"Annoying?"

Rei and Roseline were stunned and exchanged glances.

"That's right." Evalyn nodded and proceeded to explain everything that had happened.

After ten minutes they finally realized what had happened, and their faces imdiately fell.

"Lucas really went too far this ti," Roseline muttered with a sigh.

She then bowed her head and apologized to Evalyn.

"I'm sorry, Evalyn. This is all my fault. I shouldn't have paired you with him. I'm truly sorry."

Rei quickly lowered his head as well.

"It's not just Roseline. I'm at fault too. I was the one who ca up with the idea of pairing you with Lucas, so I share the bla."

He hadn't expected Lucas to act so immaturely. Lucas had allowed Evalyn to lead the assault on Infernos City while he rely watched from afar.

Although Rei knew Lucas was sulking because Evalyn had opposed his plan, he also knew that Evalyn had been right.

Lucas's plan had essentially been a suicide mission. The generals had agreed with Evalyn as well, so she had done nothing wrong.

"It's okay, Ancestors; please raise your heads."

Evalyn stepped forward and gently helped them straighten up.

"It's all in the past now. I don't hate him, so don't worry," she said with a reassuring smile.

"Besides, after we captured Infernos City, he put his pride aside and took part in the following assaults."

Rei and Roseline fell silent and exchanged another glance.

They were impressed by Evalyn's forgiving nature, but they knew the issue wasn't nearly that simple.

Lucas was the Hero of Darkness. He carried a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Even so, what he had done during the assault on Infernos City had gone too far.

"I'll speak with him and make sure this doesn't happen again," Rei said.

Roseline nodded. "I'll leave it to you."

Turning back to Evalyn, Rei smiled.

"As for you, you've done a lot for us, so I've asked His Majesty to prepare a gift for you. It should arrive tomorrow."

Evalyn blinked in surprise. Just as she was about to refuse, sothing unexpected happened.

A faint white glow began to spread from her body, growing brighter by the second.

"Evalyn, your body..." Roseline said, her eyes widening as she pointed at her with a trembling hand.

Rei was equally startled. He imdiately stepped forward and checked her condition.

Strangely, there was no sign of danger whatsoever.

"What's happening? Why is your body glowing like that?" he asked worriedly.

Evalyn fell silent for a mont. She could vaguely sense that her existence was about to be severed from this world and pulled back to her own era.

Fortunately, the sensation lasted only a brief mont before everything returned to normal.

"It seems I almost returned to my era just now," she replied in a heavy tone.

"Returned to your era?" Rei asked in surprise.

Only then did he rember Evalyn's identity and origins.

After being so focused on the war, he had nearly forgotten that Evalyn was his descendant from the future.

"Evalyn..." Rei was about to say sothing, but Evalyn quickly reassured him.

"Don't worry, Ancestor. I don't think I'll return to my era before the Demon Emperor is defeated. Nolan told the sa thing."

Rei swallowed the words he was about to say and nodded slowly.

However, the incident served as a warning. They needed to accelerate the assault on the capital imdiately.

If Evalyn disappeared before they succeeded in conquering it, the situation could beco extrely dangerous.

After all, much of their success so far was due to Evalyn's invaluable contributions.

Rei glanced at Roseline, who was already looking at him. From the exchange of their gazes, they both understood what the other was thinking.

...

Deep within a dark forest, Nolan sat quietly beside a campfire.

A little girl lay on her side with her head resting on his right thigh.

Nolan stared at his right palm, which had briefly emitted a faint glow before the light slowly faded away.

His expression remained calm as he muttered, "In a day or two, Evalyn, Eira, and I should return to the era we ca from."

He looked up at the night sky and let out a long sigh.

"In the end, this era was never where we were ant to be. But there's still one important matter I need to resolve."

Lowering his gaze, he looked at Chloe, who was sleeping peacefully in his lap.

"I need to find her a place where she can stay as soon as possible," he whispered, gently stroking her head.

Over the past eight days, he had taken Chloe on a journey across the Western Continent.

He had also taught her the basics of magic, especially spatial magic.

The results were quite satisfactory. The girl was incredibly talented, just as he had expected.

However, Nolan didn't have much ti left in this era. Soon, he would have to leave this world behind.

When that happened, Chloe would be left all alone, and he didn't want that.

"Maybe the Tower of Silence would be a good place for her."

The next mont, he shook his head and dismissed the idea.

"No, that's not the right choice. Chloe is a demon. There's no way they'd accept her."

Although the Tower of Silence welcod all races, Nolan knew that exception did not extend to demons.

Sylvia, despite being an elf, had faced discrimination from the students there. He could only imagine what Chloe would have to endure if he left her in such a place.

Suddenly, a certain place ca to mind.

"The Falling Star Academy..."

...

Early the next morning...

"Thank you for coming, Prince Arnold," Rei said with a smile as he extended his hand.

Arnold returned the gesture and shook it firmly.

"You're welco. As I promised, I've brought thousands of dragon riders from my empire to help repel any aerial assaults on the capital."

He gestured toward the soldiers behind him.

Thousands of warriors clad in brown armor sat atop dragons that stood roughly three ters tall.

The dragons appeared small because they were rely dragon-type monsters, not true dragons.

There was a vast difference between dragon monsters and mbers of the dragon race.

The dragon race possessed intelligence, the ability to transform into humanoid forms, and many other advantages.

More importantly, dragons were extrely proud beings. There was no way they would allow themselves to be compared to mindless dragon monsters.

Rei smiled in satisfaction. With the dragon riders' arrival, the greatest obstacle to the assault on the capital had been completely resolved.

The two chatted casually for a while, mostly discussing the upcoming attack on the capital.

"By the way, there's sothing I'd like to ask, Hero of Light," Arnold said, lowering his voice. "But if you'd rather not answer, I understand."

"Please, go ahead, Prince Arnold." Rei looked at him curiously.

Arnold glanced at Evalyn in the distance before asking cautiously, "That warrior you brought with you... Evalyn. Isn't she from another world?"
