The child opened his bright, big eyes, and Dong Huiying mounted the horse with him in her arms, then the entire team charged towards the location of the small earthquake.

On the way, Dong Huiying encountered a vanguard team out looking for the young master of the manor. Those people instantly recognized Wu Wang and tried to stop Dong Huiying to take him away.

But Dong Huiying was anxious beyond asure and didn’t stop for a mont, galloping at full speed. This group of people mistook her for a human trafficker, almost causing a conflict, and chased after them.

When both teams arrived at the collapsed rocks, Dong Huiying dismounted, and Little Wuwang was already on the ground.

The people from the manor rushed over to embrace Wuwang, then glared fiercely at Dong Huiying and her companions.

Zhi Chen glanced coldly at these people. Without needing further words, soone had already surrounded them. Yet Dong Huiying looked forward and saw dozens of ters away, amidst the jagged rocks, a man in white gazing solemnly at three people lying side by side on the ground. These three were Shujun, Haoming, and Yixuan, whom Yixuan had previously rescued from the mountains.

The three were unconscious, suffered so injuries, and lost so blood, but fortunately, nothing was severe.

Each of the three carried a small fragrant pouch, inside which were various dicines, all crafted by the wife-host.

Yixuan used those dicines to treat the three, appearing calm on the surface, yet his heart was trembling violently.

He had searched for them for a long ti, ever since he learned of the earthquake in Qingfeng Prefecture, anxious about his family’s safety, rushing non-stop, only to find Purple Garden empty upon arrival.

He accommodated the refugees, and while providing disaster relief, he also inquired everywhere about the whereabouts of his wife-host and brothers.

He had imagined what it would be like to reunite, maybe even hoped to find them amidst the refugees. Yet he never thought of the possibility that their reunion, after two or three years apart, would be amidst an earthquake, witnessing with his own eyes the three brothers buried under giant stones.

Fortunately, they were still alive, and luckily they only suffered so injuries; otherwise, if they had... he feared it would have been too late for regrets.

Yixuan couldn’t help but think, he had longed in vain, always hoping the wife-host would spare him more than a few glances. He thought he could be indifferent, even if the wife-host was cold, even if her heart was occupied by Third Brother, making it hard to find space for himself. He thought he could endure even in such a situation, as long as she was beside him, as long as he remained by her side.

But aren’t there too many trivial matters in life? The wife-host was always very busy, with six brothers at ho, her greatest affections were for the Eldest and Third Brothers. As for himself, what did he amount to?

If giving affection yields no return, if this affection causes such agony and suffering, then it would be better to let go, better to let go.

After all, he was superfluous; even if he left, the wife-host wouldn’t care.

Leaving ho was an attempt to rally himself, thinking that if he couldn’t see her, he could forget her.

Thinking that not seeing her would an not missing her.

Yet, Wu Wang, after all, was reluctant, after all, he still harbored so longing in his heart. Even if he was superfluous, even if the wife-host didn’t have him in her heart, even if he was too tired to love anymore and didn’t want to suffer so much, he still wished for a child with her, a child that embodied both of their bloodlines.

In truth, everything was quite simple.

For nothing else, rely because, all along, he was just deceiving himself.

Two or three years, yet never forgetting.

Wu Wang, Wu Wang, but each ti he called out to this child, wasn’t his heart wondering in truth?
