790: Showdown.
790: Showdown.
Despite being prepared for what was to co, Alec knew that taking on a Tier 7 zombie alone was nearly impossible.
As he locked eyes with the rapidly approaching Agility-type zombie, he realized there was no way to evade the incoming attack, his only option was to steel his resolve and take the strike head-on.
Bang!
The impact was imdiate, the Low Tier 7 Agility-type zombie lunged, slamming its claws toward Alec.
In response, Alec swept his right hand forward, summoning seven layers of earth shields in rapid succession.
This wasn’t just an ordinary Low Tier defensive spell anymore, it was one of his most advanced techniques, which had now been refined to the mid-tier rank, and the once rough, rocky shields now glead with a polished, brown earth hue, their surfaces smooth and reinforced.
The more mana he poured in, the more layers stacked up, but even at his limit, he couldn’t push beyond the seventh shield.
Still, Alec had always been confident in this defence, as no mid-tier mage he had faced had ever managed to break more than three layers, that confidence made him believe he could at least withstand the initial strike from the mutated zombie.
But the mont the claws collided with his spell, Alec’s confidence shattered, he watched in horror as his shields crumbled one by one, disintegrating under the sheer force of the attack, they didn’t even slow the zombie down, it was like slicing through paper with a razor-sharp blade.
In a split second, the claws were inches from his chest, reacting on instinct, Alec clenched his fist, his Qi surging and coating his hand in a swirling mix of red and brown hues, with all his strength, he launched a desperate counterstrike.
Boom!
The resulting explosion sent him hurtling backward away from on top his shadow wolf mount, his body skidding across the ground, as he gritted his teeth, struggling to regain control and cushion his fall as the sheer force of the clash reverberated through his entire fra.
After five gruelling seconds, a massive earth pillar shot up from the ground due to his manipulation of the earth.
A split second later, Alec’s body slamd into it, bringing his montum to an abrupt halt, to onlookers, it seed strange, as to why would he willingly crash into the pillar?
But in reality, he had used it to counteract the force of the zombie’s attack, allowing him to regain his footing.
As the makeshift wall behind him crumbled into dust, Alec pushed himself upright, spitting blood onto the ground.
The battlefield fell into a stunned silence.
The golems froze, the low-rank Gordon mages were in shock, even the mid-rank mages of the Gordons clan, that was still caught up in their own battles, hesitated, contemplating whether they should fall back.
But then, Brandon stepped forward, he clenched his fists, forcing himself to stay steady as he spoke, his voice carrying across the battlefield.
“Keep fighting!
Under Alec’s na, kill as many as you can, or he’s going to be pissed when this is over!”
Brandon knew Alec’s orders well, no matter what happened, they were to fight until their bodies could no longer move.
Retreat was never an option, not even if Alec himself was in danger, the battle plan had to be followed at all costs, as Alec never wanted them to turn their back on their opponents.
With that speech from Brandon they were all motivated to kill more so they could help Alec fast.
As all this unfolded, Midnight’s aura surged.
The once-hidden power within the shadow wolf beast finally broke through its previous limits, shattering the illusion of being a re Peak Tier 5.
Its true strength radiated outward for the first ti, Midnight was a Mid-Tier 6 soul beast.
Standing closest to the agility-type zombie, Midnight let out a guttural snarl, its body tensed, muscles coiled as if preparing to lunge, the hunger for battle was clear in its glowing red eyes.
But Alec knew better.
Despite its formidable strength, Midnight was still a mid-rank beast, if it tried to face a high-rank, Type 3 zombie alone, it would be nothing short of suicide.
Even though soul beasts didn’t die permanently when killed, they still suffered a severe period of weakness, and to recover, they needed to be fed souls, without them, Midnight would take far too long to return to full strength.
And in a battle like this, that was a risk Alec couldn’t afford.
