She seed to truly consider herself a Nun, believing in the so-called divine duty.

Thomas couldn't persuade her and could only watch as she stepped forward to bless the bodies lying on the ground.

Then—

An unbelievable scene occurred, as if Holy Light really descended from the sky, smoothing out the despair on the ground.

Thomas could hardly believe his eyes, yet what happened right before him was indeed real.

That corpse, already showing signs of Undead transformation, unexpectedly stopped changing and returned to eternal peace.

Everyone's faces showed expressions of disbelief, except Carian who maintained her usual deanor standing before the corpses.

She seed to know what she had done, using a calm and gentle tone to speak to the villagers.

"... Please bury them, they will no longer struggle to awaken."

After speaking, she returned to the caravan, leaving the crowd unable to calm down for a long ti standing in place.

Later, the villagers buried their compatriots, and the caravan coexisted peacefully with the villagers for the night.

Early the next morning, as the caravan prepared to leave quietly, those villagers brought along their ager belongings, leading their emaciated cattle and sheep, and followed behind the caravan.

Thomas was bewildered, not knowing what these people intended, when the village head who spoke with him yesterday stepped forward to explain the situation to him.

"The Lord no longer wants us, the army will soon co here, whether it's the King's or the rebel army's..."

"Anyway, either way it's death, we wish to go out with more dignity, please allow us to follow Lady Carian!"

"We are willing to act as her Guard, we don't want any reward, just hope she won't abandon us, and prays for us when we die!"

Thomas looked at them dumbfounded, as if watching a group of lunatics talking in their sleep.

Following behind Carian was one thing.

This person, who has been acting mystically since being saved, doesn't even know where she's going!

Just as Thomas was about to refuse, Mr. Colin, who had not appeared from beginning to end, unprecedentedly ca up behind him.

With a gentle smile on his handso face, he whispered in a voice only he could hear.

"Let them follow."

"But..."

"Isn't it interesting?"

Mr. Colin's remark of it being interesting trapped all of Thomas's reasons and complaints in his throat.

Since the Mage agreed, he couldn't really refuse.

After all, even if the gentleman left them, taking this group alone, the result would be the sa.

Ultimately, they weren't in a contractual relationship, he didn't pay the gentleman a penny, so the gentleman naturally didn't have to care about his feelings.

"If you insist on doing this..." Thomas forced out a smile uglier than crying, thus permitting the villagers to follow the caravan, together heading towards Twilight City.

Thomas comforted himself in his heart, thinking those villagers would only follow him up to that point. After all, they were technically considered refugees, and no feudal lord would easily let these folks go, nor would they allow them into their territory.

However, things weren't as simple as he thought.

Not to ntion the large and small Nobles on this land having disappeared without a trace; even if they remained, they couldn't handle the thorny chaos in front of them.

Along their route to Twilight City, the scene before them could only be described with the word "tragic".

If in the villages they passed by earlier one could see intact bodies, later there were only scattered white bones on the ground.

This ti Thomas felt empathetic, after all, he was a devout follower, or at least he considered himself fairly devout.

When faced with those emaciated refugees, he didn't stop Carian from praying for their families, soothing restless bones, and allowed those refugees to follow behind the caravan.

Thus, days passed, and when he started noticing, the refugees trailing behind the caravan had snowballed into an unimaginable size.

Night fell.

The caravan camped as usual, and the refugees following behind them emulated them by setting up their own camp.

But calling it a camp, there wasn't even a decent tent; people slept on the ground, sitting or lying, and faintly in the distance the howling of wolves seed audible.

However, surprisingly, those hungry people weren't despairing; instead, they maintained a neat order.

So gathered firewood, others started fires, so cared for children, while others cooked porridge and distributed the water-like porridge soup to the believers lined up in long queues.

Even amidst unbearable hunger, they maintained basic order without looting or fighting, and there was no theft.

After all, they didn't even have the strength to quarrel, nor was there anything worth stealing here.

Of course, the crucial thing is they regained "faith".

It's precisely this faith that prevented them from becoming bandits and robbers, like the Green Forest Army.

Yet it's worth noting, rather than saying they believe in Saint Sis, it's more accurate to say they believe in Lady Carian who gave them food.

These refugees are very pragmatic; whoever can keep them alive is their deity.
