Ah Tie picked up those bits and pieces, and then another custor ca in to get their dicine.
Zhang Shun quoted the price for the herbs, and Yun Jiao went over to check the prescription. Inside was an ingredient, sour jujube seed, that needed grinding. She instructed Ah Tie, "Go and call Lao Jiu to grind the herbs."
Ah Tie called in Lao Jiu, who then helped place the dicine into the mill trough.
The mill trough was made of iron, a bit like a canoe, with an iron wheel-like millstone threaded through the middle with an iron bar.
When grinding the dicine, one could either use hands to turn the iron bar to move the millstone in the trough, which was quite tiring.
Or people could stand on the iron bar, bending their legs skillfully, allowing the iron wheel to roll inside, thus grinding the dicine more easily by standing on top.
Lao Jiu ca out, and San Ya and Yingzi followed.
Just before, Lao Jiu was cutting herbs while telling them a story, a story not yet finished, so they tagged along like little tails.
Lao Jiu first placed one foot on the iron bar, then both feet, and soon the millstone began to roll.
San Ya and Yingzi watched with wide eyes, "Wow, this looks so fun."
