This ti, Primrose decided to let Edmund take the lead. After all, the last ti she kissed him first, it ended up throwing her into a terrible life crisis.

As Edmund leaned closer, Primrose closed her eyes and lifted her face slightly. She stood on her tiptoes, but even then, he still had to bend down a little to reach her lips.

It was supposed to be their perfect second wedding kiss. Just the two of them, standing on the quiet balcony under the night sky, with no one there to disturb the mont.

But—

CRAAACK!

A bolt of lightning suddenly ripped across the sky, followed by a deep, rumbling thunder.

Primrose flinched, crouching to the ground while covering her ears tightly with her hands. Since she was standing outside, the sound felt deafening, making her heart race wildly.

Edmund, on the other hand, was left frozen, kissing nothing but the cold night air.

He let out a frustrated grumble, shooting a sharp look at the dark sky. [Seriously? Of all tis, you had to do this now?!]

He almost vented his frustration by kicking the railing but stopped halfway as he noticed his wife crouching on the floor, her hands trembling as she covered her ears.

The sight made his heart drop.

At that mont, the kiss didn’t matter anymore. Edmund imdiately crouched down in front of her.

"Primrose, are you alright?" he asked softly, reaching out and carefully placing a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle shake.

[Did I do sothing wrong? Is she scared of because I got mad at the thunder just now?]

[Wait—Is she crying?! I must’ve done sothing horrible!]

Before Edmund could spiral even more inside his head and accidentally give Primrose a headache, she quietly reached out and took his hand.

"I’m fine," she mumbled, rubbing her eyes roughly with her sleeve. "I... I’m just afraid of lightning, that’s all."

Her voice sounded so soft, almost inaudible. She was clearly embarrassed because after all, wasn’t it only children who were scared of thunder to the point of shedding tears?

But she wasn’t lying nor was she exaggerating. Primrose wasn’t just afraid of lightning.

She hated it, truly hated it, with all her heart.

Another flash tore through the sky, followed by a deafening crash of thunder. The ground seed to shake, and even the palace walls and windows trembled.

Primrose instinctively lowered her head and clung tightly to Edmund’s hand. She squeezed her eyes shut, too scared to open them again.

Monts later, the rain poured down heavily. The wind blew hard, sweeping raindrops into the balcony.

Without saying a word, Edmund quickly moved and shielded her with his body, making sure she wouldn’t get wet. "Let’s get inside," he said softly.

Primrose didn’t argue. She simply let Edmund wrap his arms around her and lead her back into the palace. Once inside, and as the soldiers closed the balcony door behind them, Edmund finally stepped back, careful not to get her wet with his soaked clothes.

"Your Majesty, you should change your clothes," one of the soldiers reminded gently.

Primrose slowly lifted her head. That’s when she realized how damp Edmund’s clothes were, especially around his shoulders. anwhile, she hadn’t even caught a single drop of rain.

Softly, she asked, "Aren’t you cold?"

Primrose gently wiped the raindrops off Edmund’s face using her sleeve, but Edmund quickly held her hand and whispered, "I’m fine."

[Her hand and clothes will get soaked if she touches . I don’t want my wife catching a fever because of the rain.]

"You should go back to your room," Edmund said quietly.

At that mont, he completely forgot that he hadn’t gotten the kiss they were supposed to share. But it didn’t matter. The only thing on his mind now was making sure his wife wouldn’t get cold.

Edmund turned to one of the nearby soldiers. "Tell the maid to add more firewood to the Queen’s chamber."

The soldier nodded and hurried away to follow the order.

"We can talk again tomorrow," Edmund said gently. "Let walk you back to your room."

He took a step forward, expecting her to follow. But Primrose didn’t move.

She stood still, staring out the window. Her eyes followed the heavy rain as it fell harder and harder, mixed with loud bursts of lightning.

She hated it.

She hated the monts when she had to hide from storms, covering her ears every ti thunder shook the sky.

She hated the sharp sound of the rain hitting the window, making that constant rattling noise that left her feeling restless.

She hated the rain.

But more than anything, she hated being alone whenever a storm ca.

"Primrose." Edmund called her na softly, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Let’s go back to your room."

Primrose reached out and gently grabbed the hem of Edmund’s sleeve. With a hesitant voice, she asked, "Can I ... Can I stay with you until the storm passes?"

She lowered her head, too embarrassed to et his eyes.

It was easy to tease Edmund when she didn’t put her real feelings into it. But now, now that she was genuinely asking him to stay with her, without any hidden jokes, it felt like standing barefoot on burning coals.

[My wife is shaking so much.]

Edmund imdiately wrapped his hands around hers, holding them tightly in hopes of stopping her trembling.

[Is she really that afraid of the storm?]

[It’s going to be hard to stay in the sa room with her after ... after everything that just happened. But my wife needs now.]

[So, STOP BEING A DAMN PERVERT AND PROTECT YOUR WIFE!]

Primrose almost laughed after hearing his flustered thoughts. But before she could even smile, another flash of lightning split the sky, followed by a sharp crack of thunder.

She flinched and instinctively moved closer to Edmund, seeking warmth and comfort.

"You can," Edmund said gently, softening his voice as much as he could. "But I need to change my clothes first."

Without even thinking, Primrose blurted out, "Then ... I can just go to your room."
