Now reading: Chapter 62 - 61. I’m Not God (2) from The Kingmaker System, a Fantasy novel by AnimeVerseGirl.

The small resturant in the Izkar was teeming with the noises of the clanking utensils and laughter and excited squeals apart from them all the other custors had left.

There were a total of seven elves including the child who found and four dwarves. The elves were all kids while the dwarves seed like the n who would probably in their twenties or sothing. I couldn’t calculate by looking at them as I sat at another table with Lyall and Kent.

"What to do with them now?" I wondered to myself as I watched them scarfing down the al that I had bought.

They were still in their old clothes and hadn’t cleaned up or treated by a doctor so, I still had so work to do.

Lyall looked like he was itching to ask sothing and I knew what it was. Why did I even do it?

There was the notification of successfully completing the task and the rewards received but the entity that gave this task was still a mystery.

Goddess of Wisdom- Athena still hadn’t responded to so, I was just left with these kids and a big question about their future.

I couldn’t leave them be because I had taken them under my wing and for so reason all of these kids knew that I was a Dragon. I couldn’t let them broadcast it all over that I was a Dragon.

Lyall was fidgeting from foot to foot and I sighed, Kent had co along with us on Kyrell’s orders since these kids could be "handful" if only he knew that these kids would rather stick to than run away.

"Ask away," I spoke up making Lyall instantly open his mouth.

"What will you do with these many slaves, Master? Should I send them to the two places as the servants?"

He was giving a thought on his own but I couldn’t send them off as servants to places, especially near my house and Fairisles’s mansion. For two apparent reasons, first they would grab attention and second, they would be mistreated. And I couldn’t even send them to Ryujin mansion since it was full of assassins.

"No, they won’t go anywhere." I said.

"But why’d you buy all of them, Master? I can understand that you are fond of kids but these many are excessive."

"Shut it, I’m not that fond of kids." I kicked on his shin from under the table and he cursed under his breath apologizing instantly.

"Then, what to do with these many? We can’t even release them, they will be caught and sold as slaves again."

I released a deep breath and the little elf girl got down from her stool and ran up to with her bun.

"Here!" She said and I looked at her bun.

Was it her way of repaying for the atloaf that I gave her?

I took the bun and she grinned widely as I took a bite.

"Eat well, God!"

I choked on the bite and Lyall and Kent moved at once handing water and patting my back.

I drank a few sips before relaxing and looking at the girl who had skipped back to others.

"You’ve got a new title." Lyall comnted and I groaned.

"I’m not God."

"Ah, screw it! Kent, find an inn for these kids and have soone keep an eye on them so that no one would kidnap them."

"All right, there is an inn affiliated with our guild, I can arrange for their stay there."

"Also get them cleaned up and dressed in proper clothes." I instructed making him nod.

It was almost dawn so I and Lyall had to return to the castle for our works, the ball was two days later so, it was a hectic ti for them already.

"We’ll leave for now, take care of the kids."

"All right." Kent replied.

I and Lyall stood up and were about to leave when I noticed the silence. The kids had stopped eating and were looking at .

"I’m leaving."

They quickly scrambled off their food table, so grabbed a few bread loaves and stood in a line in front of .

Were they thinking that I would take them with ?

"I am leaving, you all will be going with this Uncle."

"Master, at least call Big Brother." Kent grumbled.

The kids grew panicky and the little elf girl ran up and grabbed onto my legs before I could do anything about it the rest of the kids also ran up and latched on.

They all started wailing and shouting all at once.

Besides, did I ntion that it was only the little elf girl who approached who could speak the Kingdom’s language?

Well, the rest all spoke Elvish and Dwarvish which thanks to the gift of the Knowledge of Linguistics I could understand them clearly.

They were scared that I was going to leave them behind and didn’t want to leave them alone now that they were saved from one bastard.

"Listen, listen!" I snapped making them all go silent.

"I have work so I have to leave for now, I am busy. For now, this Big Brother will take care of you and bring you all to a good place, you will have warm als, clean clothes and proper beds so, stay there until I return. Do you understand?"

The little elf girl translated my words to the other kids and they seed crestfallen but the little elf girl tugged at my sleeve making look at her.

"I-If we follow your orders then will you return quickly?" She asked.

"All right, but only if you will be good and do whatever this Big Brother tells you to do without creating any troubles. Will you be able to do that?"

The girl looked at the other kids and translated my words to them before they all nodded.

"Also, if soone tries to harm or take you away, kill them."

The girl stared at before she translated it and the kids stared at with wide eyes.

"No need to be scared, I’m your only Master so, if anyone tries to do anything that hurts you then go ahead and get rid of them."

"Master, is it safe for you to tell them this? I an, they could really go ahead and create a massacre." Kent said.

"I will deal with that when they do create one, it is convenient for them to do it themselves than for to go around wiping people out for pissing off by laying their hands on these kids."

Kent let out a shaky laughter, "I’ll warn the people from the inn to be on their toes then."

After assuring them that I would return soon, I left the place with Lyall.

The people in the castle had woken up till the ti we returned and I had to answer to their enquiries before I reached my room.

I wasn’t sleepy or tired but I was thinking of sleeping for so ti. I closed my eyes trying to calm my thoughts which still were a ss after what I did.

I knew I had to co across elves and dwarves and all the other races sooner or later but I had no idea that I would have to babysit so many of them so soon. Besides, I still hadn’t figured out who that entity was who gave the task.

I had its favour now and that included that I could ask for help one ti from it and it would grant its aid. My patrons didn’t tell who it was or why I was following its order, yet, I was seeing a brighter side in this.

I could get use favour of the elves and dwarves for the future purposes and also this entity seed strong enough so, I could use so help when I would be in pinch.

I didn’t know when I drifted off to sleep but when I woke up I heard Silas’s voice calling out.

I groaned and sat up looking at the large clock in my room according to which I had only managed to nap for twenty minutes.

"Yes, Uncle?" I responded.

"Where were you? I’ve been trying to reach through since forever and besides, what have you done?" He asked right away.

"Rescued so poor kids." I answered nonchalantly.

"Elves and Dwarves!" He snapped.

"Yes."

"Why?"

"I felt pity for them."

"... Are you serious?"

"Yes."

I heard him sigh on the other side, "And what will you do with them now that you’ve bought them?"

"I still haven’t thought of it, the elves might help with Mana research-"

"I’m not taking any Elves in my Tower."

"Fine, I’ll think of a way myself."

Silas sighed again, "What were you thinking, Reina? Why did you go up North and what have you been doing stirring up all this trouble?"

"I’m not stirring trouble, Uncle. I’m getting caught in it."

He was silent for a mont, "... Your father and Grandfather sent letters to deliver to you."

"About ti, hurry up and send them to ."

"I’ll bring them when I co for the Winter Solstice ball."

"Huh?"

"What?"

"I thought the Mage’s Tower stayed away from the festivities of the normal people."

"I wouldn’t have gone of you weren’t there, Reina."

"All right, I’ll see you then. But I’m not attending the ball so, you’ll have to be alone for that."

"What? Why?"

"I can’t show my face so casually to the nobles, Uncle."

"Then why didn’t you change your appearance before leaving for North?"

"I like this face. It’s easier to charm people into doing my bidding if I have a handso face."

"I wonder where you’ve got this part of you from?"

I laughed.
