Shu Jiao’s eyes were also moist with tears. Ruan Jianguo stood to the side comforting the two of them, saying they could co over as a family to visit during the sumr. It was only half a year after all, and finally their mood improved a bit.
Ruan Hao, although school started when he turned sixteen, still took ti today to send them off.
Jiaojiao nestled herself into his embrace, reluctant to let go.
"Big Brother, you have to call Jiaojiao often, okay?"
"Alright." Holding the little sister snugly in his arms, Ruan Hao gently agreed.
The highborn beloved son of the Ruan family, whose elegance and refinent seed untouchable to bystanders, only revealed traces of earthly warmth when it ca to his sister.
Jiaojiao blinked her eyes earnestly, and suddenly thought of sothing, adding, "You also have to take good care of Xiaojin and Xiaoyin. Don’t let them die." Xiaojin and Xiaoyin were the goldfish Jiaojiao caught while fishing that day. She carefully selected two of them for Ruan Hao to keep in his dorm, while the others were placed into the Shu family’s lotus pond in the garden.
Ruan Hao couldn’t help but laugh at her words, looking at her indulgently as he continued to promise in good humor, "Okay, Brother will definitely take good care of them. I’ll wait for Jiaojiao to co inspect them during sumr vacation."
"Hmm. Jiaojiao will co back during the sumr to check on them." Jiaojiao nodded earnestly, nestling her head deeper into his embrace again.
Though it was half an hour’s drive from the garden to the station, ti seed to pass in the blink of an eye, and they soon arrived at the train station.
At the station, Ruan Hao accompanied them into the departure area.
They arrived at 1:30, but the train wasn’t scheduled to depart until 3:10 in the afternoon, leaving more than an hour. Ruan Hao wasn’t in a hurry to return to school and stayed with them in the waiting room.
Compared to the station on their way here, the Beidu station had far more people. It was noisy and chaotic. Jiaojiao and the others couldn’t find a place to sit, so they put their luggage on the ground and sat down on top of it.
All along, Jiaojiao clung tightly to Ruan Hao. Xiu Xi tried to pull her once, but Jiaojiao shrugged him off without hesitation.
"..." Xiu Xi looked at his hand that had been shaken off and could only comfort himself ntally, thinking, "It’s okay, once we’re back ho, no one will compete with for her attention anymore."
By around 2:00 p.m., Jiaojiao started to feel drowsy. The Ruanlin family found a few seats, and the group quickly dragged their luggage over to sit down.
Jiaojiao leaned against Ruan Hao, sitting groggily. In truth, she was so tired her eyes could barely stay open, yet she was reluctant to close them, insisting on chatting with Ruan Hao the whole ti.
anwhile, Ruan Jianguo was still enthusiastically picturing what it would be like to buy a villa once they were back ho. He beca more and more animated as he spoke, gesturing wildly—until the corner of his eye caught sight of a group of people suddenly entering through the main gate.
Each one was dressed in crisp suits, about ten people altogether, surrounding an elderly man who was walking with a cane as they made their way inside.
As the group entered, the noisy waiting room gradually fell silent.
Ruan Jianguo unconsciously fell silent as well, his chest tightening at the sight of those imposing figures walking in. It was an instinctive sense of warning that n are sotis prone to.
He stopped speaking, and the rest of the room followed suit, going completely quiet. Facing away from the entrance, the mbers of the Ruan Family instinctively turned back to look.
Jiaojiao, already half-asleep, was startled awake by the sudden silence. She turned her head to see what was happening, and imdiately spotted an elderly man walking toward them with the support of his cane. Based on the way he carried himself, it seed as though he was heading directly for them.
As if to confirm her suspicions, the elderly man stopped when he was about twenty ters away from them. He raised his hand and pointed at Xiu Xi, commanding, "Seize him."
