Mingshen leaned against his car the next evening as the passers by watched him in awe. Their eyes were too dazzled with the presence of a handso man who they had only imagined in the fictional stories they have heard.
Jia stepped out a few minutes later and amongst the gasps and hushes, she curiously looked towards the source of it and was imdiately left stunned.
"Mingshen?"
He arched his brow, slowly looking at Jia from her head to toe. Draped in the blood-red dress that clung to her curves, she walked with confident strides. The deep hue of the fabric shimred under the light, exuding an aura akin to a tempting seductress. Her matching ruby jewelry sparkled with each subtle movent. Her heels clicked softly against the floor while a matching purse hung from her shoulder, completing her getup with an effortless touch of sophistication.
Jia was about to ask more when she, too, couldn’t help but notice his attire for the evening.
He stood tall, exuding a quiet authority in his sharp black business suit that hugged his fra with impeccable tailoring. The suit’s dark lines contrasted strikingly with the blood-red shirt beneath where the vibrant color added a dangerous edge to his appearance. The vivid red against the deep black made a statent of power and confidence that matched well with the evil smile curling the corner of his lips like a devil waiting to hunt his prey.
Jia blinked. "We are matching."
Mingshen smirked. "It only makes sense as..."
He inched closer, his bold steps and wide chest blocking Jia’s view.
"We are husband and wife for tonight," he whispered, his deep voice shivering the air with its tingle. "Do you know how danger and allure mixed together looks like?" He then tilted his head.
Jia folded her arms. "You are praising yourself, aren’t you?"
"For a change, I ant you," he smiled with a tinge of mischievousness.
She straightened up slightly and cleared her throat. The dress already felt bold to her but his complint only made her feel extra conscious.
"...Are you sure I am looking alright? Look, I have never worn this kind of a dress before. I can still go and change-"
"I will block all your ways to go back if you do that," he threatened without any qualms.
"You don’t understand. This is a very bold dress."
"As it should be for a bold woman," he smiled.
"I ant to ask..." she looked away, hesitating while Mingshen blinked, puzzled.
"...If I am looking...to be on the heavier side...?" she murmured.
Mingshen was taken aback. "You are asking if you are looking fat?"
Jia gritted her teeth. "You don’t mince your words at all, do you?"
"I won’t be Yang Mingshen otherwise~" he chuckled and then said, "You are looking just the way I imagined you to be. I should say that you took it several notches higher actually. I wonder if the n at the gathering tonight will be able to focus at the gathering at all~"
She coughed. "I see...Anyway, I will ask my original question. What are you doing here?"
"To pick you up of course~ How will it look if we, as a couple, don’t co together?" He innocently blinked.
Jia felt even stronger gazes from all the people walking by who were not shy in showing their perked up ears to hear their conversation.
"You...! It’s only an act," she whispered. "Don’t say as if it is real. People here will believe you."
"I don’t mind~"
"I do," she scowled. "Also, we could have t at so place just before the hotel and ca together from there."
"But how will I get to ride with you in my Porsche and eat your head till you curse the hell out of ?"
"..."
"You are impossible!"
He smirked and opened the passenger seat door for her. "Please honor this devil with your breathtaking and sizzling presence, Spicy."
She choked. The gazes thrown at them grew only more pointed and heavier, making her more and more embarrassed.
Ahhh, let this evening finally get over!
Jia quickly stepped in and took her seat while trying hard to not look at the people staring at her. Mingshen closed the door and threw a sharp gaze all around.
He smiled. "The husbands ogling at Spicy and the wives drooling at should reconsider their marriage vows a teensy tiny bit I guess~"
The crowd, especially the couples, jolted up awake as if lightning struck them.
"You...have so sha! What dirty thoughts were you having about her?" One of the wives glared at her husband.
"H-Hah! As if you are any innocent! What perverted dreams were you imagining with that man?"
It erupted into a full blown fight and chaos ensued. Mingshen shrugged and took the driver’s seat.
Jia furrowed her brows. "What are the couples suddenly fighting about? I cannot hear them clearly."
Mingshen smiled slyly. "Happens when deep hidden lust in the hearts get exposed~"
"..."
Suddenly in the middle of the road they are having lustful thoughts?
Mingshen started the engine and threw a glance at Jia, who was still puzzled at the couples fighting. He looked back at the road, ever so slightly tilting his head.
Was Spicy always the type to be concerned about her weight?

Jia took a look at the hotel and was impressed by its grandeur. She got a ssage from Huojin.
’All set?’
’Yup. Will definitely get into the bottom of this tonight,’ she replied back.
’Good luck. Go kick so asses.’
Jia chuckled.
"Texting another man while your husband is right here?" Mingshen gasped dramatically.
She smiled. "Never thought that you could also get cheated on, right?"
He scoffed. "You have to improve your tastes if you want to cheat on such a perfect existence as mine with an ok ok boyfriend."
She rolled her eyes. She clicked her purse open and took out the invitation cards. "It’s ti."
Mingshen offered his arm with a smile. "Shall we?"
She slightly coughed and wrapped her arm around his. "Let’s go. Ti to end this cult tonight."
