"Not bad. I haven’t paid much attention to Li Hao’s skills recently, but they seem quite good now."

Liu Banxia nodded affirmatively after Li Hao finished suturing.

"Teacher Liu, are you planning on torturing again?" Li Hao asked nervously.

"Now you’re scared? Too late. What’s there to be afraid of for soone who dares to disregard life and death?" Liu Banxia said nonchalantly.

"Alright, kiddos, let’s change locations. Liu Yiqing, are there any surgeries going on at Old Chen’s? Since we’re here, we might as well take them to take a look."

"Teacher Liu, Director Chen isn’t performing any surgeries, but Chief Director Li is doing a mitral valve replacent in our ergency center. What do you say? Do you dare to take the challenge?" Liu Yiqing asked with a smile.

"Oh, are you challenging ? Let’s go. Which operating room is it? But this ti, I should go scout it out first," Liu Banxia said.

For the students who ca over today, the surprises just kept coming.

Zhou Shuwen was a well-known surgeon at the Second Hospital, and so was Li Mingwu. In fact, Li Mingwu had been renowned even before Zhou Shuwen. Even though they both held the position of deputy chief director, their influence was different.

Liu Banxia was a little apprehensive about this. Yes, he knew Li Mingwu, but they weren’t really that close.

Not to ntion, this ti they would be observing a surgery already in progress, and he was bringing quite a lot of people over.

Just like before, Liu Banxia ticulously washed and sanitized his hands before entering the operating room.

There were a lot of people inside, all interns brought by Li Mingwu. Unlike Liu Banxia’s group, led by Xu Yino, their standards were much higher.

Li Mingwu wasn’t performing the operation himself; it was being done by one of his students.

"Chief Director Li, you seem busy." Seeing Li Mingwu glance over, Liu Banxia hurriedly greeted him.

"You’re soone who doesn’t show up unless sothing’s going on. Need a consultation from ? Having Xuehai is enough," Li Mingwu said.

"There are no patients needing your consultation at the mont. I heard you were performing surgery here and ca over to take a look," Liu Banxia said.

"Chief Director Chen told I need to be wary when dealing with you, or I’ll be taken advantage of. Just spill, what’s the matter?" Li Mingwu asked.

"Well, Chief Director Li, we have so dical students visiting, and I thought they should experience your magnificence. Do you think that would be alright?" Liu Banxia asked.

"Ah, you. You use our operating room, and now you want to work for you too? Let them in, but I’m not the one operating today," Li Mingwu nodded.

"That works too, that works too! Seeing you in person, these kids surely didn’t visit our temple in vain," Liu Banxia said gleefully.

Li Mingwu couldn’t help but shake his head. This guy’s way of speaking is rather unconventional, he thought. However, I know he’s working hard for the training program, as well as for the hospital, so I’ll let him get away with it this ti.

In fact, when Liu Banxia first ca in, I thought he knew about my surgery and was coming to ingratiate himself, possibly asking for a favor for his deputy directorship. Now that it’s clear he’s here for the hospital’s training program, this is rather pleasing, Li Mingwu mused.

"Pay attention, everyone. This is Chief Director Li, who is renowned in the dical field. You’re lucky to et him; I’ve waited for an opportunity like this for a very long ti," Liu Banxia said after leading the students in.

"See? If you co to our hospital for an internship in the future and you’re determined to stay in the operating room, you never know which legendary figure you might run into."

"Nonsense. It’s just that I’ve done many surgeries. So, are you planning to invest more effort in cardiothoracic surgery? Xuehai has a high estimation of you," Li Mingwu said.

"Chief Director Li, I really can’t. I assisted in a bypass surgery last ti, and it felt the sa as when I perford my first surgery as the lead," Liu Banxia said.

"Then I realized I lacked too much in this field. First, my understanding of anatomy isn’t thorough enough. Second, I don’t perform this type of surgery often. If an ergency occurs, I’d have difficulty handling it perfectly."

"During surgery, we encounter all sorts of unexpected situations. Linlin is much better than in this regard. Although she’s just an intern, her skills and ability to respond are already quite impressive."

"Linlin, did you hear that? You should intern with for the next period," Li Mingwu said.

Liu Banxia was a bit taken aback. Is Liang Xiaolin also in this group? he wondered.

Then, he saw soone in the crowd to his left staring at him. Standing beside that person was Chen Xuehai.

"What are you guys up to? Why aren’t you thinking about drawing people to our Ergency Center, but instead letting Chief Director Li draw them away?" Liu Banxia said.

Chen Xuehai rolled his eyes. "Letting Linlin familiarize herself with different surgical styles has great benefits for her. Why can your general surgery team rotate and learn, but our cardiothoracic departnt can’t?"

"Chief Director Li, you need to promise us that this isn’t a case of Liu Bei borrowing Jingzhou, never to return it. Linlin is a key part of our training focus; we can’t let you abduct her," Liu Banxia said, turning to Li Mingwu.

"Why are you so petty? I’m regretting it now. Initially, I placed Linlin here just to train her. In reality, she was supposed to be part of our inpatient departnt’s team, right?" Li Mingwu said.

"That’s true, but our Ergency Center and the inpatient departnts are both part of the Second Hospital. We’re like one big family. Linlin is used to working with us, she can assist Old Chen well, and she could even help train interns in the future," Liu Banxia said.

"Chief Director Chen is absolutely right; you’re just hogging all the advantages. If I were to have Liang Xiaolin transferred, you’d differentiate between the Ergency Center and the inpatient departnt. But if she stays in your Ergency Center, suddenly we’re all family," Li Mingwu said with a bitter laugh.

"Don’t worry. We’ll just let her participate in so surgeries to get more comprehensive exposure. We won’t abduct her; she’s still part of your Ergency Center. How about tonight? Are you arranging sothing?"

Li Mingwu’s words startled everyone else in the operating room; they revealed his attitude towards Liu Banxia.

"Old Chen, it’s your turn to make a statent," Liu Banxia said in a serious tone.

"Fine, if I don’t let you have your way today, who knows how you’ll be scheming about it later," Chen Xuehai said.

"After this operation, I’ll arrange tonight’s dinner. It’ll also promote exchange between the Ergency Center and the cardiothoracic departnt of the inpatient services, and we can learn together."

"You’re getting a great deal! This is Liu Liang, a candidate for the cardiothoracic team. Moreover, since you’re treating tonight, you can even squeeze a bit more out of it. Li Liwei from the anesthesiology departnt can add a couple of extra dishes for us," Liu Banxia continued.

Hearing his words, the visiting students were a bit confused. What does he an? Why does Teacher Liu give off the vibe that he’s tricking soone?

Didn’t Teacher Liu initially say he would treat? He managed to get a couple of dishes from Teacher Li in the anesthesiology departnt, and now he’s getting an entire al from Teacher Chen in the cardiothoracic departnt?

The students genuinely couldn’t understand Liu Banxia’s slick moves. Liu Yiqing and Liang Xiaolin, however, were already used to it. Anyway, as long as soone’s paying the bill, we just need to follow along, they figured.

Liang Xiaolin currently felt a little upset. It feels like I’m still being treated like a child, she thought.

"What’s your general idea for the training program?" Li Mingwu asked.

The people nearby also pricked up their ears, listening carefully.

"Actually, I don’t have any particularly novel ideas; the overall structure won’t change. But if there are students who perform well, I believe we can be stricter with them," Liu Banxia said seriously.

"Of course, the focus is also on practical skills, allowing them higher participation. Take Linlin and Liu Yiqing’s group, for example. Although they might feel very tired during their internships, their gains are considerable."

"Because they don’t know their own potential, their supervising doctors need to be more attentive. Currently, I only plan to test this within the Ergency Center."

"So, our training is different from that in the inpatient departnts; we use a rotational training system. Whenever there are suitable surgeries for them or techniques they need to master, we’ll call them over to observe and learn."

"They benefit from it, but it’s more demanding for the supervising doctors. After all, they need to assess them frequently, accurately understand their actual capabilities, and prevent anyone from just coasting along."

"Take these students today, for example. We currently have no understanding of their skill levels. My idea is to get a general assessnt of them within two to three months and then proceed with intensive training and teaching."

"I dare say this even in front of them: anyone who cos to our Second Hospital to learn, as long as they dare to learn, I dare to teach. Residency or internship isn’t just about fulfilling a teaching quota; it’s about cultivating genuine dical talent."

"This is also Director Zhou’s idea. However, I’ve personally lowered the bar a bit. Director Zhou’s original vision was for every intern who leaves our hospital to be highly accomplished, without exception."

Li Mingwu frowned in thought, then nodded. "Your concept is quite good, but it will indeed increase the workload for the supervising doctors. Do you have any thoughts on that? We can’t let training duties interfere with normal work."

"I haven’t fully considered that aspect yet, but my general idea involves focusing on specialties. Whether it’s cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopedics, or neurosurgery, each attending surgeon has their own specialized surgical techniques," Liu Banxia said.

"That’s why I thought of rotations. Whenever there’s a suitable surgery being perford by a particular attending, I’ll send the interns over to learn from them."

"Actually, it aligns with your philosophy too. Linlin learned from Old Chen, and now she’s learning from you. For her, this broadens her horizons and allows her to observe more techniques during surgery, including those she might have previously overlooked."

Li Mingwu chuckled and nodded. "Good. Prepare a detailed proposal. The cardiothoracic departnt of the inpatient services can use it as a reference for this year’s training program."

"Thank you, Chief Director Li! Um, we’ll definitely order a few extra dishes tonight," Liu Banxia said joyfully.

I’m genuinely pleased. Receiving Li Mingwu’s endorsent isn’t an easy task at all, he thought happily.
