Quantum Gas.
"This will be your desk, Miss. Tang."
Xun Chunlei, Zexi’s superior, showed her and Beiye their respective work stations specific to working on the project.
"As you know, we will be working on developing and refining our ga Survival Grounds. With the addition of you and Miss. Li, I am sure we will progress even better than before," he smiled. "Let introduce you to our team.
He opened one of the doors to a special work zone area and four people who were already seated, imdiately stood up as they saw him co in. One of them was barely able to stand with his head almost dozing off.
"Great to see that everybody is here. We talked about the addition of two more mbers, right? Here they are."
He waved his hand at them. "She is Tang Zexi - who will be our security specialist and she is Li Beiye. She will be working as our gaplay analyst."
Everybody clapped in response. "Welco, welco."
One of the more spirited team mbers enthusiastically welcod them.
Zexi bowed a whole one-eighty degree. "I am very excited to join this team! I will work very hard!"
Beiye gave a small bow with a small smile. "Sa here."
Xun Chunlei nodded in satisfaction and proceeded. "Miss. Tang, Miss. Li, please et our team -"
He pointed at the first mber and said, "He is the tech expert and system architect of this team, Hao Lian. He is mainly responsible for the ga’s programming. Hao Lian, wake up."
"Huh?" He jolted with the sudden call. "Ah...Hello..." he sleepily said.
Xun Chunlei shook his head and continued. "She is i Ru, our lead designer who designs all the challenges, quests and thes to keep our players engaged."
i Ru bowed. "Nice to et you two."
Zexi brightened.
So cool!
"He is our marketing consultant, Rong Wei. He analyzes user engagent and devises strategies to attract more."
Rong Wei raised a brow at the two newcors. "Happy to have you onboard."
"Thank you!" Zexi chirped.
"Last but not the least, our quality assurance tester - Yan Qiu. He also recently joined our team, replacing our previous team mber, Mrs. Zhang Luqi," he let out a sigh. "As we all know how she went through a terrible accident..."
There was a mont of silence. He cleared his throat and said, "Lastly, I am the project manager, overseeing the project’s developnt and milestones. So if there is any problem, don’t hesitate to reach out to . I don’t bite," he chuckled.
"Miss. Tang, you will be working in conjunction with Yan Qiu to thoroughly test and strengthen our gas’ security structure, using the bugs and inconsistencies he finds."
She eagerly nodded.
He looked at Beiye. "Miss. Li. You can start working with Hao Lian to better understand the current programming and ga chanics. From there, you can make a plan of analyzing our current patterns and players’ behavior."
"Yes, Sir."
"Okay then. That’s all for the team introduction," he smiled. "I will be in my office. You should all get comfortable and get to know each other better. I want my team to run cohesively and smoothly."
Awkward silence fell into the room as Xun Chunlei exited.
i Ru raised her hand. "How about we all head for a coffee break? Hao Lian is very close to slipping into his dreamland anyway."
Rong Wei went back to his seat. "Go ahead. I am very comfortable here."
"Show so team spirit!" She glared.
"Hmm, no thanks," he smiled. "You are enough to express the team spirit of two mbers combined. So I can cut myself out."
"This man..."
Beiye walked up to Hao Lian, who dazedly looked at her.
"Sure, let’s go for so coffee. I would love to know more about everybody here," she said with a smile as her eyes ever so slightly squinted.

Back at the Beijing police bureau, Jia and Huojin glanced at Mingshen inquisitively, who suddenly beca involved in the conversation.
Mingshen asked Zhang Feiyu, "What’s ntioned about neural feedback and stimulus amplification?"
Zhang Feiyu replied. "Nothing. She hasn’t explained anything, only ntioned these words."
Jia asked, "Do you know sothing?"
He looked at her. "It’s a dical term. Neurofeedback is a non-invasive approach to treat brain-based conditions like ADHD, anxiety disorders, etc."
Huojin followed up with an obvious question. "How does it do that?"
"People with anxiety disorders have disrupted brain wave patterns that cause hyper arousal, sleep deficit, brain fog, daydreaming, trouble focusing, etc. Neurofeedback is a treatnt to help patients control their brain waves consciously. It asures the brain waves and trains them to regulate the functions. The goal is not only to change how you think and feel but also to change your brain on a biological level for better functioning."
Jia slowly said, "So I guess the other term, stimulus amplification, must be related to that."
He smiled. "As expected of Spicy. All kinds of audio and visual stimuli are given to a patient during this treatnt to record their brain waves and activity on an EEG."
Mingshen then arched his brow at Zhang Luqi’s laptop. "So I am wondering what neural feedback has anything to do with the ga. When does a ga records brain activity?"
"I-I don’t know..." his expression dropped. "Is it really sothing so serious?"
He tilted his head. "Hard to tell now."
Jia’s gaze fell on Huojin, who seed to stare at the lines of code with deep thought.
"Huojin?"
He didn’t catch her calling him out and continued thinking.
She shook his shoulder with a slight push. "Huojin?"
"Huh?" He snapped out of his daze.
"What happened? You were looking lost."
"No, I...was just thinking."
He looked Mingshen’s way and asked, "Does this cause headaches and disorientation?"
Mingshen stared at him in return. "How do you know? There are potential mild and temporary side effects of this therapy."
Huojin’s eyes slightly widened as if he had an ’aha’ mont.
"Then we definitely need to investigate this further. Because I have seen this happen with...Li Beiye."
