Hou Delan carefully approached her mother-in-law and pressed her lips. "Mom, we cannot let this slide. I cannot believe his audacity. His employee brought Bro Tengqi in this state and-"
Hou Huan raised her palm and she imdiately quietened. Her narrowed gaze fell on ng Rin, who stiffened slightly in response. She clasped her shivering hands in response and tried to smile.
"You seed a little rattled at the ntion of Bai Yingtai."
She blinked. "H-Huh?"
"Do I need to repeat my question?" She asked in a piercing tone.
She jolted and shook her head. "N-No, Mrs. Hou."
"So what’s the answer?"
"I...I wasn’t rattled or a-anything..."
"So you an to say that what I felt was wrong?"
ng Rin felt tongue tied and didn’t know how to respond. She would be screwed if she agreed or disagreed either way.
"I heard from Nanyou last night that you spoke in that man’s favor. He jumped on you and you defended him?"
Her expression paled.
"How do you think my son would feel when he gets to know this? His fiance who defended her assaulter and the one who almost killed her future husband. Do you know how much my son loves you? Even though I am not particularly thrilled about you being a part of my family," her eyes held disdain, "I cannot go against my son’s wishes either."
"I...I just s-said what was..." she exhaled restless breaths. "T-There is a big misunderstanding."
Her voice turned even icier. "My son is lying in the ICU right there? A strange man was sleeping in your bed. Pray tell what is the misunderstanding here?"
The pressure bludgeoned upon ng Rin like a mountain collapsing on her. It was a situation where Bai Yingtai was at fault and also not at fault at the sa ti. To have her fiance’s family understand that was a colossal and next to impossible task.
Hou Guangxi shook his head. "This is sothing very common in your entertainnt industry, right? You actors are involved in scandals left and right. Just a month or two ago, your fellow actress...what was her na? Chow y? Wasn’t she arrested for your director’s murder?"

Hou Anming slightly arched his brow as if he understood her unsaid feelings but remained quiet.
Hou Huan looked at her from head to toe and tilted her head. "Yang Mingshen was saying that his employee doesn’t get violent unless the other person initiates it."
She froze.
She smiled. "So he ant to imply that my son probably got violent towards you and so he reacted in response?"
ng Rin naturally rembered last night’s confrontation and how he was close to slapping her.
"But that’s a misunderstanding, right dear? Tengqi loves you so much. Even though he knows that I am clearly against this relationship, he remains stubborn. A man like him who can go against his mother can only be a keeper for his future wife, right?"
Her heart was pounding in her chest hard.
Hou Delan asked, "Why aren’t you saying anything? You cannot be serious that Bro Tengqi would hit you, right? We all know how much he is a hopeless romantic!"
Hou Huan smiled. "Of course not Delan. It’s all Yang Mingshen’s tactics to shed off the bla."
She held ng Rin’s hand and gently pressed it. "Listen dear. We are a reputable family and I don’t need to explain how these accusations and especially you defending a strange man over your fiance would look to the public, right? So be very careful next ti, okay? I don’t want you disappointing my son again."
ng Rin felt a tinge of pain with the pressure she was exerting. A dizzying sensation enveloped her head.
"Rinrin."
She looked beyond Hou Huan’s figure and her eyes widened seeing Bai Caishen, Chow y and Dong Haoyu.
"You all..."
Hou Huan’s eyes narrowed. "Your friends I see."
Chow y rushed to her side. "Rinrin, are you okay? Why didn’t you tell imdiately!? Otherwise you always talk so much!"
Chow y noticed Hou Huan holding her hand and looked at her. "I am sorry for what happened to Mr. Hou. I hope he is recovering."
"Yes," she gave a curt reply.
Bai Caishen stepped in. "That’s perfect. We understand how hard it must be for everyone but is it okay if we take Rinrin away for so ti? So much has happened and we friends have always stuck together."
Dong Haoyu nodded earnestly.
Before Hou Huan could say anything, Hou Anming gave a perfunctory reply. "Sure."
"Great," he smiled.
ng Rin’s eyes were close to tearing up as she started walking away with Chow y and gang. Only she knew how suffocating she felt to stand in the House family’s presence.
Hou Huan frowned at her son after she left.
"I don’t appreciate that."
Hou Anming shrugged. "They are all actors. Popular actors. Everybody’s eyes are watching us here. Would it have looked good if we had sent them away?"
Hou Guangxi said, "I wouldn’t care. Plus, ng Rin should distance herself from them anyway. Entertainnt industry people can never be a good influence."
Hou Huan smiled. "It’s okay. She will eventually learn. Hope she doesn’t fail my faith."

Chow y glared at particularly nobody. "I don’t like that woman. She looks nasty and I didn’t like the way she held your hand!"
"I am fine yy..." ng Rin tried to be strong.
Dong Haoyu pursed his lips. "Are you...are you really happy in your relationship? I cannot imagine you living with that family after marriage. They weren’t so thrilled with our presence either."
"Who cares?" Chow y grimaced. "As if we will let them cut us off from her life. Right, Rinrin?"
