"Dad?" Ashton whispered.

Brandon walked inside the hall, his expression stoic.

"You were really important to , Ashton. I always loved you, took care of your mother, and abandoned my first family because of you guys, and what did you give in return? Did you think I wouldn’t know you were planning on killing Daniel and to take over the Macros’ group, all for this girl?!" Brandon raised his voice.

Ashton shook his head.

"It’s not true, Dad. Who has been feeding you these lies? I can assure you—" Ashton started to explain, but Brandon slapped the man, making him fall to the side.

Ashton stayed in his position for so ti, tasting the tallic liquid in his mouth. He closed his eyes for a brief second to control his emotions, to suppress the humiliation he felt and looked up at his dad.

"I heard them myself. I saw you working in the basent myself. At first, I thought you were just painting, but it looked like, apart from painting, you were hiding your true foxy intentions behind those canvases. You already got my signature and got Hue Island under your na, didn’t you?" Brandon asked.

Brandon looked at his younger son, disappointed.

When Daniel provided him with the evidence and truth, he couldn’t believe that the son he loved so much was stabbing him in the back like this.

But after he saw him talking to this girl’s canvas about how he was planning to give her the entire Macros group if that would make her stay, and how he wanted to go to Hue Island, he knew Daniel wasn’t lying.

He checked the facts with the registration office, and seeing the island owner’s na change, sothing that his great-grandfather had left for him, Brandon couldn’t control his emotions anymore.

That was when he decided Ashton would just dissolve their reputation and years of hard work to nothing for his obsession, and he needed to be put down.

He didn’t bla Elara, because if the girl was wrong, Daniel wouldn’t be in love with her.

It broke his heart when he told Daniel about Ashton’s plan that he got to know after cornering his most loyal subordinate.

He knew that night would be Ashton’s last night, but sotis sacrifices were needed for the greater good.

"And you believed everything, right? How could you betray , Dad? In this world, when no one was on my side, I thought you were. You told him everything?" Ashton looked at his father in disbelief before he smiled and shook his head, stepping back.

He knew there was no point in explaining anything. If he had made up his mind, there was nothing he could say to change it, and he guessed it was ti to accept the truth.

"What now? I am sure you have already decided what to do with . That was the plan from the very beginning," Ashton said before he looked at Elara.

"I know that you are scared of , but I put it all behind because I loved you. Did you see what your love made do? Now my family is standing against , wondering if they should give a quick or slow, torturous death. And I am not scared of it," Ashton chuckled before he wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes.

"I am not scared of losing my life, but you. You still can’t see it. I indeed have so bipolar disorder issues, but I loved you for real, Elara. However, you are so busy playing victim that you never saw it, never felt it," Ashton said.

He then turned around and smiled.

"So what’s the plan? Are you going to send to so kind of prison? But what if I break free? That would be risky. If you shot dead, people would fear you even more and say you killed your brother or son. But you know what? I don’t want you to benefit from my death. Never," Ashton said before he looked at Elara’s parents.

He bowed to them before he started chuckling manically.

"Why am I bowing to you out of respect? You would never accept as your son-in-law. So, you two, go to hell," Ashton said.

He looked around.

The place was full of people who were once on his side, even Daniel, too.

Though he never allowed him to call him brother, he never treated him with hatred.

"I know you blad for coming into your life and ruining your happy family, but it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t wish to be born this way, like a curse of soone’s lust," Ashton said before he laughed at Daniel.

"You bla for the death of your mother because she could accept his mistress but not his other son, who might take the empire, leaving you with nothing, but think about . You at least had your mother’s love. ? My mother was busy whoring around with my father, so busy that his attention would go to another bitch that she forgot she had a son too," Ashton spat.

Daniel looked at his father to see if this was true, and when the man couldn’t hold his gaze, he knew Ashton was telling the truth, indeed.

The fact that Ashton lived a happy life with his father and mother was an illusion. Maybe they were both fucked up in their own ways, just unaware of each other’s stories.

"Elara was the only hope keeping alive. I found her while I was looking for the mother who ran away with our father’s left-hand man. Guess how that made people look at ? I just loved her, but my life was probably too twisted. My possessiveness was a curse, but that was all I knew after seeing my mother," Ashton said before he wiped his cheeks and took a deep breath.

"You call yourself unlucky, Daniel, but imagine how unlucky I am. Two ladies in my life, both obsessed with another man. My mother was obsessed with my father, my love was obsessed with my brother," Ashton smiled.

"Well, I am sure no one is interested in my story. I won’t bore you anymore. If Elara couldn’t be mine, I wouldn’t see her being soone else’s either. Adios, my love. Maybe in the next life, when my life wouldn’t be so twisted, you’ll accept ," Ashton said.

Daniel moved before Elara to protect her if Ashton tried anything, but to their surprise, the man pulled his gun and shot himself instead.

"Aaa!" A scream left Candice’s mouth as she saw the horror from a distance.

"Ashton!" Brandon shouted and rushed to his son, but it was too late. He cradled his dead son’s body in his arms, blood seeping through his clothes.

Elara watched the body of her torntor fall to the side, his eyes still looking at her, as if boring into her soul, and she trembled.

Maybe she was inhumane, maybe she didn’t have any ounce of pity left inside her, or she didn’t know what to feel.

Elara couldn’t move from her place, couldn’t even move her gaze away from the man who was now lying on the ground, once proudly telling her he would have her no matter what.

"You don’t have to look at it. He decided to take his life. Even if he hadn’t done it, he was going to die tonight anyway." Daniel hid Elara’s vision by standing before her.

Elara placed her head on his chest, breathing heavily, her heart heavy with emotions.

After all, she had known about this plan all along. It was a trap they had crafted well. They fought before Ashton to let him believe he was winning, to have enough ti to catch his n off guard.

The bad man was dead, the man who forced her to death was dead, but for so unknown reason, her heart wasn’t relaxing.

The fear of the unknown was still there, and she didn’t know how to extinguish it.

"Relax, my love. He is gone, for good," Daniel said.

He nodded at his people to clean the ss and have a little break before they could think of how to handle the dia.

"Co, let take you to your room." Daniel held her hand and was about to pull her away when Elara’s phone rang.

"Hello?"

"This is Mr. Jeffery talking, ma’am. We wanted to warn you to stay alert. We were taking Beatrice to the court proceedings when she ran away. The officers are watching your live stream right now, and we are afraid she is headed toward the venue. We have already dispatched a team, and it should be there shortly, but please don’t go anywhere alone," the man said.

Elara smiled before she started chuckling, laughing maniacally.

"I can’t have a mont of peace, can I?" Elara whispered before she turned towards the entrance when she heard the sound of soone rushing inside.
