"I didn’t co today to drink your tea; I ca to take ngyao back." Liu Hun looked calmly at the middle-aged man before him and said slowly.
If Ling ngyao’s father were still as stern as he was originally, it would be sowhat easier for Liu Hun to handle, but unfortunately, this guy has changed so much that dealing with it is much tougher now. There’s a saying: you don’t hit a smiling face, so at this mont, Liu Hun finds it hard to handle this matter.
If Ling ngyao ultimately insists on not leaving with him, Liu Hun really has no way to deal with it, though it’s not sothing Liu Hun wants to see. Liu Hun also knows that if Ling ngyao stays, she’ll eventually be used by those guys.
"Sit down first. No matter what happened before, now I am a disabled person. Could it be that you can’t even drink a cup of tea from a disabled person?" Ling ngyao’s father looked at Liu Hun with a bitter smile and said.
Hearing this, Liu Hun’s eyebrows furrowed deeper. After glancing at Ling ngyao’s father, he eventually sat down at a stone table in front of the other.
Seeing Liu Hun sit down, Old Ghost and Wang Xiaofei stood behind Liu Hun, one on each side. Ling ngyao’s father smiled slightly and gestured to the chess set on the table, saying to Liu Hun, "How about a ga? Since becoming disabled, I’ve been stuck here like a waiting-to-die useless person, so sotis when idle, I like to play chess."
Ling ngyao’s father’s words didn’t get a response from Liu Hun, whose eyes remained calmly fixed on the other.
Ling ngyao’s father took a deep breath and said faintly to Liu Hun, "After Wu Ma cos out, I will have her call ngyao to co ho."
As Ling ngyao’s father spoke, he moved a pawn forward. Observing Ling ngyao’s father, Liu Hun squinted slightly and then fired a direct cannon move.
"You seem rather fiery lately, and quite keen on slaughter. Although it’s sotis greatly useful, if one only knows relentless slaughter, one might not necessarily win in the end," remarked Ling ngyao’s father, watching Liu Hun’s move.
"Who can say what the future holds? The ga can only show win or loss after being played. Whether by slaughter or a fortress-like defense, does it matter? Everyone just wants to win this victory in the end." This ti, Liu Hun shed his silence and answered indifferently as he looked at Ling ngyao’s father.
"You’re right, everyone has their own way. The process is not important, only the outco; but at the mont you made that move, your defeat might have already been sealed," Ling ngyao’s father said with a smile, his elderly face full of amusent.
To this, Liu Hun didn’t respond further. As he said, results are unknown until the end, so everything said prior is ultimately futile. Liu Hun prefers to speak with facts in whatever he does.
As they advanced one move at a ti, initially, Ling ngyao’s father could keep pace with Liu Hun’s chess speed. But gradually, because Liu Hun would imdiately make his next move after each of his moves, Ling ngyao’s father began feeling overwheld with pressure.
Being an elder and having invited Liu Hun for the ga first, it would be embarrassing if he couldn’t keep up. Despite feeling pressed, Ling ngyao’s father kept pace with Liu Hun’s brisk ga speed.
"Checkmate!" Liu Hun placed the last piece after another five minutes, then withdrew his hands and calmly looked at Ling ngyao’s father.
At this mont, Ling ngyao’s father’s face paled slightly. After contemplating in his wheelchair for a long ti, he sighed out, "I didn’t expect to actually lose this ti. If I had slowed a bit, maybe you wouldn’t have had a chance."
"You’re wrong. Even slowing a bit, the outco wouldn’t change; the loser is still you, not . Although I haven’t played much before, there aren’t many who can match in this world." Liu Hun replied calmly, looking at Ling ngyao’s father.
This isn’t re boasting; he has been exceptionally gifted in mory and logical thinking since childhood. Combining this life’s experiences with two souls, his mind grew even stronger than his almost undefeatable chess skills from past lives.
"No wonder I lost; I encountered a master level player. Yet this defeat is comforting—it’s only a ga," Ling ngyao’s father shook his head, then smiled at Liu Hun.
Hearing his words, a chill flashed in Liu Hun’s eyes. This old man’s words clearly imply he would fail regarding ngyao, which isn’t what Liu Hun wishes to see.
"Don’t you have anything more to say to now?" Liu Hun asked calmly while looking at Ling ngyao’s father.
Ling ngyao’s father smiled just as Wu Ma brought tea over. Raising a cup himself and taking a sip, he said to Liu Hun, "Liu Hun, taste my tea first."
Without much hesitation, Liu Hun lifted the teacup and took a sip. Under Ling ngyao’s father’s hopeful gaze, Liu Hun answered directly, "It pales significantly compared to the tea previously drank at Wang Gui’s."
"I thought this tea might impress you, but it seems I’ve shown my lack of skill," Ling ngyao’s father sighed deeply upon hearing Liu Hun’s words.
Liu Hun didn’t reply further but continued looking calmly at Ling ngyao’s father.
Noticing this, Ling ngyao’s father understood what Liu Hun wanted to know. After a pause, he gazed at the gloomy sky and eventually murmured lowly, "Back then, under your pressure, our Ling Family faced bankruptcy. With your growing influence in Huaihai Province, many families once allied with us distanced themselves. The Ling Family’s fortune depleted quickly; soon after, the old master passed away. Our brothers divided the remaining assets. I intended a resurgence, but a sudden car accident rendered my lower half immobile, forcing wheelchair life. Days felt worse than death, even contemplating suicide."
Ling ngyao’s father paused here, glanced at Liu Hun, and then continued with a slight smile, "I thought my life would end there, so I left Huaihai Province, avoiding watching you ascend to life’s peak. Finally, I chose to co to Beijing, spending all savings on a house. Later, an unexpected chance brought hope: my wife unexpectedly got pregnant, and her years of money secretly funded a business. After conceiving, the company flourished—sothing I hadn’t considered; it granted surprises in the final Chapter of my life."
"You know these aren’t the things I want to know," Liu Hun frowned, speaking earnestly to Ling ngyao’s father.
"Later, I had soone invite ngyao to work in Beijing; a path she wanted but I opposed. Now I’ve co to terms, and in Beijing, my wife utilized connections to get ngyao into the tax office. After returning, ngyao beca thus; however, Liu Hun, this trip might be in vain. ngyao won’t return with you; it’s her choice, not our coercion. You must understand ngyao’s nature—if unwilling, none can force her," said Ling ngyao’s father, face solemn.
His main aim in saying this is to have Liu Hun give up, although he knows despite such words, Liu Hun will seek ngyao directly. But this doesn’t worry him; confidence lies in his daughter.
"Today our family lacks forr disputes, enjoying life’s joys. No one can separate us, and it’s mutually willing; I believe anyone in this family wouldn’t favor our separation," Ling ngyao’s father sighed again upon Liu Hun’s silence.
"Liu Hun... why are you here?" Just as her father’s words fell, two figures appeared at the doorway, with Ling ngyao leading. Surprised, she exclaid seeing Liu Hun, face showing hints of astonishnt.
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Liu Hun turned toward the ever-replayed figure in his mind. At this mont, he froze, saying nothing, simply gazing quietly at Ling ngyao.
Although nothing occurred between Liu Hun and Ling ngyao, her presence held profound importance in his heart for reasons unknown.
