"Screee!"
The bat unleashed a sound wave. Auric was trying to protect himself, but Ellia managed to react one step faster. She swung her blade, generating enough power to slash the sound wave.
She positioned herself between Auric and the bat.
The situation had gone from bad to worse. Arina was struggling to break free from the other bat while they were occupied with this one.
Seeing that the sound wave didn’t hit the targets, the bat flapped its wings before letting out another cry. The closed wings concentrated the sound in a single area.
"Kh." Ellia gritted her teeth. She had just realized what kind of beast they were fighting. "Rank 2 bats—no, near rank 3."
The other bat also sent another sound wave toward them.
"Miss, Auric!" Arina warned them out loud, but the sound wave would definitely reach them faster.
Fortunately, Lindwurm warned Auric one step faster.
Auric imdiately grabbed Ellia’s shoulder and used the Void Step to teleport diagonally into the air.
Auric then pushed Ellia to the side. "You can reach it, right?"
"!!!" Ellia understood what Auric was planning to do. Hesitation would be costly, so she imdiately used her own Void Step and swung her sword.
Gamma Blade.
The sword strike flew extrely fast, hitting the bat in the chest.
The bat screeched in pain as it lost its grip on Arina.
Arina covered her feet with enough energy to dampen the impact when landing. However, this also ant the second bat was closer to Auric, and no one was going to stop it.
The second bat launched itself at Auric and unleashed a sound wave.
"Auric!" Arina rushed to him, trying to help him. She was one step too late. Auric had already been hit by the sound wave. This high-pitched cry made her eardrums feel like they were rupturing.
And Auric, who was at the center of it, would definitely feel much worse.
Unfortunately for the bat, Auric had the ’Imagine.’
He used this battle technique to create a pair of earplugs. So, the sound didn’t hurt him that much.
Auric also used the Diamond Wall to stop the bat, but the sound wave carried so much impact that it shattered the Diamond Wall again.
Auric got blasted by the sound wave, as if he had been hit by a truck.
Fortunately, the impact had been reduced by the Diamond Wall. Coupled with the body armor technique and the armor he received from the tournant, Auric managed to withstand the bat’s attack.
He was pushed back quite far, but he didn’t sustain any injuries.
Auric turned around and tossed the earplugs to Arina. "You may want to use this."
Arina was slightly surprised that Auric even had the ti to think about this. She had almost forgotten that Ellia’s mind was also this sharp during battle.
After saving her, Ellia used the Sword Seal. The shock wave from the swing made the first bat uncomfortable. At the sa ti, the energy expanded, looped around her body, and hit the second bat.
The second bat was forced to flee, but it couldn’t avoid a graze on the wing, giving the group valuable ti to think.
As soon as Ellia landed, Auric tossed another pair of earplugs to her, while Arina said, "Miss, you and Auric handle one. I will stop the other one!"
"!!!" Auric and Ellia were startled. They wondered if this was the correct choice. After all, both of them thought Auric and Arina would be working together while Ellia handled a bat by herself. That was the most logical thing.
However, Arina actually added, "You and Auric can kill a bat much faster. As long as I can keep one at bay, we will crush them."
Both Auric and Ellia weren’t exactly convinced, but they couldn’t deny the possibility either. If Auric and Ellia worked together, they indeed could kill it faster. After all, Auric’s multiple elents were aggressive, which worked well with Ellia’s fighting style.
Arina used the Plant General, forming multiple roots. "Co here!"
"Scree!"
The bat unleashed another sound wave. This ti, it cracked the roots right away. Prolonged exposure would be enough to shatter the roots like glass.
Arina might be Ellia’s limiter, but she didn’t plan to beco a useless burden.
Arina clapped her hands. The roots abruptly expanded as though new roots had just sprouted from the existing roots. These roots started enveloping the existing roots like another layer of skin, which strengthened them.
As a result, the sound wave couldn’t destroy her Plant General.
If the bat wanted to destroy her ability, she would simply cover it with her own power one more ti.
Ellia looked at Arina’s resolve with a solemn expression. She shouldn’t doubt Arina.
Now that Arina stopped a bat, Ellia imdiately put on the earplugs and rushed to the second bat.
The second bat had already flown up to the ceiling to gain so distance. It was ready to launch a burst of sound waves that would also hit Arina.
Auric might have been surprised, but Lindwurm worked like an alarm. He kept warning Auric about the bat’s movent.
Knowing that the bat had flown away, Auric gathered all his energy into his right hand, shooting the Night Arrow.
This was the strongest Night Arrow he could use, so he wondered if it would actually injure the bat.
The Night Arrow flew at a high speed, but the bat had enough ti to unleash another sound wave, though not the one it originally intended.
The sound wave neutralized the Night Arrow. As expected, he was still too weak to compare himself against a rank 2 beast, let alone one that had almost reached rank 3.
However, this was his strongest attack, coupled with his strongest thod of release.
When it was dispersed, it still contained enough energy to cause a burst, which neutralized the sound wave.
At the very least, he managed to neutralize the enemy’s attack as well.
Ellia, on the other hand, managed to close in. She used her Severed Sword, splitting her sword strike into eight.
The bat flew away, avoiding all the strikes, but Ellia actually only sent six of them to the bat. She predicted the bat would be able to avoid it, so she teleported the other two a bit further behind.
She even intentionally concentrated the attacks on the right side so that the bat would flee to the left.
So, the other two sword strikes angled to the left so that when the bat fled, they would hit it.
The bat wailed in pain as one sword strike hit the wing while the other hit the chest.
Nevertheless, it managed to withstand the attack and lunged toward Ellia.
Ellia hit the bat’s feet with her scabbard. Unfortunately, the bat noticed her blade, so it imdiately flapped both wings, producing enough pressure to knock her down.
"Auric. Boost ."
Auric used the Plant Outburst to raise a wooden pillar. In addition, he used the wind elent on the tip, producing enough wind to soften the impact.
Ellia managed to land on the wooden pillar with one foot before jumping back up.
At the sa ti, Auric used the Piercing Thunder, aiming it at the left side of the bat.
The bat tried to flee to the right side, but Ellia asked Auric to boost her so that she could conserve her Void Step.
"Scree!" The bat panicked when it saw Ellia appear in front of it.
It tried to stop Ellia or blast her away, but Ellia swung her blade first. Her sword slash extended from one wing to the other, causing blood to spurt and the bat to fall.
Unfortunately, fighting a near rank 3 bat wasn’t this easy. While falling down, the bat managed to turn its body around so that it would face Auric.
At the last mont, it spread its wings and flapped them, completely stopping the fall.
Auric gulped, smiling under the pressure. He then used the Void Step to teleport behind the bat.
He used the ability that he couldn’t use before.
Rain of Fire.
This was a technique he got from the dean of the Evolution Departnt.
A few fireballs rained down on the bat, but it simply spread its wings to generate enough power to deflect them.
Auric didn’t stop there. He activated another fire-elent ability, Explosion.
Boom!
The ’Explosion’ directly hit the bat’s body, but the bat actually managed to cover its body with its wings at the last mont.
The bat sent forth one wing to stop Auric, but Auric also had a close-range technique.
He waved his hand with his index and middle fingers acting like a blade. The lightning elent extended those fingers.
Lightning Blade.
The Lightning Blade stopped the wing, but the bat sprang toward Auric, trying to surround him with its wings.
It was ti to run away. Still, he had just used the Void Step, so he couldn’t use it again for another few seconds.
So, Auric used the Shadow Clones, splitting himself into five and going in different directions.
The bat was startled, but it let out a screech to make all Aurics except for the real one disappear.
"Tsk." Auric clicked his tongue. It looked like he would have to endure so damage.
Fortunately, he had bought enough ti for Ellia to land and reach them. Ellia swung her blade, forcing the bat to tilt its body back.
The bat realized that both Auric and Ellia were the worst combination. Auric might be weaker, but all his elents and battle techniques were annoying to deal with. Even if the bat could overpower him, it would take ti to kill Auric.
Ellia, on the other hand, possessed extraordinary strength. She worked well with Auric as if she were able to read his mind.
Their cooperation flowed so smoothly that the bat had no ti to hurt any of them.

Unwilling to die just like this, the bat opened its mouth, gathering all its energy in its throat.

The bat spread its wings as if inviting Ellia to hit it, but that also ant it could unleash its power at Arina.
Auric suddenly shouted, "Ellia, go! Arina is the target!"
Ellia was startled as she looked at Auric. Since she was behind Auric, she was the closest one to Arina and the one with the better position to block any attack toward her.
"NOW!"
"Tsk!" Ellia clicked her tongue and turned around to get into the best position to intercept the attack.
Unfortunately, this was a trick from the bat. Once Ellia was gone, the bat’s aim changed to Auric. This ti, Ellia wouldn’t be in the position to block the attack for him.
Auric couldn’t help but grin as if he were facing death for the first ti—at least that was what it looked like.
Suddenly, Ellia stomped the ground, forcefully cutting her montum. She turned around and closed the distance between her and Auric in a single leap. "NOW!"
It was her turn to shout, signaling Auric.
Auric used the Void Step and teleported upward.
"!!!" The bat was startled because there was nothing left between it and Ellia. Ellia’s eyes turned bloodshot as she unleashed everything she had in one swing.
Her energy extended the blade and cleanly cut the bat in two, killing it.
"Hahaha." Auric laughed wholeheartedly, knowing Ellia would definitely do it. There was another trick that Auric had planted.
When Lindwurm told him about the target, Auric knew Ellia was in the position where she could only see his back.
Hence, Auric used ’Imagine’ to write two words on his back: "Hit ."
It was a simple ssage. Coupled with Auric’s loud warning, Ellia could definitely understand the ssage, and thus they killed the bat.
