One month passed by after the eting with the underworld Bosses and I was busy with my work.
I had to assign soone to look after Herot just like Kyrell was looking after Izkar but I still hadn’t found anyone capable enough. So, I was currently staying in Herot and looking after the redevelopnt of the place.
There were many criminals in the area who at first refused to comply with my orders of forbidding the cris and starting a decent life so, I just had to show them who’s the boss and from then on it was basically just watching them start the work.
In the anwhile, my underground information network was growing rapidly with a new place joining as a branch. Herot, Izkar and Oasis were connected by the communication devices.
Everything was going smoothly with my plan set into motion regarding Mordino and Sestian connecting Gate. I had also finally received a letter from Miri.
She said she was thankful to for sending the Mages and also allowed the Magic Gate being ford. She had signed the agreent which I had Dad take up to the King to show that she as a monarch was ready to accept the help of Sestia.
She said it would greatly help her people and also the traders who usually fell victims to the rogues and bandits to safely travel.
But still, the construction of the Magic Gate would take so ti so, we had to wait for at least six months till they successfully made it.
Miri asked to co visit her so ti but since I had no ti I couldn’t do that just yet. She told about her coronation and how the people wholeheartedly welcod her. I could sense her happiness emanating from her words and couldn’t also hear her excited voice ringing in my head as I read her letter.
"She’s really happy." I mumbled as I read her letter.
"Who?" Nora asked as she was arranging the docunts.
"Miri."
"Miri? You an Mordino’s Queen?" She asked and I nodded.
"Oh... Lucky her," she said, "If only I can make you smile like that."
"Smile like what?" I asked.
"That dreamy and charming smile." I chuckled and shook my head as I continued reading Miri’s letter.
"Master," Nora suddenly called and I humd.
"You know, if you marry her you will beco the King of Mordino!"
"Hm... But I’m most likely to adopt her as my daughter instead of marrying her. I’d prefer a partner of my age though. Not a child."
"Eh? But there are old n here who marry girls half their age though."
"Are you trying to say I should fall into the sa category?" I asked and she waved her hand.
"No, no! I’m just saying that regardless of age, any girl would be ready to marry you."
I chuckled, "You don’t even know how old I am."
"Didn’t you say you were thirty one?"
"Mhm, but I never said this is my real form." I prompted and her jaw dropped.
"Wait, really?!" She gasped and I chuckled.
"With ti you’ll know more, Nora. For now, please don’t drop those docunts and put them in place." I said pointing at the docunts in her hands that seed like they were going to spill any mont.
"Master, you’re not really an old man, are you?"
"No."
"Then, you’re not ugly, are you?"
"I’m not."
"Then, it’s fine."
"You only care about my looks, huh."
"That’s not it!"
I chuckled slightly as Nora went back to her work and I finished reading the letter filled with the feelings of gratitude, anticipation of future and the warm happiness.
"Now, let’s see what my dear brother and Eric are doing?" I wondered as I picked up the letter that I’d received from Eldarf mansion.
The sender was Kent who reported about the kids along with the three who were facing punishnt.
It wasn’t exactly punishnt but a stricter training that I had to make them go through at so point. Rune’s school had started so, he would co by on weekends while Eric had to go through the tough training under Lyall’s instructions every day.
Kent said that the two at first were surprised to know that even the instructor for them was there receiving punishnt just like them.
And the punishnt was to stay away from his normal duties and not being part of missions. But the real punishnt for them was that they wouldn’t have to take part in any of the plans that I made or contact .
Eric and Rune were now able to amalgamate mana with their swords now and their speed had also increased. Kent said that Lyall was surprisingly a good instructor so, the other kids also usually secretly tried to attend his classes and imitate him.
And before long, his classes for two was extended for everyone.
"I guess, I should drop by so ti to see how the kids have improved." I mumbled before I reached out and picked up the next letter which made my eyebrows furrow a little.
It was a black envelope and red seal with a familiar insignia.
"Lord Devil." I mumbled and opened the envelope plucking out the letter.
"Dear Lord Dragon,
How are you? I hope you are doing well albeit, you must be busy managing your business affairs, I suppose.
After our eting at Froish City, I have been thinking of sending you an invitation to et once more and discuss about your business ideas. Your way of thinking and your belief that the change is approaching has intrigued .
I was hoping to see you sooner but even I was busy with my work so, I couldn’t send you a letter any sooner. But now that, I have so ti on hands I was wondering if you’d like to join for this show that is being played at the theatre in Shadowcliff.
I don’t know if you like opera or plays but I took the liberty of sending you an invitation so, if you’d like to have an evening away from work. I’d be happy to keep you company.
Hopefully, you won’t be busy enough to ignore my invitation and co see this old man for a little talk and an entertaining evening.
Shadowcliff City Lord,
Devil."
I held the ticket which had the na of the show and the ti and date before looking at the elegant handwriting.
I had no idea what this old man was planning but, it wouldn’t hurt to go for a show. I liked plays and movies but since this world didn’t have digital dia so, I had to suffice with books.
"The Missing Pianist." I read the title of the play.
It seed like a mystery play or sothing. I couldn’t help but feel a little anticipation, I could find out what the old man was planning after seeing him.
But, I still hadn’t found out anything about his real identity even after dispatching so spies on him. None of them were able to know anything, it was as if he only existed in the Underworld and his identity above ground was just that of a naless shadow.
A mysterious man.
I picked up the feather pen and picked a piece of paper before I started writing the reply to Lord Devil or maybe I should call him Count Drac since he was so secretive and all.
I agreed to our eting before sealing the letter.
In the past one month, I had received a few letters from the other two Lords, Hawke seed like he was starting to sway but Snake seed persistent enough as he tried to get to et him to clarify about the business ideas.
I kept our conversations to letters and I might have done the sa thing with the Devil had he not been so secretive about his identity. Regardless, my Mana Eyes weren’t helping with his matter so, I could only rely on our etings and my instincts to figure out whether he could be of assistance to or not.
I picked up the last letter that was on my table and almost smiled as I saw the seal. I hadn’t gone ho in a few days so, father was worried.
There was a knock on the door and Drac walked in with a bundle of papers and I gestured him to place them on the desk as I read the letter.
"Guess, I’ll be going ho for dinner." I mumbled.
"Pardon?" He asked and I shook my head.
Speaking of Drac, then I had given him a new na. He was officially a part of Oasis Foundation now and was called Drac Rayburn. Rayburn was the family na of a small noble family which was under the tutelage of Oasis Foundation. When I proposed then the idea of adopting a foster son on paper, they agreed right away.
The Rayburn couple had welcod Drac with open arms and though he stayed around for most of the ti they still liked his company. I could also see Drac starting to warm up to his new family so, I guess that was a good move.
He had been doing his work quite dedicatedly and since I had been keeping an eye on him myself so, I was starting to ease up as well.
At the end, everything seed like it was going well but in the back of my mind, I couldn’t help but feel strange as these peaceful days seed like the silence before the storm.
Damn, did I just jinx myself?
