Without thinking, Edmund quickly cupped her cheeks with both hands, gently pulling her closer.

"Wife, from now on, I swear I’ll never hide anything from you!" he blurted out. "I’ll give you access to every docunt, every problem, everything about this kingdom!"

He stopped for a second, realizing sothing that made his chest tighten.

"But ..." his voice softened, "the problems in this kingdom might be different from what you’re used to. We beasts sotis act like barbarians, driven by wild instincts. It’s not like the world you knew."

He clenched his jaw, lowering his head slightly. "That’s why ... if I tell you everything, you might end up scared of us."

Primrose held his hands dramatically. Her round eyes locked with his icy blue ones, making it impossible for Edmund to look away. "I’m not afraid of these things! As long as you’re with , I’m sure I’ll be fine!"

She bit her lip for a mont before adding in a smaller voice, "Unless ... unless you get tired of being by my sid—"

Edmund’s eyes widened, and without even thinking, he shook his head. "No!" he said, almost desperately. "No matter how long we’re together, I’ll never get tired of you, my wife!"

"Husband, I’ll never get tired of you too!"

The soldiers who were quietly watching their lovey-dovey mont secretly wanted to scream.

How dare those two show off their sweetness right in front of a bunch of single, lonely beasts?!

Still, behind all their grumbling and silent curses, a part of them wanted to cry. The sight in front of them was undeniably beautiful, like watching the sunrise after a stormy night.

Primrose almost laughed at the thought.

If anything, she wouldn’t call this a love story. To her, it was a tragedy, a cruel story, filled with poison, lies, and an ending written in blood.

But did that even matter?

Whether it was real or fake didn’t change her goal. What mattered most was making sure everyone, including Edmund, believed she was a loyal and caring wife.

If she could do that, she could get everything she wanted, even if it ant lying.

Or at least, that’s what she kept telling herself.

But if she was just acting, then why was her heart racing like this?

Why did Edmund’s gentle touch on her cheek make her freeze? Why did the way he looked at her with those tender eyes make her chest feel tight?

Why did it feel real?

And worse ... why did part of her want it to be?

She had loved Edmund once, back then. But that was it. She had no intention of letting that feeling grow any further.

Yet, day by day, it felt like her acting skills were getting too good, to the point where she started to feel a small spark of that emotion again.

"Then ... would you tell about the incident today?" Primrose asked softly. "I just want to know about your day."

Edmund blinked, looking a little surprised. "I will tell you everything, but ... isn’t it a little too late? You might get tired if we talk about it now."

Tired?

Primrose could have run around the whole palace twice if she wanted to. Sleep was the last thing on her mind right now.

"No, I won’t get tired. I’m not even sleepy," she replied without missing a beat. Then, without thinking, she added, "So ... would you spend the night with tonight?"

The second those words left her mouth, her eyes widened in horror.

"I-I an, to talk about what happened today, of course!" she quickly corrected, waving her hands and turning red from embarrassnt.

[Spend the whole night with my wife?! No, no, calm down! She just wants to talk, you idiot!]

[But still ... spending the whole night with her, even just talking, wouldn’t be so bad.]

"Then I should clean myself up first," Edmund said, clearing his throat awkwardly. "Would you wait for in my study?"

Primrose nodded. "That’s not a problem," she said, trying to sound normal, but her voice was softer than usual. Then, glancing down at her own wrinkled clothes, she added, "But ... I think I should change too."

Edmund lowered his head, quickly stepping back the mont he realized he had dirtied Primrose’s clothes and even left a smudge of blood on her cheek with his hand.

"I’m sorry ... I made you dirty," he said quietly, flustered. He quickly tried to wipe the blood off her cheek, but only ended up saring it more.

Primrose let out a soft laugh and gently grabbed his hands to stop him. "It’s alright. I’ll change after this," she said softly. "Let’s et again in an hour."
