"Is the function not continuing?" Carla’s words and her appearance made Elara relax instantly.
After the phone call, she really thought Beatrice had arrived to cause her more problems.
"The guards outside said sothing happened. But if you allow , I can—" Carla stopped speaking when her gaze finally fell to the things happening in Elara’s background.
Bodies were being dragged away from the scene, while cleaners rushed to mop the floor as quickly as possible, the red pignt on the ground a clear indication of what it was.
Her breath got caught up in her throat.
"Sothing indeed happened. We won’t continue the celebration. However, I understand your need for this gig. I’ll pay you half the amount now if you agree to sing at another event that we’ll hold within a month," Elara said.
Carla looked at the scene, then at Elara and pursed her lips.
She couldn’t believe how calmly Elara was taking this bloodshed.
It was true that Macros’ family ran the underworld, and sothing like this wasn’t out of the question for them; even Lloyds had underworld connections, but not Frost’s.
This family wasn’t related to the underworld.
Then again, was there really anything that Elara couldn’t handle?
"I accept," Carla said before she stood there awkwardly.
She looked at the exit and then at Elara.
"So I leave now?" She asked, unsure whether she needed to report to anyone or sign any contract to receive the paynt.
Elara was about to explain to her that soone would reach out to her, but before she could say anything, she saw Andrew walk into the celebration hall, and her gaze darkened.
"You brought him?" She asked.
Carla turned to see who she was talking about, and when she realized it was her brother, she shook her head.
"I didn’t. Brother, what are you doing here? I specifically told you not follow ," Carla felt scared that the opportunity would be taken away from her and quickly rushed forward to push her brother out of the venue, but the man didn’t budge from his place and kept looking at Elara.
"I am here to apologize, Elara," he said.
"I am not interested," Elara said coldly.
Her mind was already a ss because of Ashton and what he did. She didn’t want more ss on her plate.
A small, sad smile appeared on Andrew’s face.
It was funny how tis changed.
There was a ti when she couldn’t wait to speak to him. And today, she couldn’t wait to throw him out and away from her sight.
And it was all on him. He did it. He was the reason for her hatred, and he knew he deserved it.
"I know you hate , Elara. It’s valid. You want out of here, and I won’t be surprised if you want dead, either. I deserve it. It’s just... I wanted to apologize to you once, for all the sins I committed against you, against us, against our kid," Andrew said, his words catching everyone off guard.
Elara, who was about to leave, froze in her place.
Gabriella and Logan looked at their daughter, unsure what that scum was talking about. What kid?
And Daniel? He stood beside her silently, expressionlessly. He had known about it all along. It was a wound in her heart that he was waiting to heal, but he would be lying if he said it didn’t hurt.
It hurt him, not the fact that she got pregnant from another man, after all, she wasn’t aware of him at that ti, but the fact that she couldn’t consider him supportive enough to tell him this news herself, or maybe because she never wanted to ntion it to anyone.
"What nonsense are you speaking?" Logan roared from a distance, but Andrew kept looking at Elara.
"I know now. The reason you snapped that night is the reason you couldn’t bear with anymore, and I am terribly sorry for what happened. I had no idea you were pregnant with my child. Please forgive ," Andrew said.
Elara stumbled backward as the mories of that night flashed in her head. She quickly grabbed Daniel’s hand to stabilize herself before looking at him.
"I..." She opened her mouth to tell Daniel, but the man blocked her view of Andrew. He placed his forehead on hers.
"Ssshh... breathe. Calm yourself first. Take deep breaths. I am here with you," Daniel said, and Elara closed her eyes, a whimper leaving her mouth.
How did she get so lucky to have found a man like him? If it had been any other man, he would’ve been throwing a tantrum about why she didn’t tell him earlier; heck, she would’ve done it, but he was only asking her to calm down? How could a man be so good?
Tears rolled down her cheeks, and Daniel kissed those tears imdiately.
"Don’t cry, my love. Your tears are my weakness, and god forbid, my thirst for blood hasn’t been quenched. So please stop crying, my dear, because none of us would want to kill Andrew just for apologising, but I’ll do it if he is making you cry right before ," Daniel said.
Elara stepped forward, and the man imdiately wrapped his hands around her, letting her place her head on his chest.
Andrew watched everything unfold before him, and his heart ached painfully in his chest.
There was a ti when she had wanted that comfort from him, too, after she had lost the puppy she had been feeding.
She had wanted to hug him. And at that ti, he had to go to a eting. Thus, he had asked her to get a hold of herself.
He built that distrust brick by brick himself. He was never there for her.
All this ti, he had been thinking he was a good husband, just not loving, but now, looking at how a man who was supposed to be cold and uncaring was calming her, he couldn’t help but realize how he was never there for her.
Was he ever in love with her? Because if he had been, he wouldn’t have treated her like that.
Maybe his friend Trevor was right. He wasn’t in love with Elara; he was in love with the idea of coming ho to freshly cooked als, a clean house, a happy girl waiting for him, getting his clothes ready for the trip, and being there for his convenience whenever he wanted.
And that was exactly why it slapped him so hard: his life and routine were disrupted when she left.
But now? He knew he loved her for real. He didn’t care if she would ever cook and clean for him. Heck, he was ready to do them all for her. He knew his company was in trouble, and if she said yes and ca to him, he was ready to build it and bring it back to the top... but...
He knew she wouldn’t. There was no reason for her to.
"Well, I didn’t expect to see this kind of scene." A cold voice reverberated through the halls, and everyone’s attention snapped to behind Elara as the girl grabbed her hand and placed the tip of the gun on her temples, her hands still cuffed.
Andrew froze while Carla looked at her in surprise.
