Kate’s arrival added insult to injury for Florist Hospital, which was already struggling under the combined pressure of Sean’s Maze of Truth and the towering fury from Elvire’s forced breakthrough to Tier Six.
When Zajik heard Kate’s furious voice, he was montarily stunned.
He didn’t understand.
He had launched a sneak attack, an act that naturally drew hatred, but he hadn’t actually hard Elvire.
’All I did was injure so young man who popped out of nowhere. Did Elvire really need to force a breakthrough over that?’
’Now Kate the Light Attendant is here, and it seems he’s also here for this young man.’
’So... what the hell did I provoke to make two Tier Five Wizards fly into such a rage?’
The crucial part was, he never intended to provoke them in the first place.
’Hunting down a Tier Five Wizard is no easy task. One wrong move and they could escape, or even turn the tables. In such a high-stakes situation, why would I deliberately create more complications for myself?’
’Kate said I plotted against his brother.’
’But the problem is, I don’t even know who this brother of Kate’s is! Sean appeared out of nowhere and insisted on taking that hit for Elvire. How is that my fault??’
’It has jack shit to do with !’
’This is a goddamn setup!’
Zajik was filled with indignation!
He had been so close to success, only for so precious little nuisance to appear out of nowhere and turn all his forbearance and planning to ash.
Zajik wasn’t afraid of Elvire alone. Even with Kate added to the mix, it would be a close fight. This wasn’t a testant to his personal strength, but rather a reflection of the fact that Wizards below a Tier Seven Grand Mage have relatively limited Magic Power. Numbers could, to a certain extent, bridge the gap between them.
Tonight, there were hundreds of orderlies at Florist Hospital, all transferred from the main branch at his command. Even if their combined strength couldn’t kill a single Tier Five Wizard, they could at least tie them down and keep them occupied. Plus, Holkaydo was his turf. The longer this dragged on, the greater their advantage would be. They could wear Elvire and her people down until they were all dead.
Everything had been going smoothly, until this man appeared.
The fact that Sean could be so grievously injured by his Puppet suggested his Tier wasn’t very high. Yet, he had sohow managed to cast such a large-scale Magic, trapping all of Zajik’s subordinates within it.
’And this Magic is a goddamn math quiz!’
Zajik really wanted to curse soone out.
’If these orderlies were that educated, would they still be orderlies??’
Zajik was also deeply shaken by this incomprehensible Maze of Truth that defied all logic. But more than shock, he felt utterly jinxed. He had no ti to ponder why a Magic would take such a form; all he knew was that his greatest advantage tonight—his numbers—had been single-handedly nullified by Sean, who had shown up at the hospital for no apparent reason.
Fortunately, he had a couple of aces up his sleeve and had prepared for the worst-case scenario.
While he was transferring people from headquarters, he had also moved all the important items out of the hospital.
Zajik had nothing to worry about leaving behind.
He had only one thought at this mont—escape!
And minimize his losses.
But having co all this way, leaving wouldn’t be so easy.
About the Truth Technique, about Quill, about Kate... Elise had many questions for Sean, but she knew now wasn’t the ti. She had doubted him before, but Sean’s actions had proven everything. What she needed to do now was to seize the opportunity while Sean had the orderlies under control and go on a rampage to avenge her fallen comrades!
"Kill!"
A vicious glint flashed in Elise’s eyes as her aura surged. She transford into a bolt of lightning, tracing a thick, long arc across the ground. In an instant, she pierced through the bodies of several orderlies, "freeing" them from the sea of questions. They collapsed with electricity CRACKLING over their char-blackened skin.
Yisha, who looked so delicate she might be knocked over by a single finger, also charged into the maze, revealing a ferocious combat prowess completely at odds with her petite, doll-like appearance.
Her weapons were her "hands." Empowered by a Magic Spell, her skin turned a deathly pale and her teeth grew sharp, like a Vampire in its Juvenile Stage. Her entire right hand transford into a giant bat that opened its maw; with every bite, an orderly was turned into a standing, headless corpse.
The sight made even Sean’s eyelids twitch.
’So ruthless.’
"Goddammit, kill these bastards!"
The other Wizards Elvire had brought with her, finally given a mont to breathe thanks to the enemies being trapped in the Maze of Truth, all began to counterattack.
They had already lost many of their own, leaving them with less than half their original number. They were completely outnumbered by the orderlies, but their enemies, bound by the Truth, had lost the ability to resist—at least, until Sean ran out of energy, they couldn’t even think of fighting back. This was not a chaotic lee of mutual destruction, but a one-sided slaughter.
The Wizards flooded into the maze like wolves into a flock of sheep.
In that mont, the tables had completely turned.
Vice Director Zajik couldn’t escape either.
A beam of light shone down on him, making him the center of attention in the dark night.
At Zajik’s Tier, he naturally wouldn’t be vaporized by a beam of light like so common policeman. But that didn’t matter, because this light didn’t just clean away weak "dust"; it also had a function akin to a domain.
It wasn’t only the enemy who was With the Dust of Light, but also Kate himself.
Within the light, Kate was invincible.
His figure was impossible to track as he road freely within the beam. Zajik could only see a shadow flitting around him, constantly changing position. Every so often, a fist would fly out and strike him, throwing him into disarray. He was completely unable to tell where Kate was, much less fight back.
The punches didn’t have much attacking power, but they were incredibly humiliating.
Zajik knew Kate was doing this deliberately. The mont he showed any sign of fatigue, or revealed an opening in a fit of Fury, Kate would imdiately unleash his true killing move and finish him in a single blow.
Zajik had no desire to continue the fight. He finally seized a gap in Kate’s relentless assault and darted out of the light’s range, only to run head-on into Elvire, who was as beautiful—and as deadly—as a Blazing Angel.
The young woman’s eyes were like fire, her wings wreathed in fla that scorched and distorted the surrounding air. Yet, her voice was as cold as ice, brimming with thick killing intent.
"No matter where you hide, Zajik, I will find you and cast you into eternal Hell."
The young woman raised her Giant Sword.
The bright flas on the blade turned as red as blood.
Just as Zajik was about to flee, a giant silhouette of light appeared behind him, a massive hand clamping down on his shoulder.
"Did I say you could move?" Kate said coldly.
The Flaming Sword ca crashing down.
Zajik scread in despair, "No!!!"
"BOOM!"
With a trendous explosion, Zajik’s body suddenly burst apart. The violent blast unleashed a torrent of flas like a landslide and tsunami, sending out a powerful shockwave that engulfed and pulverized both him and the main building behind him, setting the night sky ablaze.
The Vice Director was dead.
And with his death, there was no Power left in the hospital that could stop them.
Elvire, however, no longer had the heart to continue commanding the operation.
She retracted her wings, descended from the sky, and rushed straight toward Sean.
Elise knew she was worried about Sean’s injuries and wanted to tell Elvire that he was fine. It sounded unbelievable, but the guy was surprisingly tough; he had just been helping them kill the orderlies.
But when she turned to look, Sean, who had been full of vigor just a second ago, was suddenly lying back on the ground, his eyes squeezed shut and his brow furrowed, looking as if he were unconscious and struggling to endure so unbearable pain.
Elise: "?"
"I’m leaving this to you."
Elvire handed command over to Elise and Yisha, scooped Sean up into her arms, and hurried out of the hospital. Her quick steps betrayed her anxiety. Even Kate, who had rushed over, didn’t get a chance to see how badly Sean was hurt.
He could only ask Elise, "Is it serious?"
Elise watched from a distance as Sean, cradled in Elvire’s arms, seed to nuzzle against her. She froze for a mont, then a knowing smile spread across her face. "Who knows?"
"Perhaps it’s very serious."
