"...What are you doing here, Dr. Yang? You are intruding in my private ti."
"Oh well isn’t it such a lovely evening and while I ca here with Mom and Dad for dinner, look who I found? Such a great coincidence, isn’t it~?"
"Indeed. It was nice to see you see here, Dr. Yang. But I would like to ask you to please leave."
"Don’t be like that, Judge Zhi. Would you not like talking to for soti?" Mingshen then smiled at Zhi Guanyu. "How are you doing?"
He straightened up and suddenly got flustered about becoming the center of attention. "I-I am fine..."
"Aish, why are you getting so worked up? We are all friends here, right Judge Zhi? You were so enthusiastic about talking to the hot waitresses so I figured you would like to talk to too. I don’t have to explain my beauty myself to you, is it now?"
Mrs. Zhi stuttered. "W-what is happening here, Dad?"
He gritted his teeth. "Dr. Yang, what the hell are you doing? I won’t tolerate this disrespect."
He smiled. "We all cannot. Tell sothing new."
The waiter arrived with a glass of red wine for Mingshen which he happily took.
"Is this...is this about the dical Association?" He whispered. "I know why you are here. But I am telling you right now that I cannot help you with it. The dical Association is an independent body and I-"
"Why do Judge Zhi feel like I ca here to discuss the case?" He tilted his head.
"That’s exactly why you ca here."
Mingshen was baffled. "I can let you et Mom and Dad if you want to prove that I was out here for dinner too. But Judge Zhi insists on having so different intentions. Why is that so, I wonder?"
He said nothing.
"Is it because the judge knows that sothing unnatural has happened and my visit could be within his range of expectations?"
He pressed his lips inside.
"The dical Association was going to summon you one day or the other."
"One day or the other. Not a fixed date. But Spicy’s hearing had one," Mingshen chuckled.
"Spicy?"
"Song Jia."
He went silent.
"She is in custody. She has nowhere to run, not like she would have anyway. She would abide by all the protocols very professionally. We don’t have to go over that. So I really question the necessity of moving up her case to tomorrow," he calmly asked with a sip of the wine.
Mingshen’s eyes sparkled. "And look what I found out. You would be the judge presiding over her case too. It ans that you moved up the date. The presiding judge does so. So please satisfy my curiosity, Judge Zhi. Why the extra excitent to finish up with Spicy’s case?"
"Don’t challenge my decisions, Dr. Yang," he coldly said, "As a judge, I know what I am doing and I have hundreds of important cases lined up next month. It is not unusual if I moved up one case’s date."
"Aww, Judge Zhi is so dedicated and fair~"
"Yes, I am."
"Where was that dedication and fairness when you didn’t even let your grandson’s case co up in the court?"
The air froze. The expressions of especially Zhi Guanyu and his mother paled as ghosts.
"As a dedicated and fair keeper of the law, Judge Zhi wouldn’t forget how his dearest grandson harassed his female classmate in the university only because she rejected his advances? You wouldn’t forget that, right? Right?" Mingshen was having the ti of his life.
Mrs. Zhi exclaid. "T-That-"
"No," Judge Zhi warned her not to shout or make any scene in the hotel.
Mingshen greeted her. "Hello, Mrs. Zhi. How are you doing? I can see you are glowing and why not? Your innocent, adorable son is right beside you rather than behind bars~"
Her forehead broke up with sweat.
"Ah, your sadness is so touching," he shook his head. "Husband widowed you years ago and you were only left with your son. Naturally, he beca the center of your world. So much so that his harassnt didn’t bother you one bit and you begged your father-in-law to sort it outside the court. How could you bear to lose your son after your husband?"
She couldn’t breathe.
"The girl’s family refused to hush up so you asked your dear son to threaten her of leaking her naked pictures and videos. Of course they were fake but how would the girl know that?" He smiled. "Too afraid of the embarrassnt, they eventually settled it outside and left Beijing forever. Lo and behold, your son is still safe and sound. Did I miss anything, Judge Zhi?"
If gaze could kill a person then Mingshen would have died by a hundred tis now.
Mingshen sneered. "How convenient is it to switch off the button of dedication and fairness for selected cases, right?"
He then glanced at a sweating Zhi Guanyu and smirked. "See your mother is such a good person, letting her son be safe and sound and instead forcing a distressed, traumatized girl leave the city of her dreams. And what is that safe and sound boy doing right now? Eyeing hot waitresses just like that classmate."
"G-Grandpa..." Mingshen’s pressure was so unbearable much to handle that he thought he would piss in his pants.
"Technically, the mother should also be in jail with her son for forging fake videos and threatening. But Judge Zhi’s sadness is also so touching. He has already lost his son. How could he bear to lose his daughter-in-law and grandson as well?" He chuckled evilly.
"...What do you want?" Judge Zhi asked through a gnashed jaw.
"Ah!" He waved his hand in dismissal. "When did I say I want anything, Judge Zhi? I just dropped by in to et you, that’s all and while at it, I thought that we can all walk down a beautiful mory lane, right? Did you enjoy it, Judge Zhi?"
He looked at everybody’s expressions and clapped his hands in delight. "Yes, it seems like everybody did enjoy the refreshing walk~ Oops, I overtstayed my ti. I will take my leave. Enjoy the rest of the evening~"
He threw a last glance at Zhi Guanyu. "You are not the definition of an ideal man in any girl’s textbooks so give up, okay?"
Mingshen whistled and rrily left.
Mrs. Zhi gasped breathlessly. "D-Dad, what was that? Why did Dr. Yang su-suddenly talked about that girl!? What does he want...?"
Judge Zhi stared at his empty plate, clenching his fists.
"I know exactly what he wants."
