Theoretically, Sean’s injuries should have been severe.

Not because he’d taken a direct hit from Zajik’s Puppet, but because of the Forbidden ditation.

Casting the Maze of Truth had consud at least seventy to eighty Lak of his Magic Power in a continuous torrent. This was a level of Power dozens of tis greater than a Tier Two’s. It ant that his body had been forced to undergo a continuous autophagic reaction, affecting a number of cells dozens of tis greater than what would normally be an insignificant amount.

It was a terrifying prospect.

Sean couldn’t calculate the exact number of cells that would die from this Forbidden ditation, but he was certain it was no small figure. At the very least, he should have beco drastically emaciated, turning into skin and bones like a slave starved in a prison for years. In a more severe case, he might have shown signs of premature aging or even lost so physiological functions.

In reality, however, Sean’s body hadn’t changed much at all.

He was indeed exhausted and felt like he had overexerted himself, but he felt none of the sickly weakness—like anemia or a high fever—described in *The Beginning of the Forbidden Curse*.

He had already noticed this when he mobilized the Forbidden Power to kill Quill.

It seed his body was rather unique and could, to so extent, negate the price of using a Forbidden Spell. This was just as Elvire had told him in his dream, which was why he dared to go all out and co to Florist Hospital to support Elvire and the others.

Sean could tell that Elvire seed to have misunderstood sothing.

But he felt no need to explain.

A very handso and famous author once said, "Life is fascinating because it is full of all kinds of uncertainties, and these uncertainties often arise from one beautiful misunderstanding after another."

He had to admit, Elvire’s embrace was very comfortable.

’A girl’s bosom really is just like in my dream—warm, fragrant, and soft.’

’Now that Quill is dead and the crisis at the hospital is over, I need to rest. Might as well get a good night’s sleep right here in my sister-in-law’s arms.’

...

...

When he woke up again, it was already September 4th.

"Oh, you’re awake?"

The voice of a gentle, older-sisterly woman reached his ears. As Sean opened his eyes, he saw Elise sitting in a chair by his bed. Then, his gaze fell on the calendar on the cabinet, and he couldn’t help but stare blankly. "The 4th?"

"I slept for that long?"

This was a high-end hospital room with clean walls and good lighting, but it definitely wasn’t Florist Hospital.

"Only three days. That’s not long at all," Elise said with a smile.

Given the injuries Sean had "appeared" to have, it was unlikely he would have woken up for at least ten days to half a month. Three days was an incredibly short ti, which showed that Sean’s physical constitution was far superior to that of a normal person.

However, she had already guessed that night that Sean’s injuries weren’t serious, so she wasn’t too surprised. In comparison, she was more astonished by the fact that his injuries "weren’t serious" in the first place.

’A Tier One... oh, no, he should be Tier Two now. Setting aside that incredible Cultivation Speed, how could a Tier Two Wizard survive an attack from a Tier Five Puppet with only minor injuries?’

Elise was very curious.

"Where’s Elvire?" Sean noticed he still had an IV drip in his hand and couldn’t move around freely. He had no choice but to adjust to his role as a "patient" and ask about the young woman.

"She went to get your dicine," Elise replied. Speaking of Elvire, a aningful smile appeared on her face again. "You’re looking for her the mont you wake up. Mr. Sean, don’t tell you actually have a thing for our Miss Fla Crow?"

Sean cleared his throat. "Of course not. I’m like this with all my friends."

"Is that so?" Elise tilted her head. "I should count as your friend too, right, Mr. Sean? How co I haven’t seen you show any concern for ?"

Sean: "..."

He thought for a mont, then put on a concerned expression and asked, "Miss Elise, how have you been these past few days? Have you eaten? How many als a day? Was the food good? What did you eat? Was it sweet or savory? Did they use a lot of chili peppers? Did you brush your teeth after eating? What brand of toothpaste did you use...?"

"Enough, enough, stop!" Elise was both exasperated and amused. "Is this how you show concern for your friends?"

’Is this concern?’

’It smacks of soone just trying to fill the silence.’

Sean said calmly, "That’s just how we guys are."

"If that’s true, I can only say you’ve been very successful." Elise was referring to the previous topic—whether Sean was interested in Elvire and trying to get her attention. She smiled and said, "Do you know what Elvire has done for you these past few days?"

Sean: "Hm?"

"Tell ."

"It’s quite a lot. Let see."

Elise counted on her fingers, rattling them off. "First, she called for an ergency helicopter and brought you to this secret hospital overnight."

"Second, she disregarded the doctor’s need for rest and dragged him out of bed to examine you."

"Next, she brought in the best Priest here to heal you and used her personal connections to have the best dicine in the world flown in from Krim State. That bottle you’re hooked up to right now is it."

"Then there were the special food deliveryn, nutritional rehabilitation specialists, and even an Alchemist who could concoct body-nding Magic Potions... Let’s put it this way, even when she herself was critically injured and on the verge of death, she never gave herself this kind of treatnt... No one has ever received this treatnt. You’re the first."

Sean’s eyes curved into a smile as he listened.

’So my dear sister-in-law is this good to ?’

"Elise, who are you talking to?"

As they were talking, Elvire pushed open the door with a frown, thinking soone else was in the room. She had given orders that no one was to disturb Sean without her permission. It was only when she walked in with a tray of Alchemy Potions that she realized Sean was already awake and sitting up.

Her lovely brow suddenly relaxed as she exclaid in pleasant surprise, "Sean, you’re awake?"

Realizing she sounded a bit too excited, she lowered her voice and added coolly, "Why didn’t you tell ?"

"He just woke up, he didn’t have ti," Elise answered for Sean, adding with a smile, "I was just telling him how busy you’ve been for his sake these past few days. You must be exhausted."

Elvire: "?"

She turned her head and saw Sean’s gentle, touched expression. A sudden panic seized her heart, and she quickly tried to explain, "Busy? How was I busy?"

Neither Elise nor Sean said a word. They just looked at the specially commissioned nding Magic Potion in her hand.

Elvire continued to argue, "It’s not like I did it for him. The helicopter, the doctor, the dicine... all of that was just to test our ergency treatnt protocols. There was no other reason."

"Alright, alright, if you say so." Elise didn’t argue with her, just gave a suggestive wink. "I’m going to the restroom. You two can talk."

Elvire glared at her. "Sit down. Hold it."

Elise: "..."

Sean: "..."

It wasn’t as if they were going to discuss so dark secret. She didn’t need Elise to leave them to their so-called "private world." Elvire snorted softly, walked to the bedside table to put down the tray, picked up a bottle of Magic Potion, and subconsciously moved to feed it to Sean.

Sean thought to himself, ’I never knew my sister-in-law had such a caring side.’ Just as he opened his mouth in anticipation, Elvire suddenly realized that a certain soone was already awake. She grabbed his hand—the one without the IV—and shoved the Magic Potion into it.

"Drink it yourself."

Sean: "..."

Elise was snickering at the side.

Sean had no choice but to do it himself, while his mind was already wondering, ’Should I pretend to be sick for a few more days?’

As he drank the Magic Potion—it was bitter and a little spicy, with a taste like absinthe—he changed the subject, asking the young woman, "What happened with the hospital in the end?"

Elvire cald her slightly racing heart and replied, "It went well. We got most of the people out."

Except for those who were already dead and a few who had been brainwashed and tried to infiltrate their ranks as moles, the other patients were also brought to the hospital. They had been fed food laced with Withered Leaf Grass for a long ti and had accumulated a lot of toxins in their bodies. They were now undergoing treatnt.

"Did you guys go to the morgue?" Sean asked.

He was very concerned about Chris’s remains.

Elise nodded. "We went."

She had gone personally. She, too, wanted to let those poor, innocent Wizards rest in peace, but...

"The morgue was empty."

Elise said, "Zajik had already moved all the bodies."

Sean: "?"
