Rex was going back to the Dark Elf Kingdom to learn about the Tabaxis customs.
It was mandatory for him to do this before going to et them.
Of course—Rex already bought a book from the System Shop—that would explain to him the Tabaxi race's history. Information surged into his brain, he was learning rapidly. It was akin to him being an empty cup being filled with water.
In re minutes, he beca a historian of the Tabaxi Race easily.
Perhaps, he knew about the Tabaxi Race more than the Tabaxis themselves.
Had it not for the high-rank Supernatural race's histories being way more expensive, costing around the tens of millions to billions of gold, he would have learned about every race in this world to better prepare himself for future conflicts.
Being a Werewolf helped him process this much information.
Others who aren't fortunate with regenerative ability as strong as him would've died.
Learning this much was a hazardous process, and sotis—due to how high his tolerance to pain was, Rex forgot about that. Nevertheless, I am confident in confronting the Tabaxis. It doesn't an I didn't need Iris' help though.
Information-wise, Rex now knew more than Iris, that's for certain.
But there must be so customs or traditions that he was still in the dark.
Like all societies, there are unwritten customs that exist.
Rex needed Iris to be the one to teach him that as well as practice his mannerisms.
Not too long ago, Iris warned him that he shouldn't confront the Tabaxis with force—as that would result in a situation where neither side wins. Controlling the Saltura Bridge, Rex could not offend them, that's what Iris said.
So this was the second on his list, right below learning about Chaos Phantoms.
Snapping out of his trance, Rex looked around.
He seed to be teleported to a forest edge and upon glancing back to the forest, Rex could tell that it was most certainly not the Humming Damned Forest—he wasn't near ho, in fact—he was far away from ho taking into account of the tundra terrain.
Glancing to his side, he saw a towering ridge that rose hundreds of ters.
It sloped down as it extended forward.
"Where are we?" Rex asked, raising an eyebrow at Mavenna.
She spent a lot of energy to teleport them here, it was clear seeing that she was very pale.
"I took you to where you wanted," Mavenna panted.
Upon hearing this, Rex looked around once again, "I don't think this is the Demon's territory, there's life here. I asked you to take to Elder Tilrith. Did you even arrange a eting with her or did you instantly teleport to et her?"
"I did ask her!" Mavenna rebutted, puffing her cheeks, and pointed ahead. "She's right there!"
Following to where Mavenna was pointing—Rex saw Elder Tilrith on top of the ridge.
Just as he was about to go to Elder Tilrith, he stopped at the sight of an explosion.
Continue your saga on empire
Several miles ahead, he saw a massive explosion—the breeze from the shockwave was even able to reach him, "Hmm...? I sensed Hell Void energy—but what about the other energy, I do not recognize it?"
"It's the Angels or rather... the Dark Angels" Mavenna replied.
Rex snapped his neck to look at Mavenna in surprise.
He didn't expect her to know anything about the Dark Angels as she was mostly passive.
But what was more shocking was the fact that there were actual Dark Angels in front of him.
Being near enough to feel the Dark Angels' energy wasn't the part that was surprising him, it was the fact that he was here—near them. Seeing the Dark Angels ant that he was either on the other side of the Saltura Bridge or near it.
Mavenna basically teleported them so far away from Dargena City.
"Where are we exactly? Are we near Saltura Bridge or on the other side of it?"
"We're not on the other side, don't worry"
Upon hearing this, Rex nodded, he didn't want to confront the Dark Angels right now.
Just then, he squinted and looked at Mavenna probingly.
"W- What...? What is it? Why are you looking at like that?"
"You knew about the Dark Angels and you knew where Elder Tilrith was..."
"I'm sorry?"
"I thought you ran away from Elder Tilrith?"
"Ah- Well... It's true but I also thought that Dargena City is comfortable"
"So which one is it? Did you run away? Or did you want to stay? Pick your story"
Rex turned slowly towards her, his kingly energy began sizzling like hot vapor as he began to approach Mavenna slowly. "Do you know about the Vampire who got captured and thrown to Kyran?"
"N- No...? Why are you doing this?" Mavenna stamred, stepping back nervously.
As opposed to answering, Rex continued.
"Kyran tied him to the ceiling by the arms—and subrged half of his body—in a barrel full of Dark Linzite, lting his bottom half. His regeneration healed him but every ti it did, it was t with the Dark Linzite water. Placing him in perpetual and unending torture. Do you want to experience it?"
"Of course, not! I don't want to"
Unconsciously, Mavenna's back hits a tree and Rex stands directly in front of her.
"If you don't want to, then tell the truth" Rex demanded with an icy tone.
Even then, Mavenna seed to be hesitating.
Seeing this, Rex raised his fingers—preparing to activate the Mind lt Tattoo.
Realizing what he was planning to do, Mavenna quickly yielded.
"Okay! Okay!" She mused hurriedly. "I did run away from Elder Tilrith, that is really the truth. I hated doing sothing tiring but she contacted , asking to be her spy in Dargena City and I agreed to keep her off my back"
Hearing this, Rex's eyes glistened with a deadly light but Mavenna quickly raised her hands.
"But! I was only told to report to her if you ntion the Demon Race and what your stance on the Dark Angels' matters" She added—fearing that he would activate the Mind lt Tattoo. It would be problematic and painful.
Rex squinted his eyes, "Is that all? If I found out that you lie, I will kill you, Mavenna..."
"It's the truth, I'm not lying!" Mavenna replied, she seed genuine.
Since Mavenna confessed and her motive was more or less not hostile towards him or those under him, Rex decided to let her off the hook—he wouldn't kill her. "How often did you, and Elder Tilrith make contact?"
"I don't know..." Mavenna pondered. "Maybe once every two hours?"
"Once in every two hours?!" Rex was stunned, that was more frequent than he expected.
Much more frequent to be exact.
"She and I are quite close, like... family close but she's annoying most of the ti"
"Annoying? What are you, siblings?"
"As if! I'm not anywhere as old as that stupid aunty!"
"How younger are you than her?"
"I'm a hundred years younger"
"A hundred years...? Isn't that like nothing for Demons?"
"Eugh, whatever! Bottom line is, I'm not her sister!"
Rex could only look at her blankly, his lips pursed as he was convinced of the opposite.
That's what sisters would say, honestly.
Deciding to not press further, Rex reached forward and took off the Hell Hunter Collar but as he loosened it, Mavenna quickly grabbed his hand to stop him. Her face turned white, "What are you doing? Rex, you are not serious..."
"What? I'm not going to kill you but I need to punish you" Rex answered nonchalantly.
He pushed her hand away and took off her collar.
Mavenna fixed her eyes on the collar as if it were her lifeline, she was already feeling unwell.
"I'm going to go et Elder Tilrith—and if you want to get your collar back, you can go to after waiting for 10 minutes" Rex instructed before turning skyward—intending to leap to the ridge.
But Mavenna stopped him, "Ten minutes...? I'll die"
"Not my problem" Rex shrugged before bending his knees and leaped skyward.
As soon as he reached a quarter of the way, he frowned when a force pulled him downward.
Rex landed back beside Mavenna, clear confusion on his face.
