Just as scenes from this life flashed before his eyes.

Lu Mingyuan felt a warm power supporting him, halting his rapid descent, as a Buddha’s Voice sounded by his ear:

"Amitabha Buddha. The sea of suffering is boundless, yet you, Benefactor, still chose to sacrifice your life for righteousness. You are a model for the Human Race."

Lu Mingyuan struggled to open his eyes a crack and saw that a Buddha’s Dharma Body, a million zhang tall, had appeared at so point in the vast void. It stood between heaven and earth, rows of divine halos arrayed behind it, glowing with a brilliant Golden Light.

It was the figure of a Buddha, with a kind and benevolent face, ancient and weathered. He wore monastic robes and had ninety-nine topknots on his head, each coiled like the winding tracks of an earthworm in mud.

He looked very familiar.

"May I ask, Seven Ancestors, can this senior still be saved?"

"The Great Nether Divine Venerable struck himself. We arrived a step too late. His Divine Soul has been corrupted by the Evil God’s power. I fear there is no saving him."

Anxious voices continued to echo, and only then did Lu Mingyuan understand.

He was seeing a living Buddha—the seventh Buddha of the Buddhist Sect, Shakyamuni Buddha.

The Buddha’s Relics he possessed—weren’t they from this very sa Seven Ancestors?

"Benefactor, at least let us know your na."

The Seven Ancestors’ kind and gentle voice reached his ears.

"Fang Yuan..."

With that last low murmur, Lu Mingyuan’s vision went black, and he lost consciousness completely.

...

’Where am I?’

’Am I dead?’

’It feels so cold.’

In a swirl of darkness, Lu Mingyuan felt his consciousness sinking into an intensely cold environnt.

’It’s freezing!’

The next second, Lu Mingyuan jolted awake and sat bolt upright. His eyes were wide with lingering fear as he panted, puffs of white breath escaping his lips.

Now fully awake, he found himself inside an ice coffin.

He was in a spacious room, brightly lit by torches. It was filled with dark-skinned people dressed in thick fox furs. Their faces were painted with white stripes, and they knelt on the ground with pious expressions, hands clasped, heads bowed as they muttered under their breath.

An old woman at the head of the group wore a grass cape and a helt made from a bull’s skull. She held a wooden staff topped with a sheep’s skull and was chanting words he couldn’t understand, looking just like an ancient Priest.

A young girl with tanned skin, delicate features, and a tiger-skin skirt, who had been sadly wiping her tears, looked up and saw him sitting up. An expression of utter disbelief instantly appeared on her face.

"The Young Master... he’s co back to life!"

At her words, everyone turned to look at Lu Mingyuan, their mouths agape.

"The Young Master really has co back to life!"

"Did our prayers work?"

"It must be the Lord Heavenly God showing his divine power!"

Thanks to his experiences from his previous life, Lu Mingyuan was no longer surprised by strange sights.

’Right now, I have to stay calm. Don’t ask questions I shouldn’t ask. Wait for the right mont.’

He couldn’t afford to act too strangely.

"Xiaorou, quickly, get the Young Master so clothes."

"Yes!"

Lu Mingyuan was helped out of the ice coffin and wrapped in thick furs, and his body finally began to warm up.

He looked toward the window of the stone-built house, only to see complete darkness outside.

Lu Mingyuan couldn’t help but walk toward the door, wanting to see where he was.

"Wait, Young Master! It’s nightti, you don’t have a light!"

The delicate-featured girl quickly grabbed a lantern lit with a willow-twig wick and followed him. Its light illuminated their surroundings, revealing that they were in what appeared to be a village.

He discovered the sky here was incredibly dim. There wasn’t a single star, let alone a moon. The world outside was a vast expanse of blackness where he could see nothing. It was so dark he couldn’t see his hand in front of his face, or even make out the road. The darkness was like a thick fog.

It was indescribably strange.

"Xiaorou, my head hurts a little. What’s going on right now? I’ve forgotten so things."

Lu Mingyuan clutched his head, putting on a skilled performance, trying to get so information out of the girl nad Xiaorou.

The delicate-featured girl said with a pained expression, "Young Master, when you were out hunting, you ran into people from the Netherworld Tiger Tribe. You couldn’t stand seeing the Netherworld Tiger Young Master stealing your prey, so a conflict broke out. Then, one of their clansn used the Zhurong Divine Technique on you, and it burned your brain."

"Wait..."

Lu Mingyuan rubbed the bridge of his nose, realizing he didn’t understand a single thing she had just said.

’Tribe?’

’Zhurong Divine Technique?’

After so questioning, Lu Mingyuan finally got a rough idea of where he was.

He had transmigrated and beco the Young Master of the Wild Bull Race, a part of the Witch Race.

The very sa Witch Race that was one of the Ten Underworld Races.

The entire Witch Race was divided into six major tribes, or six branches, and he happened to be in one of them. His father was the Clan Leader of the Wild Bull Race.

In other words, he had co to the Holy Netherworld, the holand of the Great Nether Empress. He was currently in a Witch Race city-state in a region called the Northern Domain.

It took Lu Mingyuan a great deal of effort to understand everything.

’I never expected this. In my previous life, I spent my ti slaying Demon Fiends and got a taste of what it was like to be a Martial Saint.’

’But in this life, the Grand Thousand Canglan Map threw into the Holy Netherworld, a place teeming with Demon Fiends, and I even transmigrated into a mber of the Demon Race.’

’If that’s the case, then doesn’t that make the people of the Central Plains World my enemies?’

’Grand Thousand Canglan Map, you really know how to play gas.’

’Whatever.’

’I guess this counts as infiltrating the enemy’s ranks ahead of ti. Finding out the Great Netherworld’s secrets early is a good thing, too.’

After rubbing his temples, Lu Mingyuan asked, "Xiaorou, when does the sun rise? I want to go for a walk."

"Reporting to the Young Master, Xiaorou doesn’t know either."

Lu Mingyuan almost thought he’d misheard. He stared with wide eyes and asked again to confirm:

"You don’t know when the sun will rise?"

The young girl, Xiaorou, gave him a strange look and said, "Young Master, did you forget this too? The day and night in the Northern Domain have always been decided by the Lord Heavenly God."
