Primrose gently swung her feet as she sat on Edmund’s bed. The bed felt a little different from the one she had used before.

Did he really change it after she ... accidentally dirtied it?

She quickly patted her warm cheeks, trying to get rid of the embarrassing thoughts spinning in her head.

She was here because she didn’t want to be alone during the storm, that’s all.

She wasn’t here to do anything inappropriate.

"I’ll change my clothes in the dressing room," Edmund said after picking up so clean clothes from the wardrobe. He seed incredibly awkward around her, and Primrose could easily tell he was avoiding touching her at all.

Primrose quickly got off the bed. "I ... I don’t want to be left alone." She tugged gently at the hem of his clothes. "Can’t you just change here instead?" she whispered, eyes lowered. "It’s not like I haven’t seen your body before."

That’s right!

She had already seen every part of him, so why should she be embarrassed about Edmund changing in front of her?

"... Alright," Edmund replied hesitantly.

He walked toward the corner of the room, almost like he was trying to hide from his own wife, but to his surprise, Primrose quietly followed him like a little duckling following its mother.

"What’s the point of changing here if you’re going to stand so far away?" Primrose lowered her voice, biting her lip before softly adding, "Husband, the thunder really scares ."

The mont he heard those words, Edmund’s expression darkened.

It wasn’t because he was angry, it was because he had just realized his mistake.

[My wife needs , yet I’m acting like a fool?! So what if she sees changing? I’m not so shy maiden!]

"Then, I’ll stay," Edmund said firmly.

Without hesitating any longer, he took off his clothes right next to the bed. Even though he turned his back toward Primrose, he stayed close, making sure not to leave her alone.

His broad shoulders and the firm muscles on his back made Primrose swallow hard. No matter how many tis she had seen him, she still couldn’t deny that he looked undeniably attractive.

But tonight, with the thunder rumbling outside, she wasn’t thinking about that.

Right now, all she wanted was simply to have her husband by her side.

"Do you always train every day?" Primrose asked, trying to break the silence and ease the awkwardness between them.

She quietly sighed in relief when Edmund finally put on a clean shirt.

"Yes. I train every morning in the training ground," Edmund replied while buttoning up his shirt. "I need to set a good example for my soldiers, so I can’t afford to slack off, not even for a day."

Primrose lowered her gaze, watching as her feet swung slowly since the bed was a little too tall for her. "That sounds tiring."

"Not really." Edmund finished buttoning his shirt and turned to face her. "After doing the sa thing for years, it just feels like part of my daily life."

"I want to have a routine too," Primrose admitted quietly, finally gathering the courage to share her feelings. "I’ve been the queen of this kingdom for a while now, but you haven’t given anything to do. If this continues, people might start calling lazy."

[Lazy?! Who dares to call my wife lazy?!]

[She isn’t lazy! My wife doesn’t need to do heavy work, I don’t want her to get sick!

[I’ve heard humans usually get sick if they overwork.]

Primrose blinked in disbelief.

So all this ti, she had endured being called The Sleeping Queen just because Edmund was scared she’d get sick if she worked too much?

If humans were that weak, wouldn’t they just sleep all day instead of working?

"You don’t have to work," Edmund said calmly, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I can handle everything myself."

"But I need to work!" Primrose grabbed his arm and pulled him down slightly so she could et his eyes. "If this keeps going, I’ll just be a useless queen!"

"You’re not useless." Edmund’s voice softened, but his tone was serious. "You’re my wife."

Of course, she knew she was his wife, but that wasn’t the point.

Honestly, it wasn’t like Primrose enjoyed the idea of working either. Sleeping all day sounded far better than running around managing royal affairs.

Unfortunately, the world wasn’t kind toward anyone who did nothing all day. People wouldn’t just call her lazy, they’d see her as a disgrace.

Worst of all, her bad reputation would make Noctvaris itself look bad in the eyes of other kingdoms.

"Listen to , Your Majesty," Primrose said firmly, her eyes filled with determination. There was no room left for Edmund to argue.

"If the Queen of Noctvaris does nothing but sleep and eat all day, my na, my reputation, and even my life will be ruined.

"If that happens, it won’t be easy to fix." Primrose clenched her hands tightly.

"That’s why, before it’s too late, I want to beco a queen who is actually useful, so I can blend in with my people ... and so the Emperor of Vellmoria will see that I’m fulfilling my duty as a symbol of peace between humans and beasts."

The mont Primrose ntioned the Emperor of Vellmoria, Edmund’s face darkened imdiately. His jaw tightened as he clenched his fists at his sides.

[That bastard ... he made my wife suffer so much.]

[If it weren’t for politics and the fragile bond between our races, I would have taken his head a long ti ago.]

Primrose blinked, startled by the intensity of his thoughts.

Even if Edmund could ignore the consequences between humans and beasts, shouldn’t he at least be worried about becoming a fugitive if he went that far?

The Empire of Vellmoria was the largest empire on the entire Lumielle continent. Making them enemies would make life unbearable, no matter how strong Edmund was.

He was a powerful lycan, but that didn’t an he could stay safe forever with thousands of soldiers chasing him.

Primrose couldn’t let sothing like that happen to him.

"It’s not like I want to win the Emperor’s favor," Primrose said softly. "Actually ... I just want to make my father proud." Her voice trembled slightly. "I want him to be proud that I beca a good queen for my people."

She gently tugged at the hem of her dress and looked up at Edmund with hopeful eyes. "Will you help make him proud of ?"
