Dragon King's Harem Chapter 340. Agreent

He clicked his tongue in displeasure. “Tch!”

The irritation on his face was evident.

“Just like I thought,” I scoffed, unable to resist a smug chuckle.

“I will investigate this matter as soon as possible and give you the report,” he conceded.

A shitty grin spread across my face. "Now we're talking. When's the deadline?” I pressed.

He paused for a mont before responding. “Three months after I arrive back in my capital,” he declared, his tone firm.

“That's too long,” I countered, a frown creasing my brow.

Viperax's expression hardened, his jaw clenching. “I can't drop everything just for your demands,” he retorted.

I narrowed my eyes, refusing to back down. “This is not just my demand, Viperax. It's a matter of justice,” I shot back, my voice firm.

"I don't have a portal skill like you nor can fly. It doesn't get any faster than that. Unless you expect to catch random people,” Viperax grumbled.

It was the first ti he offered a logical explanation instead of a flimsy excuse.

I couldn't argue with that. His point made sense. "Fair enough. Three months. But I need your assurance that there won't be any new attacks during that ti," I demanded.

“I can't guarantee that,” he shot back, his tone serious. “I can order my guards to be vigilant, but I can't guarantee the investigation will go smoothly. Many of those involved likely have powerful backers within the governnt or nobility. And there's no guarantee the culprits are even from my tribe,” he explained.

His words gave pause. He had a point. Unraveling this mystery wouldn't be easy, especially if powerful figures were involved.

'Oh, he's talking seriously,' I thought to myself, taken aback by the unexpected turn.

What started as a battle of wits between kings now seed like a genuine discussion.

I remained silent.

Unlike the factory incident, where the evidence pointed directly at Viperax, this situation was more complex. The thieves and bandits could easily blend in with the populace. Drawing hasty conclusions could lead to disastrous consequences.

Still, I couldn't simply ignore the problem.

"So what's your solution to this?" I inquired.

Viperax hesitated for a mont, his gaze darting nervously around the room. “You have my permission to deal with the bandits and thieves as you see fit. They've caused enough trouble,” he finally replied.

Viperax's suggestion, albeit reluctantly, signaled a rare mont of humility on his part. It wasn't often that kings were willing to relinquish control over matters concerning their own tribes.

"Great. We have a deal then," I remarked, genuinely pleased by the progress we had made. "I appreciate your straightforwardness. It makes things much easier," I added.

He responded with a disdainful snort.

Before he could make his exit, I halted him with a raised hand. "Hold on a second. We still need to formalize our agreent," I reminded him.

He paused. "Do we really need to go through all that paperwork?" he grumbled.

I chuckled at his reluctance. "Just a formality, Viperax. It won't take long," I assured him, flicking my fingers.

Eir approached. He deftly reached behind the fabric and retrieved the parchnt near the record staff.

In this context, the staff akin to that of a clerk, involved the ticulous docuntation of agreents, discussions, and decisions made during etings or negotiations.

I took a mont to review its contents one more ti. Leaning forward slightly, I scanned through the text. My eyes flicked across the page, absorbing the clauses and conditions laid out in the docunt.

The agreent outlined the terms of cooperation between our kingdoms, covering everything from the investigation of the wyvern disturbances to the punishnt of those involved in the theft of dragon eggs.

Satisfied with the docunt's contents, I nodded to Eir.

Eir reached out to take the parchnt, but before he could complete the motion, one of Viperax's wives intercepted him.

She plucked the parchnt from Eir's hand.

I watched as she approached Viperax. Handing him the parchnt, she whispered a few quiet words. Viperax accepted the docunt with a nod, his gaze flicking briefly to before he turned his attention to its contents.
