We reached at the inn before evening and on our way we ended up encountering yet another band of rogue shifters which Lyall and I took care of.

I could use the interdiate spells of Dragon’s Magic but it still wasn’t enough if I had to gain an upperhand in future against the other species.

I took a bath in my original body and sat at the window looking at the freezing mountains that guarded the Kingdom of Sestia from the Shapeshifters’ land. The white snowcapped mountains seed familiar from the mountain range I had seen in my past life. Still treading through them and attacking the human side was quite a life-threatening and foolish thing to do.

I had decided to co to North as a wandering Mage in order to train in the wilderness and also have a look at the situation over here myself.

The informants wouldn’t be able to send any ssages since once the Winter begins the Gate and the doors to the North territory, Frosthail are closed. It was to prevent the rogue shifters who co down the mountain to escape the snow and lack of food from creating a havoc into the kingdom.

Hence, the total isolation of the Frosthail from the rest of the Kingdom. It would last for four months and Davian might just be in a great pinch since he had just beco the Grand Duke and he still had enemies in the midst of worrying about his missing parents.

"Poor guy." I mumbled feeling my breath step out as smoke.

I wasn’t feeling cold, my body had been changing a lot compared to the normal aspect, I was a Frost Mage and a Dragon’s successor after all.

But there were normal people here making a living and they needed protection from a good leader. I was hoping that Davian would beco that leader for them.

[Defender of Divine Glory asks you to get dressed warmly.]

"I’m not cold." I told him.

[Goddess of Wisdom tells you to not let your guard down.]

"I never do that."

Just as I said that, I heard the sounds of the screams piercing through the night and I was startled for a mont.

I grabbed my earstud and placed it in my ear before I jumped out of the window activating my wings in a split second.

I jerked up into the air and hovered high enough to see what was causing the screams.

I saw a people running away and then noticed a few large wolves that were attacking the houses.

"Shitty timing." I mumbled as I shot through the air towards the wolves, there were a total of four so, taking them out alone would be taxing.

I saw a small boy who was stuck under the rubble caused by the wolf attack. I spotted a wolf going straight for the kid who was trying to pull his leg from underneath the long planks.

I rushed in and kicked that wolf away before pulling the kid out of the ss.

"Tha-Thank you!" The kid cried out and clung to .

"Master!" I heard Lyall but didn’t turn as a wolf pounced on .

I stepped back and swung my arm sending a scythe made of water its way easily slicing through his torso.

"One down three more to go."

"Master!" I heard Lyall again and turned to see him slashing through another wolf with his daggers.

"Wha-What’s going on?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

Wasn’t it obvious?

"Tea party." I answered him and he gave a look before another wolf attacked him and he got busy.

I turned my attention back to the last wolf who seed like the largest, it was growling as he looked at with its fangs bare and bloodied.

They were rogues but it seed like they had completely shifted to their animal instincts. The wolf started circling around and I kept him in my gaze as it would look for the mont to pounce when I wasn’t ready.

I had been through such a situation in my past life when I had to fight hand to hand with-

The wolf pounced on and I jumped high up letting my wings carry in the air, the kid who was still clinging on to , wrapped his limbs around tightly.

It wasn’t inconvenient but it wasn’t very comfortable either.

The wolf growled and tried to jump and claw at but I was flying higher than his reach. I made a few water bullets and shot them at it, they worked like the real bullets as they pierced through the wolf’s fur but that didn’t stop it.

I made a huge water ball and splashed on it making it howl and yelp before it started running.

I wasn’t going to let it go, I used the Water sickle again this ti and slashed through its body, mutilating it in half before I slowly drifted down and landed on the roof of a destroyed house.

The commotion that had started so suddenly ca to a stop as the people realised that the danger was gone now.

Lyall was drenched in blood and with claw wounds on his arms but he was fine.

"Master, are you all right?" He asked as he stood a few feet below us.

"Talk about yourself." I said pointing at this bleeding arms.

"It’ll be fine," he said looking at his wounds and then at , "But, why are you carrying him?"

I looked at the kid who was glued to and patted his small back.

"Hey, little guy, it’s all right now." I said and the kid slowly pulled back, looked around and then stared at .

"You-You... killed those monsters." He stuttered and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Pel!" A feminine voice shouted and a woman broke through the crowd that had started to form around and Lyall and rushed to .

"Pel, oh my God!" She broke out in tears and the child leapt down from my arms and ran to her.

"Mama!"

"Are you two a part of the Seraph Knights?" A man from the crowd asked.

"No, we’re just travellers." I answered as I got down from the roof and landed near Lyall.

"Tra-Travellers?"

"But they just took down four monsters on their own."

"Are they here to help?"

"Who are they?"

The people started whispering amongst themselves and I stifled a yawn and looked at Lyall beside .

"Can we have a doctor here please? My attendant is bleeding." I called out attracting the attention of the people.

"Ah, yes!" A man broke off from the crowd and walked towards us.

"P-Please let guide you to my residence."

"No need, just wrap him up." I said and Lyall looked at .

"I-I couldn’t just do that to one of our saviours. M-My na is Tom Pyler and I’m the Head of this town so, please accept our gratitude." He said with a smile and I looked at Lyall.

"Fine, let’s go."

Just as we were moving, I heard the sound of the hooves, not one or two animals but more than that. I stopped and looked in the direction from where I heard the sound and Lyall ca beside .

"Are there more coming?" He asked.

"Don’t know."

Suddenly I saw the large figures and the sound of the neighing before the hooves clicked a few feet away and the forms of the knights ca into view.

They were dressed in a silver armour with the coat of arms of a shield with the design of a snowflake crossed by twin swords on them.

"Se-Seraph Knights!" Soone from the crowd squeaked and I tilted my head as I saw the large n carrying huge weapons surveying the area.

"What the hell happened here?" One of the knights who had deep green hair wondered aloud as he looked at the carcass of the wolf.

"Who did this?" Another one who seed like a leader with deep gray hair mumbled.

The gray headed guy looked at the crowd and asked, "What happened here? Who did this?"

"Th-Those monsters attacked us and these two people saved us!"

The people around gestured at and Lyall and the knights looked at us now.

"Who are you two?" The grey head asked and I couldn’t help the yawn thay broke through.

"Ah... Sorry about that, we’ve been travelling for a while so, I’m tired." I said as I cracked my neck muscles and Lyall seed exhausted beside too.

"Mind if we talk tomorrow? I’m sleepy and my attendant is injured."

The knight seed slightly surprised but I didn’t give him much ti to answer as I needed sleep. I couldn’t use Dragon’s Magic for a long period of ti because of lack of practice and my body still not being in sync with the elent so, it took a toll any ti I did use it.

"Then, I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night, Lyall, rest well." I spoke as I turned on my heels and the crowd parted letting through.

I didn’t have any idea that this small incident would lead to sothing significant enough for to stay at North longer than I expected.
