Dragon King's Harem Chapter 356. Proud II

I sighed, understanding her fear all too well.

"Miracles are rare, Jyne. They don't happen because we will them to; they happen when they are most needed. You did sothing incredible today, sothing that most people could only dream of. Don't burden yourself with the 'what ifs.' Take pride in what you accomplished."

She looked into my eyes, her gaze serious and searching.

"So, we can't bring all the dead back to life?" she asked, her tone heavy.

I shook my head, a small smile playing on my lips.

"No, not everyone. Only those who’ve just died, and even then, only under certain conditions. Sotis, death is final, and we can't change it. Rember, I ntioned it was in the healing tent?" I reminded her gently.

She had been in shock when I first explained it, so I doubted she had fully grasped my words.

She sighed.

"I see… I just… I don't want to fail you. Or the kingdom."

"You won't," I assured her, my hand still gently stroking her hair.

"We all have doubts, even . But it's our actions that define us, not our fears. That's more than enough."

Jyne pressed her lips together, looking thoughtful.

“I understand,” she said, her voice gaining a touch of enthusiasm.

“At least I know what I can do.” Her eyes brightened, and a proud smile spread across her face.

“I’m sure my father and brothers will be shocked when they hear this,” she said, almost bouncing with excitent. There were happy tears welling up in the corners of her eyes.

I nodded and smiled.

"Yes, I'm sure they would be proud of you," I said, watching her closely. I could see why this was such a big deal for her. Jyne had always been the pampered princess, living in the shadow of her more accomplished brothers. Her family was deeply involved in kingdom affairs, and she was always seen as the youngest, the one who needed protection rather than the one who could provide it.

Her brothers excelled in everything they did—warriors, strategists, diplomats—each one of them carving a path of excellence that left little room for Jyne to shine.

Whenever she tried to step out of their shadow, her efforts were often overshadowed by their capabilities. It wasn't that they ant to diminish her; they just naturally outshone her, leaving her feeling like she could never asure up.

This mont was different. She had done sothing none of them could have dread of. She had brought soone back from the brink of death, an act that defied the very laws of nature.

It was no wonder she was so moved by it. This was her mont, her chance to prove that she was more than just the little sister, more than the pampered princess.

"Growing up, you must have felt like you were always playing catch-up," I said.

"I get it. It's hard living in the shadows of others, especially when those shadows are cast by people you love and admire."

Jyne nodded, her eyes filling with emotion.

"Exactly," she said softly. "I always felt like I was just... there. Not really contributing, just existing.”

She hugged suddenly, taking by surprise.

"Thank you," she whispered, her breath warm against my ear.

"For what?" I asked, even though I had a pretty good idea why.

"Because... I can prove I'm useful," she whispered again, her voice thick with emotion.

I nodded.

She let go of her hug and stepped back, smiling at . I smiled back, noticing how different she looked when she was this vulnerable and earnest. It was a side of Jyne I rarely saw—a side that made her seem more mature, more grounded.

But then, in an instant, her deanor shifted. I saw her tails twisting happily, a mischievous grin spreading across her lips.

She clenched her fists around her.

"This way I can get back at my brothers if they tease ," she said with a glint of enthusiasm in her eyes.

I laughed. "There’s the Jyne I know," I said, shaking my head.

She giggled, the sound light and free.

"Well, they’ve had it coming for a long ti. Always act like they’re the best at everything. I an, they are good, but now I’ve got sothing they don’t."

I watched her, feeling a sense of pride.

"You’ve always had it in you, Jyne. This just brought it to the surface."

Her smile faltered for a mont, her eyes reflecting a mix of pride and uncertainty.

"Do you really think so?"

"Absolutely," I said firmly.

She looked down, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I never thought I’d hear that from you."

I chuckled. "Why not? I’ve seen your potential even if you haven’t."

Her eyes t mine, and for a mont, there was a profound connection—a mutual understanding. "Thanks," she said softly. "That ans a lot coming from you."

I smiled at her.

Slowly, I reached out to her once again, drawing her into a gentle embrace. She hesitated for a brief mont, then leaned into , resting her head on my shoulder.

I stroked her hair, the silky strands slipping through my fingers. She cuddled closer, her body relaxing against mine. There was sothing incredibly comforting about the simplicity of the mont.

Jyne lifted her head from my shoulder, her eyes searching mine with an intensity that took my breath away.

“Your Majesty…” she whispered. Her cheeks were flushed, and her lips parted slightly as if she were about to say sothing, but no words ca.

Her face approached mine. Ti seed to slow. The space between us shrank until I could feel her warm breath against my skin.
