Chapter 1506: The detonation rune has been triggered Chapter 1506: The detonation rune has been triggered The Death Fields were as calm and quiet as ever.

A somber aura hung perpetually over the barren land, creating a sense of eerie stillness.

Indeed, on most days, one could traverse the Death Fields without hearing so much as a whisper of wind.

But today was different.

Sothing-so latent force hidden between the layers of reality-had been disturbed.

Space itself began to tremble, quaking like a taut string pulled too far.

Those tremors rapidly escalated, growing into powerful convulsions that cracked and tore at the fabric of the world.

Then, in a single horrific mont, it happened.

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!” An explosion erupted with such ferocity that even calling it apocalyptic would not do it justice.

The ground instantly shattered beneath the trendous force, and a tidal wave of fire surged outward in every direction.

Clouds of dust and fragnts of stone filled the air while a thunderous roar rolled across the Death Fields.

It was destruction on a scale rarely seen, a near-mythic display of raw power.

In the midst of that cataclysm, few would have noticed a solitary figure rocketing skyward.

Yet there he was: a young man, muscles taut and face contorted with effort, pushing his body and soul to the limit to evade the ever-expanding sphere of annihilation below.

That man was Cain, and clenched in his grip was the colossal corpse of the Sky Sovereign.

Heat sizzled the air around him, stinging Cain’s legs and forcing him to clench his teeth in pain.

Had it not been for the Tier 8 Fire Star Power coursing through his Sacred Organs, he would have been scorched from hip to heel.

Yet Cain refused to let the agony break his focus.

His left hand grabbed the shoulder of the Sky Sovereign’s corpse-an unimaginably heavy weight-while his right hand pressed firmly against the corpse’s chest, right above where the heart should be.

Even though his entire being was bent on escaping the fatal blast, he was also channeling the power of The Flow to contain the waves of radiation emanating from the corpse.

It was a precarious balancing act: flee from one cataclysm while preventing another.

Cain’s plan to handle the Sky Sovereign’s deadly radiation was deceptively simple-though it required skills few could even hope to possess.

By controlling The Flow, he circulated the massive bursts of volatile energy from the Tier 9 Astral Supremacy Star housed within the corpse’s heart.

He guided it throughout the body, using the ancient flesh and bones as a natural containnt vessel.

It was working, but only so long as he maintained direct contact.

If he let go, the radiation would spill out in an uncontrollable surge, scorching everything in its path for miles.

As ruthless as Cain could be, wantonly killing millions of innocents, including children, held no appeal for him.

Not only would such an atrocity weigh on his conscience, but it would also paint a massive target on his back for other powerhouses.

Anyone with enough influence to retaliate would not hesitate to unite against soone so indiscriminately destructive.

The explosion’s fiery bloom continued to expand for a little over a minute, though to Cain, it felt like an eternity.

Every second tested his stamina and concentration.

Flas roared beneath him, chasing him as he ascended higher and higher.

At last, the conflagration began to settle, leaving a massive sphere of smoldering ruin below-a testant to the unimaginable forces unleashed.

Cain paused a few hundred ters above the ground, breathing heavily as he surveyed the sweltering inferno that was still burning with unnatural intensity.

The flickering flas lit the usually gloomy Death Fields in a dreadful glow, revealing the blackened craters that extended for miles.

“You should make haste, brat.

This explosion is bound to draw the attention of Third Realm life forms.

If they find you, the best-case scenario is that they take everything you have.

The worst case?

They’ll search your soul.” Apex’s words were blunt and left no room for argunt, pulling Cain’s gaze away from the spectacle of destruction.

Caution returned to Cain’s eyes, and he nodded to himself.

If Third Realm powerhouses showed up, even his newfound strength would not save him.

Without hesitation, Cain directed his gaze toward the horizon, choosing a path that veered away from the Gu Sect and the Eclipse School.

For obvious reasons, returning to the Gu Sect was out of the question-Night Prince and Lady Azure would likely be enraged, and while Cain had grown more powerful, he was not yet confident he could kill them.

Even if he could hold his own in direct combat against either individually, they commanded entire armies.

Their combined might would force him into a hopeless fight.

As for the Eclipse School, Cain had made plans involving them-and he still had a hostage sowhere within their ranks.

But he wasn’t foolish enough to believe he could stand against a Lord-Tier organization all by himself.

Finding a secluded place to recuperate and strategize was his best option.

Despite holding the massive Sky Sovereign’s corpse and containing its radiation, Cain sped across the sky with astonishing swiftness.

His body allowed him to move at breakneck speeds, and his mastery over the Laws of Space-Ti only enhanced his velocity.

Within three hours, the Death Fields lay far behind him, fading into the distance like a bad dream.

He soon found himself flying over a sprawling desert, the sands shifting and swirling beneath a relentless sun.

Though the Death Fields were behind him, the environnt here was scarcely more inviting-rciless winds sculpted the dunes into ever-changing shapes and whirling sandstorms that could kill Divine Transformation masters.

Cain prepared to navigate one such sandstorm when, abruptly, his eyes sharpened.

A warning blared inside his mind, courtesy of the system.

[Warning!

The detonation rune in the Nightmare Heart has been triggered!] Many cultivators would have been shocked senseless by a revelation that one of their precious organs was about to explode.

Yet Cain rely let a cold smile curl his lips.

He had already taken precautions to neutralize that rune before fully assimilating the Nightmare Heart. “So, the Night Prince realized Diamon and the others have failed,” Cain muttered under his breath, his tone chilling.

“He must have decided to detonate the Nightmare Heart to kill -but he was too late.” The brutal, rciless edge in his eyes hardened further.

This was not the first ti the Night Prince had tried to eradicate him.

“I’ll make sure to repay the favor.” Cain moved on, his eyes sharp.

He knew precisely why the Night Prince had not triggered the detonation rune from the beginning.

By devouring Diamon’s Alter-Ego, Cain learned everything about the man.

The Night Prince’s goal was not just to kill Cain but also to retrieve the Nightmare Heart intact.

Detonating it outright would have rendered the artifact useless, so it was only after Diamon’s group failed that the Night Prince resorted to such a desperate asure.
