"Squeak squeak squeak!!!"
Watching the giant rat descending on the battlefield, the ratn let out shrill and excited cries. Their round eyes turned crimson, fighting fiercely with the surrounding dwarf artillery troops.
Although caught off guard by the ratn's tunnel attacks, the dwarves of the High Mountain Kingdom were evidently not defenseless.
They anticipated that these cunning little rats would never face them in a fair duel. Five murderous hundred-man teams were charging toward the ambushing ratn guerrilla force.
Unlike typical dwarf warriors, they wore heavy plate armor on their shoulders, steel helts that revealed only eyes emitting a fierce glare, and wielded two-handed heavy battle axes taller than two stacked dwarves!
Engravings crisscrossed the axe blades, awaiting activation by the enemy's blood.
They were known as "Oath Warriors."
In Brass Pass, the na struck terror into the hearts of those ogres who worshipped destruction!
"Kill——!"
With a command from the leading dwarf centurion, the oath warriors wielding heavy battle axes charged like a steel at grinder, rcilessly slaughtering the ratn soldiers that rushed to the front lines.
The war giant rat roared and charged at the dwarves swinging their battle axes.
The two war chariots collided.
Dozens of armored dwarves were flung out like tossed barrels!
However, the war giant rat birthed from a chaotic sacrifice gained no advantage.
Hundred-pound battle axes hacked at its body one after another, tearing its grayish fur to shreds!
The war giant rat roared in pain, trying to wriggle away, but the dwarf hundred-man teams held it tightly, preventing escape from the rain of axe blades.
"Roar——!"
The dwarf centurion roared, stabbing his short sword into its right eye, getting tossed onto the rat's back amidst its shrill roars.
Grabbing the neck of the war giant rat, the dwarf centurion received a dagger tossed by a comrade, stabbing the fat rat's neck repeatedly, finally pinning the struggling and rampaging beast to the ground.
The bloody slaughter continued!
The centurion, too busy to cheer victory, wiped the blood from his face and returned to battle, fighting the endless ratn soldiers erging from the tunnel.
Perhaps thinking of an opportunity, or eyeing the dozens of dwarf mortars and the supply on the artillery base, clan rat warriors charged relentlessly, showing no signs of retreat.
But this played right into the dwarves' hands. They feared not face-to-face battles with ratn, only sneak attacks!
Rat extermination experts carrying fla tubes and crossbow cannons were rushing this way, soon the little rats would witness the true aning of purgatory!
However, the brave dwarf warriors underestimated the number of ratn and overestimated the marching speed of their short-legged brethren.
After a quarter-hour of battle, reinforcents had not arrived while rats kept pouring from the tunnel, seemingly deploying a ten-thousand-man squad here!
A second war giant rat was summoned, eventually being pinned to the ground by the skilled oath warriors, yet everyone showed a trace of fatigue.
As the battlefield's situation was about to turn, a sudden sound of hooves ca from not far away.
Seeing the approaching dust cloud, countless dwarves showed elated expressions.
It's the Campbell Duchy's cavalry!
Citizen cavalry racing across the swamp like a teor smashed into the battlefield's flank, sending nurous ratn soldiers flying like kicked cobblestones.
The leading ratn chiliarch, panicked, raised his long-handled hook scythe to resist, but a riding spear pierced his chest, half his body exploding into a mist of blood!
The leader was Erin Campbell!
She held a riding spear shining with holy light, her polished breastplate dazzling in the sunlight, eyes sharp as knives, like a descending heavenly god.
Seeing their chiliarch killed in one strike, the ratn were terrified, squeaking and screaming as an entire thousand-man team collapsed, fleeing in all directions!
"It's allies!"
The centurion commanding the battle shouted excitedly, leading his warriors to fight even fiercer.
They swore to slaughter the ugly little rats and hang their heads as trophies on the Fortress of Hatred as their badges of honor!
Seeing Campbell's cavalry join the battlefield, ratn stone throwers tried to fling stones at the tall warriors.
Unexpectedly to the ratn, their stone bullets hit a milky white barrier, bouncing off unabated, smashing their own brothers' brains out in a scream!
It was the legend of Duke Aaron Campbell, said to be protected by holy light as he led knights on the battlefield, never injured by stray arrows!
This widely-told legend, after Duke Aaron Campbell's death, manifested as a tangible miracle, infused into the light of praise, capturing the belief of countless people!
