Alistair looked at the spear, precisely the part where Fabian’s heel had touched. That part had beco old and brittle. A single hard press would be enough to snap it

SNAP!

Alistair snapped the spear himself and threw both parts to either side. The next mont, he brought out a much grander spear from his spatial storage.

’I have to make sure he doesn’t co in contact with any part of .’ he thought taking a stance once more.

In the anti, Fabian had retried his halberd from the ground, and also took his own stance.

"Tempest wheel." Fabian raised his halberd and swung it in an horizontal motion. A blazing blue hued arc manifested in the path his weapon traced, and appeared before Alistair almost instantly.

Alistair instantly bent down and slid on his knees, and the arc went past him, slicing a few strands of his hair.

BOOOM!

Massive chunks of the fortified earth cracked and exploded upwards from the impact of Fabian’s attack. It seed that even the fortified earth only made the ground more resistant, not unbreakable.

"Splitting thunder."

While Alistair was still on his knees, Fabian had already appeared above him, and swung the bladed part of his halberd towards the golden boy’s neck with insane force.

"Upthrust!"

Alistair t him neck for neck, and thrusted his spear upwards, intercepting the strike.

BOOOOOOOOOM... CRAKAKAKAKA!

A shockwave that blew apart everything including the earth beneath their feet exploded forth from their center.

Fabian flew back up so fast he beca a streak. He only stopped when he reached a translucent barrier that had at so ti appeared high above the stadium, just beneath the giant crystal projecting the fras.

He spat out a mouthful of blood at the mont of impact, before he began falling.

Alistair anwhile got embedded a few ters into the ground. Normally, he would have also gotten injured if he hadn’t activated his ability at the last mont before the shockwave blew them apart, then deactivated it after.

With a tensed leap, Alistair flew out from the hole his body created, and then from the crater caused by their attacks.

Fabian too, as he reached the ground, pumped aether into using his ability, making the purple sheen of his body gain a slightly glossy glow, most especially concentrated at the soles of his feet.

Brrrrrrr!

Upon landing, the earth beneath his feet disintegrated to dust, thereby softening his impact, and making it seem like his feet had sunken into the ground. He still had to transition into a roll to prevent his bones from shattering from the residual impact.

Alistair was already on him the mont he got on his feet. Alistair thrusted his spear, and Fabian parried the blow. He moved ahead, and Alistair kicked him in stomach.

Cough!

Fabian coughed, it was clear the blow had dealt so significant damage. Fabian’s stomach had almost caved in!

Though Alistair’s boots degraded slightly from the brief contact with Fabian’s skin, he didn’t give Fabian any mont of relief, and rushed ahead, trying to attack him with his spear but Fabian was experienced. He already knew a lot of Alistair’s movents from watching movents.

Fabian stomped the ground, and chunks of earth flew up to impair Alistair’s vision.

"Tch!"

Alistair clicked his tongue, forced to retreat because of the chunks. He could have chosen to disregard the the flimsy attack, but now that he had seen what coming in contact with Fabian could truly do, he didn’t want to risk it.

He had to be especially careful whenever Fabian advanced close to him. The sheer power that his ability held was dangerous. if it could be put into ranged attacks, he didn’t even want to think about what could happen.

As Alistair stepped back, Fabian burst through the chunks of earth he had blown into the air. He hurriedly approached Alistair, and twisted his body to deliver an attack from above.

Alistair raised his spear to block it, their weapons clashed with one another. Fabian anwhile, removed one hand from his spear, and extended it right at Alistair’s face, trying to touch him.

Alistair twisted his body unnaturally, all to avoid contact at all cost, then pushed Fabian’s halberd off his spear, spun around in one seamless motion, and delivered a devastating kick to Fabian’s chest.

Crack!

An audible crack echoed in both Fabian and Alistair’s ears. Fabian’s body rippled, eyes widened, and suspended in the air for a split mont, before shooting back through the air at imnse speeds.

But before he could reach the sa translucent barrier like before, Alistair appeared above him, and with a wide swing, spun his spear and hit Fabian towards the ground with all the grace of a baseball player.

Bang!

Fabian’s body created four concentric rings in the air as he shot down towards the ground.

BOOOOOOM!

A massive cloud of debris cloaked the field as Fabian’s body hit the ground. Alistair soon dropped towards the ground, and disappeared into the cloud of debris.

-"Where is he?"

-"Don’t tell he’s already out."

-"I thought he’d last longer."

-"Alistair is crazy strong, I guess he isn’t the crown jewel of this generation for nothing."

What everyone didn’t know was that, if Alistair was fighting soone like Levi or Calum, they would have lost within the first few exchanges. Because then, Alistair wouldn’t be hesitant to touch them like he was to Fabian. Especially since he wasn’t using his absurd ability to raise his stats by one rank each.

As Alistair glanced around in the clos of dust that had slightly impaired his vision, he eyes grew narrower. ’It seems I would have to get more serious."

"Tempest formation!"

Just then, a massive gale blew apart the cloud of debris, particularly at close to the place where Alistair stood. Before the cloud could be completely blown away, the bladed part of Fabian’s halberd cut apart the dust close to Alistair’s neck like smoke.

Alistair turned his head to the halberd in a seemingly unhurried fashion. Just as it seed he wouldn’t be able to react to it, a golden light flashed from his body.

Alistair still shrouded in golden light, only took a single step back, and dodged the swing. The failed swing revealed Fabian’s battered body, the blood flowing from his lips, and his slightly caved chest.

The mont the light from Alistair’s body completely faded, in one seamless motion, Alistair caught the the shaft of Fabian’s halberd.

Bang!

A precise kick to Fabian’s caved chest made Fabian seeming disappear from his spot and appear crashing into the walls of the stands. And all in the sa mont, Alistair raised the halberd he had wrestled from Fabian’s hand, and thrust it through the air, straight into the shoulder of it’s owner, pinning his unconscious self to the cracked walls of the stands.

"...."

One second, two seconds, three seconds.

"Alistair Von Drake wins!"

"Heeeeeeeeeeeeewyyw!"

"The golden boy of this generation once again proves why he deserves his reputation!" Instructor Lee yelled at the top of his lungs. "My own students might be out already, but I’m kinda glad, if not, there’s no way we’d get to witness this master piece of a fight."

The entire first year’s area erupted in a cheers at the Instructor’s joke. So students however, weren’t as thrilled, particularly the most competitive ones.

Rose anwhile, glanced at Alistair, eyes narrowed. Up until now, she felt more than confident of defeating everyone, but not anymore. ’Could I beat him?’ she thought to herself. ’Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.’ For now, Damon was her priority. Their match was up next after all. She didn’t consider Anastasia and Elsa’s fight a match. If the white haired girl was wise, she’d better forfeit without entering the field.

Levi clenched his hands so hard that they bled. ’He’s this much stronger than ?’ His ego bled. It was one thing to have been bested by the fallen prince after a grueling match, but it was another thing to realize that the mont Alistair got serious Levi himself wouldn’t stand a chance. He would have to get stronger, way stronger.

Anastasia who sat at the edge of the first years seating area stared at Alistair’s figure seemingly unbothered. She took a mont watching him, before she smiled. ’’No matter, I’d still win." she muttered.

On the other hand, with Damon.

’Its just like in the novel, the mont Alistair activated his ability, Fabian lost almost instantly.’ Damon contemplated. ’It happened a little too easily than I rember though. Is it because instructor Sumrs had began ntoring him from earlier?’ he mused.

’Whatever.’ He turned his head away from Alistair who stood victoriously in the field. ’If this is all he has, I’ll still win." If that was the extent of Alistair’s strength, Damon was still confident that he could defeat the golden boy.

It was just a matter of eting the right conditions.

Waving Alistair back to the stands, the instructor called out the next fight.

"Anastasia Necron Vs Elsa Whitemore."
