

The next mont—

“Ugh…! Cough—!”

Eve nearly vomited on the spot.

The power of the reaction spoke for itself.

Selina handed her several tissues and took the packet back.

“Is it really that terrible? I think the taste is acceptable. Or perhaps I have simply grown accustod to it?”

Annabella murmured quietly, “If you eat enough stones, eventually you develop immunity.”

Selina turned her head slowly.

Annabella imdiately corrected herself.

“I an—Teacher’s willpower is extraordinary. Far beyond ordinary people. I admire it greatly.”

It was like when a friend showed you sothing utterly revolting—and yet they ate it with great enthusiasm, even trying to share it with others.

A cri deserving death.

Returning to the matter at hand, Selina listened to Eve’s weak retching and watched her clutch the crumpled tissues, looking pitiful.

Imagining a future of constant hunger was truly despairing.

Just as Selina’s thoughts were spinning in confusion, Annabella—who had been idly wandering about—suddenly stepped forward and shouted:

“I will help you!”

“I have a plan.”

Selina rubbed her temples.

“What plan?”

Annabella lifted her chin proudly, hands on her hips.

“Hmph. At critical monts, you must rely on soone as peerless, beautiful, intelligent, and capable of eighteen rounds in one night as—”

“Stop talking nonsense, okay?!” Selina nearly grabbed a stool to throw at her before covering her face helplessly. “How did I end up with a student like you?”

Annabella coughed lightly.

“Listen first. If the inability to eat is caused by appetite… why not replace it with another kind of desire?”

“Oh?” Selina said. “Go on.”

Annabella smirked proudly.

“My point is simple. If we cannot remove the appetite… then why not suppress it? Block it entirely so she cannot feel it.”

“But she still needs to eat to live.”

“Is this not the best solution we have right now?”

Selina found herself montarily speechless.

After thinking about it again, she realized there might actually be so logic to it.

At the mont, there was no cure for Eve’s feeding aversion.

But before they could solve it permanently, Eve first needed to survive.

Perhaps they could suppress or dull the sensation of hunger for now, and worry about the rest later.

“So,” Annabella said triumphantly, “you should be able to do that, right, Teacher?”

Selina sighed.

“Even if I cannot, I will have to try. I will prepare the equipnt.”

She walked toward the door, then suddenly stopped.

“You two stay here and behave. Do not touch anything in the laboratory.”

The warning was clearly directed at Annabella.

A fully automatic chaos machine. Ninety-nine percent new, lightly used. Anyone interested could take her ho.

Her footsteps gradually faded down the corridor.

Annabella turned to Eve and said confidently,

“Do not cry, do not cry. Even though we do not have a counselor right now, we can still drink milk for comfort! I will quickly fetch so!”

Eve ignored her.

She simply lowered her gaze and raised a hand to her neck.

That was where the bite marks remained.

When her fingers pressed against them, the craving grew even stronger.

So fragrant.

Never enough.

Like an addiction.

Those three thoughts rged into explosive pressure that battered Eve’s mind.

It felt wonderful…

As though she were wandering through a quiet forest. Even her thoughts seed smoother.

Annabella remained unusually quiet for a mont, idly spinning a triangular beaker across the table.

Then she sighed.

“Hey.”

Eve looked up.

“Tell … besides normal blood, do Vampires drink… other specific kinds? I an—like when human won have their monthly cycle?”

Eve: ???

“You do not understand? I an the blood that flows during that ti,” Annabella explained seriously, as though she were genuinely analyzing the possibility.

“It feels terrible, I tell you. So have you ever drunk it—hey wait! Let us talk calmly! Why are you picking up a stool?!”

BANG!!!
